  1. One of my Geocoins (released Xmas 2005 and a gift from a very good friend) has travelled a mere 26.4 miles. It was picked up by a "cacher" on 23rd May 2006 and has not moved since. Several emails to them requesting that it be returned to the 'wild' have remained unanswered. Consequently, I've decided not to release any further coins into the great outdoors until I percieve the situation improving.
  2. ..... and here starts a potential problem. I use the "Other" for parking/information and the "Benchmark" icon for Trig Points I think this is an excellent Stats report and the effort involved to produce it deserves to be applauded
  3. Ah I understand . Perhaps wording along the lines of "Caches placed by 'xyz' that I've found" (not easy to pick good description methinks).
  4. Very presentable - I'm impressed. One Q - what's the "Finds byOwner" part? Does it represent caches placed and logged by the owner?
  5. Yup I can confirm I have indeed been out with Pharisee & Omally. One occasion springs to mind in particular - my 500th find! GCNFBW - a 'mere' 1 mile jaunt out after midnight after copious amounts of 'ale' - someone thought it'd be a good idea and we staggered about and took about 3 hours to complete it. Joyous occasion indeed
  6. I too use a macro that interrogates the co-ords of caches and applies the "appropriate" county based on the MM county outline kindly provided by P&T some time ago. It's not perfect but it works for me
  7. You could try getting hold of a copy "Roads & Recreation UK" or "Metro Guide UK". These have reasonable road maps of the UK and do not need an unlock code. They don't 'Autoroute' though if I recall correctly. There is a way to copy the maps to your hard drive but I can't remember how it's done now!
  8. I shall be putting out two film canisters over the next couple of days, feel free to ignore them. As they're likely to be placed in Cumbria and Pharisee is in Bedfordshire I feel sure he probably will ignore them
  9. If by "memory map" you mean the Memory-Map OS program you should have no difficulty loading multiple csv or gpx files into it. It's what I do all the time.
  10. No wooden legs or parrots involved, mail me by my profile and I will share happily, it's a folder of tracks following county boundries in gpx format, credit to Motley Crew who took the time to follow the boundries and originally passed them to me. I forget I have a web server, download from here Thanks NK. I'm glad you posted that link - I somehow managed to "lose" all those files and didn't relish the prospect of doing all that "tracing" again . Hi-Tek (Dad of Motley Crew)
  11. Play the game how YOU want - it is up to you. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks.
  12. Nope - I just read the relevant info that is required to find the cache - that's all that is required.
  13. Wouldn't that be the co-ords and the hint?
  14. I reckon - except that every time I've stopped by to find it, it's been muggled. When I found it (Oct 2004) it was in the gravel below the statue ... ... and this one Royal Victoria Bridge is in full view - excellent
  15. So now we have a good idea of what your next cache container might look like then Steve
  16. Try loading your PQs into GSAK. It will load both the 'regular' & 'additional waypoints into its database. Then you can filter to your hearts content then export to your Palm in CacheMate for Palm PDA format. HTH
  17. 23 new caches since 1st may (of which more than half are Multi/Puzzle caches ). I must add that the 20 miles radius disadvantages those of us who live on the coast There are however 306 that are available or temp archived
  18. A 'camo' bag can be perceived as being much the same as a placcy bag. It will almost certainly take eons to decompose and is as much a danger to wildlife. A bag is a bag whatever form it takes and hence could easily be deemed as "Geolitter". Perhaps a ban on all forms of 'bag' should be placed
  19. As someone who has discovered a hedgehog with it's head trapped in the handle of a plastic carrier bag I would BEG that no-one uses them as cache camouflage. The bag was so tight around its neck/head that I couldn't remove it it on my own - it didn't help that it curled up in a ball "as they do". I had to take it home and my wife and I managed with care to gently cut it off. The hedgehog was returned to where it was found and hopefully had an easier life no longer having to drag that bloody bag around everywhere it went.
  20. Does anyone in the UK really care? Apparently we have a reality TV 'show' that is far more interesting for the members of my family
  21. You're missing nothing! Don't worry about it. Hall of Fame doesn't recognise Foreign/Virtual/Members Only caches. It's only a game after all. Just keep hunting them down ......
  22. Seconded. If I 'open' a thread then I consider myself as the 'owner' of said thread and reserve the right to close it for whatever reason I deem valid. Should anyone else wish to open one on the same or similar topic then they have the right to do so - as do I. I treat a topic as I do a cache, if I start (place) it, then I have no qualms about closing (archiving) it when I feel the need to.
  23. No it can't IMHO. Cache finding can be likened to to the phrase 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Each cache finder has different opinions of a cache's attributes - some may like it - others may not.
