  1. I used the public car park by Chesham railway station, close to CH001 the first cache in the series. It was there all day with no problems. John, you forgot to mention that it was freezing cold and p**sing down with rain all day and the scumbags were probably all tucked up at home in the warm!
  2. Try Fon Maps and zoom as necessary
  3. I've used "Coordinates" on my Palm based Garmin iQue 3600 on the (very) few occasions I do Multi's. I've had it for some time now and "it works for me" . It will save each separate cache stage (numbers) that you have found. Can't recall where I got it from but an earlier post in this thread mentioned the same prog.
  4. A: I would be happy to do. B: Would be filtered out in GSAK.
  5. I sympathise with you, I had a similar occurence .... Stolen Coin Log Still no sign of the coin and an appeal here met with a "warning" from the "forum policeman" so don't expect any help from here I have about 10 coins here that I'm no longer prepared to put out into the wild. I'll probably sell them on eBay at some point in time
  6. Excellent utility, many thanks for allowing us all to use it. One small request - could the output date format be dd/mm/yyyy not mm/dd/yyyy as it is now?
  7. My recommendation would be to go for a Palm based PDA. I have both a Palm (Garmin iQue 3600) & a Pocket PC (Garmin M4) PDA and ran cachemate on both. The Palm will load the whole of the UK (15000+) in about 30 minutes, whereas the Pocket PC takes all night to load the same and coughs at about 3000. I, personally speaking, find the Palm cachemate version much better from a user point of view. It is responsive and does what I expect. I no longer use the pocket pc version due to its limitations and sluggish response. Note that this is not a criticism of cachemate, it's a criticism of the Pocket PC OS. The Palm works so much better with CacheMate.
  8. Is "Affective" a specific USA term that translates to "Effective" in UK speak?
  9. My "freebie" came through today too . Set up was a doddle. I also got an "invite" which allows someone to get one for free also (duly sent out) . Almost tooooo good to be true
  10. This chap Michael Barron AKA Utterchaos picked up a geocoin of mine on 23rd May 2006. I've emailed him numerous times through gc.com and also a yahoo address I have managed to obtain but to date have not had a reply. sad.gif Though he's not logged a cache since June 2006 he still accesses gc.com, indeed his last visit was 20th January 2007 mad.gif. I'd very much like to get my coin back into circulation, and if anyone knows this individual I'd appreciate it if you could give him a "nudge". These are the contact details I have for him ..... Michael Barron Cowplain, Hampshire I have an email address and am happy to provide it to anyone who may be in a position to assist me in getting this coin back into circulation. Re: earlier comments made in the now closed thread (closed by Deceangi not me) I'm unconvinced that comments about "stealing other peoples property" would help in getting my coin back into circulation.
  11. Indeed, but "compulsary" should read "compulsory"
  12. Because he can & he desires to do so. What you consider as "a waste of space" others may think of as being useful historical info. We all cache in different ways .....
  13. I didn't know that. Can you post a link please? Try this

  15. Puzzle & Multicaches to be banned or shuffled off to Waymarking.
  16. Great stuff - I well remember the Red Fox last time we were there John
  17. My GPS has a big arrow on it that points to the cache
  18. Better a Micro than a multi or puzzle cache IMHOP
  19. According to my GSAK database (which shows the 1st placed in Hampshire as being 06/07/2001 - there may well be and probably are earlier ones) as of Sunday 19th there are ..... 521 available caches in Hampshire 22 temporarily unavailable 183 that are archived A total of 726. I think, therefore, the "race" is a non-starter.
  20. I really enjoy a days caching in London (the ale & company have been exemplar) , all I need is a friendly cacher who'll let me kip at their drum for the night (maybe the night before too) and I'll be there Shame bhodisatva won't be there though, he's been like a piece of furniture at the previous events
  21. On the contrary, I find that particular cable very useful indeed. I maintain a full UK cache database on my Palm (Cachemate, of course) but not on my GPSr. Where ever I find myself with an hour or so to spare I can connect the two together and download a few local waypoints in less time that it takes to type this posting. Seconded, a very useful cable to have in yer caching kitbag
  22. The COY is nice and roomy, the "visuals" are good and the beer was excellent (Sam Smiths) and the glasses were pretty cool too . It gets my vote
  23. I give (mostly) and am happy to receive TNLN type of logs. I've walked through too many woods/copses/forests for any of them to be distinct. I've also found loads of caches that are hidden by the proverbial pile of twigs, again, none are really that distinct. I now invariably log that "I've been there" aka "TNLN TFTC". Suits me Sir!
  24. What are Ghukars? Are they related to the Gurkhas in any way?
