  1. In these parts there seem to be alot of people who have coins that they use to track their mileage. It's not uncommon at all to see someone has acquired a coin and decided to do this after they've gotten into caching and then they go log it through the cache with note. My dog has a geodog geocoin and when I take him caching, I log it in and out of the caches. Mostly just because I like to see it get some movement, but I'm always hopeful when we're out on the trails he might be discovered!
  2. WOW! tough call, but for my two cents I like: Black Nickel/ Ant. Silver Nickel/ Ant. Gold
  3. Yeah, I found the info eventually - the way the article was written it was a little misleading and I didn't want a single person to miss out on the fun!
  4. Boy I can't wait to have these in my hot little hands!!! Whoo hooo!!!
  5. I can feel your frustration, it seems like the samples have been in for almost a month and still no coins. I guess that's why in another thread Crake said dealing with the minters directly was not for the faint of heart. I'm sure it's frustrating for everyone.
  6. Aushiker, I really appreciate your efforts but I was wondering I could get my release location changed to Alabama? I'm moving here within the next two months and I'm here at least five days out of the week now. I'm in Mobile, AL 36605 if you need more detailed info. Thanks! Julie
  7. Is there an update on these? I'm (im)patiently waiting!
  8. There was a great article in the Mobile Press Register the other day about Geocaching and specifically about an event being hosted on the Gulf Coast called the Alabama Open Invitational. However, the article mentioned that more details can be found in the Alabama Forum of the Geocaching website. I came here and was confused not to find any information, so I thought I would help any other newbies out that are looking here for information - The waypoint for the event is GC12MQJ It's being held 29 September 2007 at Gulf State Park Pavilion. Hope to see you there!
  9. My heart was broken that a rare German geocoin was logged into a cache I owned and then disappeared. I noticed someone actually logged that they had taken it and it turns out they dropped it into another cache before it got muggled. IMO, I try to avoid moving coins into caches that have already been muggled (as was the case with the German coin) since if someone found them once - odds are it will be found again.
  10. These arrived over the weekend while I was out of town...LOVE THEM! These are some beautiful coins. But can I ask a silly question - on the regular edition black nickel there isn't a number in the center of the shield - there isn't supposed to be is there?
  11. LOL!!! That was so funny, never has "LOL"seemed so appropriate.
  12. I agree 110%! I think I scroll through the forum several times a day and I'm just AMAZED at the coins/projects that people come up with!
  13. I've mostly been lurking around, but I've made a few little comments here and there. However, I have to ask - how do you guys come up with such amazing artwork for your coins? I have a few ideas floating around but no idea how to take them from the abstract to the real world.
  14. I'm new to coin collecting, but my small collection already contains several coins that might be "fancier" than this one but it will always be my favorite! I love seeing pictures of other Geodogs and I've even given one away to a fellow cacher here in these parts!
  15. I'd love to be added to the list as well, I live in the USA on the Gulf Coast (I live in the panhandle of Florida and work in Mobile, AL) so I'm happy to do what I can from here!
  16. Any word on when these will be shipped yet?
  17. I was just sitting at work and realized I hadn't seen a post about these in a while - I had a sudden surge of panic that I had missed them! Glad that's not the case!
  18. Do you have a general idea when you expect to have these coins in hand? (Like others I'm starting to feel a little frustrated by the preorder issues that have been popping up lately.)
  19. Thanks for the compliment! Actually Rascal is an Italian Greyhound (or so the breeders and the papers say) but he just barely makes the breed standard. (Obviously, he's a bit big.) I admit he's the only IG I've ever seen Geocaching in these parts!
  20. I'm rather new and I don't have very many coins, but I love this coin! I think Rascal does too, though he wasn't crazy about me waking him up to take pictures for his "page" http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1024721
  21. I ordered a set as well. I'm sorry about the dies but was thrilled to have a chance to pick these up!
  22. The closest thing I've found is a blog called Cachebug.
  23. My goodness these went quick! Glad I ordered a few already!
