  1. The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. Not sure about Switzerland, but dress appropriately in any case.
  2. So - you find the twenty dollar bill in a cache. Do you actually trade up? I might have to dump my whole bag in.
  3. Were it me, I'd be wearing my SCUBA fins with wet-suit boots. The wet-suit boots work fine for hikes up to four or five miles.
  4. I only did a few Redding caches last fall. Kapusta was my favorite, though it sounds like it's in need of maintenance now.
  5. My four-year-old is my caching companion. She never says NO to a treasure hunt. She can do about 1.5 miles now without whining. is learning to follow the compass pointer on the GPS to decide which fork in the trail. It's a great time to teach her about wilderness survival, how to find her way back to the car, what to do if she gets lost, all about bugs and snakes. She of course wants booty when we get to the cache, so we don't often do micros and never virtuals. She used to want to take something from every cache and I'd trade for her. Now she's willing to trade items back and forth from her own collection. Oh yeah. That's her in the photo to the left.
  6. DataSave is free, so it must be somehow inferior. DataSend seems overpriced to me. What's the difference between the two? btw, I found this site where you can get the free version.
  7. I know about a trail exchange feature at TOPO,com and about lostoutdoors.com Are there other places out there to exchange waypoints? Specifically, I'm looking for airport waypoints in California so that I don't have to type them all in myself.
  8. GOOP in all of its forms (aren't they really all the same?) is amazing stuff. Very useful. I had to abrade the surface of the magnets to get epoxy to stick to them. I actually sandblasted one. Worked fine. But most commonly, I wrap the {item + magnet} in electrical tape.
  9. small blue text on same line. quoting myself:
  10. green textbig text big green text. code text small blue text on same line.
  11. You have to obtain the coordinates for that point from the map... difficult to do in Lat/Longitude, but simple if you switch to UTM coordinates.
  12. My best was a bobcat walking a parrallel trail to me and my horse while caching. Constantly scaring up wild pigs and coyotes around here.
  13. (Hoping that I have more finds than posts... one way to find out...) 79 finds.
  14. Even if I were a member, I don't think that I'd go looking for caches at either of the poles. Something I always wondered though... What would be the latitude/longitude at the North or South Pole???

  16. I've been finding lots of pens in caches don't work. Has anyone correlated ball-point pen effectiveness to the temperature of the ink? If my suspicion is true, then how about tips for warming up a frozen bic. I like pencils, but seem to break them all the time.
  17. Depends. Is that an African or a European chicken???
  18. This is Myles: Someone once claimed that I shouldn't call him a dog, so I had Myles bite 'em. Best thing about a dog this big is he can carry me to the caches.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Jamie Z:Referring to roads as _the_ I-5 or _the_ 118 must be a California thing, huh? Just to be clear: it's a SOUTHERN California thing.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Team Canope:I will be using an ammo can <snip> I was thinking about placing a lock on the can and hiding the key as a multi. Any thoughts on this? Team Canope Sounds good. there's a chance that the key may eventually get lost. I think the combination lock probably would work out better. You could get the combination by going to some other cache, by solving a puzzle, or some other means. BTW, is there a place for a padlock on ammo cans? The Bigg Family "Delta-S"
  21. Hey. My job is even on-topic. I'm an engineer and I build satellites. The Bigg Family "Delta-S"
  22. bears/wolves/cougars/coyotes the rule: shoot, shovel, and shut-up.
  23. maybe a checksum should be included so one could tell if the found answer was right. The Bigg Family "Delta-S"
