  5. I cant even remember if my commodore had a modem.... I cant even remember if it was a commodore
  6. Im 14 right now, ive been on the net for...a LONG time (at least to me), before we had alot of spam, before we had high speed, we had a.....28kbps "High speed" (chuckles) modem..or was it a 14.4kbps..... I forget. I was like 4-5 years old I think, before that i used a 286 and a commodore 64. I learned how to program basic out of a "Making Computer Games" book from a local library. Teens from up the street used to come over to use our internet connection or to dial into the local bbs. Ahh, the good old days. I wish I had a better memory.
  7. *Shuts the window blinds* Lol, good night
  8. Wow, its amazing how fast a topic can grow and how diverse it can get. Very interesting read.
  9. I agree too. Its kinda freaky, the amount of mistakes and capitilization, even for a 12 year old . Then again, I believe the CIA has agents in a van across the street. And my line is wiretapped...
  10. Breaktrack: Thats a good idea! As long as its heavily moderated it should be okay.
  11. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew a way to create a cable between a Handspring Visor Deluxe PDA and a GPS 72. Im gonna get a 72 soon, and I have some mapping software for the visor that is compatible with a gps (thanks gm100guy), so all I need to do is figure out how to connect the two. Has anyone ever done this or knows a site about it? Thanks! _CyBo_
  12. At its simplest, if the 50th percentile was X, half of the recorded values were greater than X and the other half were less than X. The 95th percentile is similar except that, if the 95th percentile was Y, only 5% of the recorded values were greater than Y ........uhhhhhhhhhh.................
  13. Well, lets take a look: 1. Mapping, roads, highways, towns,citys,etc... Both have....(I assume your talking about the SporTrak Map and not the basic SporTrak) 2. ruggedized and some what water resistant Both are pretty much water resistant, although there have been reports of water in etrex battery compartments and some of ST cases cracking because of the screws. 3. extra memory for downloading basic topo, or more maps. The legend has 8mb, STMap has 6mb 4. electronic compass Etrex has no electronic compass, STMap has "NorthFinder" which appears to be one...or close to one... 5. Waas Yep. 6. PC cable of some kind. I want to be able to enter the coordinates and names of waypoints by some kind of software on my pc .I want to sync that info into the GPS. Both come with a PC interface cable. 7.Color , I wanted to look at color units but not needed. I haven't seen a color unit in a store yet! Anybody have one? What do they look like outdoors? Are they worth the money? Are they bright in dimmly lit areas? I don't know how much of this is even possible new to this and looking for some veteran help. I really dont think highly of colour screens. They use too much battery power and are sometimes harder to read. Note: All of this was based on my research as I too am going to get a gps soon. I decided to go for the non-mapping GPS 72 though Hope that helps!
  14. ANY 2 GPS units? Etrex Vista and StreetPilot 2610 (Mouth Waters).

    FRS RADIOS

I normally carry both an FRS radio and a ham HT on me when im out. Like gm100guy said, there are tons of people using them at wonderland.
  16. Yep, im going for the 72. Now, to get walmart to match the price, should i just print out a page from gpscentral.ca, or their contact info, or what??? Thanks...
  17. LOL, only 1 phase left, convincing my parents. I have all the money ready though.
  18. Ok thanks, yeah, ill probably go with the 72 then, since there isnt a big difference between them, just resolution and ext. antenna port. Thanks!
  19. Ok, so Ive decided to go for the garmin, since there seems to be alot more support for that. Im not sure if any other walmarts in my area have the 76 (the one near me has the 72). I think Ill go with the 76 because of the PC cable and the external antenna port...unless I can find a good deal on a 72 PC cable. Ill be calling around other walmarts today. Anyone have any other comments? Thanks again everyone! *Edit* Dang, they all only have either the 72 or the GPSMAP76 [This message was edited by Cybo on September 19, 2003 at 12:35 PM.]
  20. Anders: What do you use the mapping on it for? Just for when driving around?
  21. Whoops sorry, i had a head ache when I was typing. Yes, its all 2's instead of 3's. Future shop didnt carry magellan last time i checked though. Ill have to do a comparison of all these non-mapping units tommorow. Ok, thank you all!
  22. Here they are: GPS72 $339 GPS12 $300 ST $349 They dont have the 76. What do you guys think? Btw, Does Wal Mart match prices?
