  1. Hi folks, I have a magellan explorist 210. When I download cache info, I rename the file to the cache name. Then I put it into the GPS using the magellan geocach manager software that came with my unit. Most of the cache info files have gotten onto the gps just fine. out of about 20 that I uploaded to the unit, 2 have gone goofy on me. When I click on that cache info in the gps, it brings up a different cache all together. Lets say I have cahce A, B, C, 1, 2 and 3. When I callup the info for A B C 1 and 2, it is all correct. When I go to points of interest >geocaches pts> then cache 3. What shows up is a different cache. On the actuall screen is geocache pts then a list of cache info I downloaded to the GPS. Clicking on Cache 3 gets me icon of a file on the left. on same line is "Up One Level". Under that on the next line should be cache 3. Clicking on it will bring up the info for cache 3. What is actually there is the name of another cache. Clicking on it brings up the info for that cache. I hope that I have explained this well enough. Does anyone have any idea what is going on, why this happens? Any way to correct it so that it doesn't do this any more? Thanks for any help offered, Rob
  2. Sorry, didn't realize I had done this double post. If someone can delete this, please feel free
  3. A good start. You can also pour vegetable soup on your shirt and a little water on your crotch. OK, both of you are not right............lol
  4. Guidlines????? Why didn't I think of these........duh Thanks Rob
  5. Hi everyone, While walking around the area of where I recently found a cach, I found a couple of places that would be good to hide a cache. They are about 20 to 30 feet away from the original cache. Would placing a cach of my own that close to another cache be ok? I'm not really sure about doing it. I would'nt be upset about someone doing this to a cach of mine, but I don't know how others would feel about it. What do you think? Thanks, Rob
  6. What exactly is this? Is it something that has your name on it or something? I have a few "junk drawers" in my house. They all collect coins. The one in my dresser has foreign coins, nick nacks from work, Things I have found at work (sunglasses), packs of unopened baseball cards from my collecting days and all other kinds of things. I went through that drawer one day and pulled out some things that I thought would be neat to find that I don't want to keep. I keep them in a pouch in my glove compartment and just bring this with me. Right now that pouch is down to foreign coins. Rob
  7. Up untill a few years ago, I would say that I was 19, at least thats how I felt and quite often how I acted. Now I'm leaning more towards saying I'm getting to be around 29 because I'm not still feeling like a 19 yr old. My wife says to me, "Just remember, you turned 39 before me!" Rob
  8. Thanks. MAybe I'll have the speedometer chacked out one day if it's not too expensive. neat avitar embra Rob
  9. It is probably about half the size of a can of soda. Two keychains, dog tag type bug, business card size papers all in a ziplock bag. I'll try to find the cache/caches first to make sure I can find them and that they are the right size then I'll bring the bug up there with me the next time I go up there. Thanks for the tip on this cache. I might try to find it this weekend if I can stand the cold. Rob
  10. Hi, I'm new to using a GPS unit (New here too). I have found a few caches already. The coordinates for the caches and the coordinates on my unit have been the same, so I'm thinking that this part of my unit is ok. It's the miles per hour field that I'm wondering about. I have checked it in two different vehicles and against a couple of radar speed traps. It always says that I'm going 2 to 2.5 mph slower than what my speedometer reads. Any way to reset the accuracy of this? Thanks for any help, Rob
  11. Hi folks, I travel to NY city very often. There is a cache in my home area that has a bug in it. I'd like to take it to NY for the owner. The lists for caches in Manhattan that I was looking at all seem to be micros. Does anyone know of a small cache in the manhattan area where I can drop off this cache? I'd like to stick to Manhattan because I'm a little familiar with it. Not really familiar with the other areas of the city. It is a bug along with a caribeener and couple of keychains I'm new to geocaching. If this request is out of the ordinary and not allowed, I'll happily remove the post and apologize. Thanks, Rob
  12. Thanks for the welcomes. I forgot about the ratings on each cache. Starting out on the easier ones does make sense. I found two of them today. Now just trying to figure out how to log them. Rob EDIT: Now I know how to log the find. Put another post and it was answered already. Thanks again
  13. Hi everyone I have found two caches today. I was trying to log them in on this site. I went to My Account then to Geocaches (Mine) . After I click Geocaches, a form comes up. Is this the what I fill out to log that I have found a cache or it it to fill out that I have placed a cache someplace? Is logging a found cache only available as a Premium Member? Thanks, Rob
  14. Just wanted to say hello. I have been looking around the site for a few days now. I figured out how to upload GPS coordinants into my unit. I have a few stored in there now. I'm probably going to try to find a few tomorrow. I'm trying to decide how to go look for caches. The ones closest to my house first or by user name. I live in Niceville Fla, which is in the NW Panhandle. I noticed that there are a few people from my area that have caches around here. I'll be looking for them real soon. If there is ever a get together around here and newbies are welcome, please let me know if you would. Well, I'm off to read my GPS directions and try to figure out how to use it Have a good one, Rob
