  1. Cause I still have 11 left over from my pocketpc I didnt go throught all that trouble though.
  2. Dirt, If you live in the US, then you will need CitySelect 5. Amazon.com has the cheapest price I have seen. The basemap on the 60cs leaves alot to be desired, but has the interstates and most major highways. I give the basemap a d. Anyway thats what you need. EDIT: The basemap does not have THE major highway around my house (but does have some minor ones) Don't worry about your basemap being defective, it just sucks. My legend had a much better basemap!
  3. Look, at GPSBabel as well. It seems to be able to convert from just about anything to just about anything. A batch file could easily be set up.
  4. If you want to spend a whole day at one cache, do Pure Evil or Pack a Lunch. Bwahaha Other cool caches around the Nashville area: Honey Locust Cam, Train Wreck Redo (havent found this one yet), Sticks and Stones, Total Confusion, Cumberland Cliffhanger, Going Gibson (middle of Downtown). Good Luck EDIT:Did a real neat cache today called My Church Cache
  5. How observant that you noticed. Since the coordinates were for my back yard, I decided to remove them. I don't blame you a bit! It stood out on the satellite page though. Anyway, one thought to you. Get a screen protector on that beautiful screen!!
  6. In my area, a certain person hid a street light cache in a relatively busy area about 20' in the air, in plain sight. I saw it, didnt make an attempt to get it and logged it a find. In the log I stated that if he had a problem with me not signing the log, I would delete it. He asked me to, and I did. I just didnt want to go through the trouble to get it down. hehe
  7. If you were 15' from the cache, and saw it/could identify it, go ahead and log it. I have had several instances where I logged a find even though I didnt sign it. 1 was a micro and I couldnt get the danged thing open. I did note in the log that if the cache owner needed a precise description of the cache location I would fill him/her in.
  8. Too bad you edited the coordinate of the first screen shot, I was coming over for dinner Anyway the main strengths of the 60c series are color, autorouting, waypoint averaging. I am also beginning to like the geocaching mode more. Its nice to have a list of caches you hit after a long day. I also feel the antenna is very strong as is the accuracy. My GPS stays on EPE of 7' a heckuva lot.
  9. ...please pass the crow (yum) Hehe I thought much as you until I did some testing.
  10. Now that I think about it, I think you are right. I have the 60C, and it doesnt happen to me. Turn OFF the compass and try it!
  11. Hmmm, I must confess this does have me a little concerned. I can hardly be upset if people don't read through all the posts to find answers. I certainly wouldn't. It is starting to get a bit out of hand. On the other side of the coin, I do like the fact there is just one place to go for all discussion GSAK related. I could help things out by knocking up a FAQ, but I'm not sure this is a final solution. GSAK does seem to be gaining more momentum that I initially thought. I am open to suggestions on this one. If one knows what he is looking for, he can go through the thread rather quickly by using ctrl-f on each page. Even then it takes a while!
  12. In answer to your question, GSAK actually uses its own algorithm to calculate smart names. However, it also lets you set the length of the smart name. GPSBabel does use a different algorithm. So I guess your question needs clarification. Is your issue that you prefer the GPSBabel calculated "smart name", or was the issue just that you couldn't find a way to set the length of the "smart name" My main issue is that if I have 30 caches in the area zzzzzzzzzz1-30, then 20 out of 30 become the same waypoint, zzzzzzzz9. I believe you may have said on page 8 of this thread that the next release would fix this, but I thought it was GPSbabels doing so I cheated and copied the latest gpsbabel into the GSAK directory with no effect. I also tried running it through GPSBabel after exporting a GPX with GSAK. It appears GPSBabel was unkind to nonGroundspeak gpx files because it used the smartname features on the notefield which I had changed in GSAK to difficulty/terrain. The effects were spectacular albeit unwanted and confusing,, ie do you want to go to waypoint (1.5_21 or )3(1.5). Little more than you asked but I hoped that clarified somewhat. EDIT: In the above example GPSBabel's smart file name would correctly decipher each waypoint to be unique. zzzzzzzz27
  13. Clyde, Congratulations on reaching the 10 page milestone *ahem* Anyway, just a quick question. Does GSAK use GPSBabel to generate the smart names? I really like the way GPSBabel produces the smart names with the gpx, snlen function, but GSAK wont give me those results. I even copied the newest gpsbabel beta over. Thanks
  14. Avoid UTurn is on (in the route menu and your compass (sensor) is off?
  15. Thought Id bump this so shadow doesnt forget to get back with us
  16. Avoid UTurn is on and your compass is off?
  17. just make sure your routing data of City Select gets uploaded as well by clicking the button in the lower left of mapsource on the map tab I think. Also the other day, my 60C was giving me a screwy route, and I was ticked.. Thats when I noticed I had it on topo. After switching off topo and back to cs it routed normally. I breathed a sigh of relief then
  18. Just select the large cities you are visiting to to stick in the 60cs. You should have plenty of room and autoroute still functions.
  19. It looks like the big change here is the addition of .gdb files.(garmin database files) the .mps format is relegated to import/export.
  20. No, then you just find by address and let the 60cs get you there. same thing you just find by address
  21. thcri, You are absolutely confusing me. If you are using the 60c(s) and you have city select 5.0+ (in North America), all you need is 1 waypoint, the final destination. Thats it. It builds the rest of the waypoints for you. Dont use city select., use the 60cs!
  22. if one has a palm or pocket pc then software is available, like pocket stars (pocketpc)
  23. Is the R30001 the correct model #? Are you sure ??
