  1. How much do you want for it? You can also reply to my email pawcreek59@yahoo.com Right now I'm doing without a gps which makes it a little trickier. I was into it a few years ago and found 70 geocaches, went to Geo-Woodstock in Raleigh, was full blown. I was in an accident that sorta benched me for a while, but now I'm ready to plunge back in and need a gps to get rolling. Give me a holler if you haven't already sold it. Thanks, Ramapirate
  2. I'm going up to GeoWoodstock tomorrow and would like to have a string of quick, close to I-85 caches between Charlotte and Raleigh. Any ideas? This is short notice, but hollar if you got a few. Thanks, Ramapirate
  3. As much as I'd love to have one in my front yard just to be able to see cachers when they come by and log in, my neighbors would probably think I was dealing drugs or something. I love my neighbors but, bless their hearts, they are busybodies. And if they saw strange people coming to my house and pulling a can out of the bushes over and over, things would get real weird real quick. Plus I don't necessarily won't all you bunch of yahoos schlepping all over my yard . I mean, I love you like you were my kin, but "pool or the pond", I think most of ya'll are more "pond". I'm just messing with ya'll, and if I ever decide to take the wheels off my house, I'll invite ya'll to a kegger. Behave yourselves, company's coming, Ramapirate
  4. If you have a technique to share that has worked for you consistantly then by all means, share it. So far I have used the "Try to be as stealth as a clumsy 250 pound 6' tall 47 year old can, muddle around until I luck up and find it and get out as quickly as possible" method. So far it's worked in a fashion, but I wouldn't recommend it. I consider myself as a good example, in that, others can learn from my mistakes. If I only stand as a warning to others, so be it. 5. The ones that I seem to always have the hardest times with are the ones that have been placed in burfordi holly bushes. Those real stiff holly bushes that have the sharp pointy leaves. That seems to be the most popular place to put a cache in the Charlotte, N.C. (I admit, I'm guilty of placing them in them too) I seem to come away with bloody arms every time, poking around for 15 or twenty minutes and having to make several trips back to the area before finally finding the cache. Does anyone else have that issue. And yet, I still love finding them. Call me crazy! HH, Ramapirate
  6. Apology accepted! Thank you, and I mean it. This is a great hobby and I enjoy being a part of it! Ramapirate
  7. I'm sorry I'm Sorry I'm sorry, please accept these warm fuzzies as a token of my deepest grief over offending everyone. I'm sorry, please do not keep clear of my caches, I'm but a poor realitively newbie to this game and should learn to be more sympathetic to others. I'M SORRY!!!!!
  8. I'll report this thread and have it shut down myself if you guys think it's out of hand. I'm serious and don't want to hurt anyone. I just want people to be aware of how they come off in the real world to non-geocachers. Not all caches are hid out in the boondocks where you can get by with being the wacko that we all like to be at times when we are getting our hunt on. Ask my son why daddy has the red mark and bruise on his forehead. Pay attention to your surroundings, not the screen of the GPS. Words to live by. Ramapirate
  9. I promise I'm not trying to hurt anyones feelings about this. I have as much or more difficulty finding 1/1's as the next cat. I'm sorry at this point that I even brought it up. There was a cache that I threatened to bring a chainsaw to if something didn't give soon, so I'm a whiner too. Probably a bigger whiner than the guy I'm whinning about. Kum-by-yah, and a round of warm fuzzies for the house, Ramapirate
  10. Yep, on the surface and without hearing the lady at the dry cleaners near the cache's part of the story it would seem thus. The dry cleaner lady is an innocent bystander and she informed me this morning when I went to find the cache (the FTF got to place it somewhere else and send me the coordinates, I hadn't seen it in it's new place yet and I went and found it in a couple of minutes) that the guy was fussing at her because he couldn't find it. She said he came driving in like a maniac before she could get her place of business open (about 6:45 or so)and jumped out of his car and started running around like a maniac. She was okay with it once she knew his intentions, but her knee jerk reaction wasn't good. Moral to the story: Be aware of how you may look to muggles.
  11. Owwww!, I will consider my self thumped and duely "told off"! I guess that was a wee bit harsh of me. Please, no offense to anyone, I was just venting a little. This hobby can be a bit confounding at times. Re-commence flogging, Ramapirate
  12. That was good! I have a cousin that's 48 and just starting to outgrow that. She use to wouldn't walk to the street to get the mail without doing herself up. Thanks for sharing that, Ramapirate Oh, and by the way, is "melon" child-ese for "Marilyn"? That's what we call my sister-in-law due to my son calling her that when he was little.
  13. Whine, whine, whine! I wonder how some people have found any caches, much less big numbers. I got a post from someone with nearly 200 caches found that was "crying" because they couldn't find a simple cache I'd placed near a parking lot in a shopping center in an upscale neighborhood. They were blaming the fact they hadn't found it on everyone but themselves. (My dad used to say that I couldn't find my nose with both hands and a flashlight, yet I'm finding geocaches pretty well on my own) Who led these people to the other caches? If I didn't have the skills, I'd find another hobby. There are caches out there that for one reason or another I'll never find unless I follow someone else in and hope they find it, but I try not to whine about it. If ya'll catch me whinning, please give me a good verbal thump! Time to flog the crew, that always seems to cheer me up Ramapirate
