  1. I've just invested in a Sony Ericsson P900 Smartphone, which runs Symbian OS. Does anyone know if (1) there is any GPS/Mapping software available for this platform? (2) Can I plug my eTrex Venture into it? (I haven't got the phone yet so still in the dark!) I want to do a sat / nav type thing if possible - something like TomTom but cheaper!
  2. ...and biting insects! Wake me up in November... ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  3. Besides, the filthy little toerags that burgle houses in our neck of the woods haven't got computers - if they did have, they'd have turned it into a wrap of smack long ago. You're crediting them with too much intelligence. ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  4. quote:Originally posted by jstead:...this is getting miles from Geocaching... Not so!... The aforementioned toe infection is the result of chilblains, highly likely to have been caused by an ill advised geocaching expedition during the winter months (in fact - I suspect I did it on one of yours so it's your fault!), and worsened by further, even more ill advised geocaching expeditions that followed! Personally, I feel it merits a new forum all of it's own - 'Disgusting Geocaching injuries' ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  5. Call that a toe infection? Check out this baby that afflicted me earlier this year That's a toe infection! ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  6. Can we have a button to vote for one less UK forum? GC.com are more likely to shut us down than give us another forum, because quite frankly, we have become an embarrassment to the rest of the Geocaching world. I truly beseech GC to close us down for six months, allow us all to remember what the hobby was that brought us all here in the first place, and maybe things will go back to the way they where when I first visited - a pleasure to be a part of and a credit to this, and any sport. There. ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  7. LOL! In these days of forum sniping, someone is bound to tell you this is off topic/not appropriate/in poor taste/all three, but it made me chuckle! ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  8. Jeez, I know I've not been on in a while but where the hell did all my posts go? ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  9. Merman, that looks a nice bit of kit - pity these weren't around when I upgraded to my boring old nokia. I'll have to wait till chrimbo for one of those. Mind you, the wife really deserves a new phone... ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  10. I also broke my duck on a couple of quality JStead caches. First impressions and all that! Well done, and keep the caches coming! ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  11. Here it is. It's the entry by Geocraig. ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  12. There is a cache like this with a log entry where a cacher actually got arrested on suspicion of whatever these people get arrested for. It was quite funny. I'll see if I can find it. Imagine trying to explain it by saying you were geocaching! ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  13. Hmm interesting... I would definitely drink a beer found in a cache, but probably would not drink a coke. Now I'm beginning to question my values! Talking of bottled beers and pubs, I once saw a dray wagon unloading crates of beer against a wall outside a pub, and this dog found the pile of crates to be a great relief...I've been a pints man since then ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  14. Even though food in caches is discouraged, chocolate bars still seem to get put in with amazing regularity. No-one wants them, so they linger and linger. My question is this. Would you ever, EVER eat a twix you found in a cache? I mean even if you were starving to death? ____________________________________________ Everyone is entitled to my opinion...
  15. We just started using the laptop on our caching missions. In the UK, we are lucky enough to be able to view ordnance survey maps for caches at the click of a mouse. We cut and paste the map into photoshop, identify the best access and parking and mark it, then save the map out as a bitmap. We then import the map into GPSthing and calibrate it. We then hook the eTrex up to the laptop, and hey presto - sat nav! Then we follow the needle to the cache, and when we get close, we appear on the map, and navigate straight to the trailhead. I can't tell you how much frustration this has saved us. We then put the laptop in our rucksack while we walk out to the cache site, and occasionally we get it out at the cache site, to view the cache page and decrypt the clue/read the logs etc. Takes a bit of preparation the night before but it adds to the fun, and my son is learning how to use maps, computers etc
  16. You're never too young - our 13 month old twins already have a couple of finds under their belts (well those tape things that keep their nappies on). We tried a couple of caches with the babies in the three wheeler, but then we invested in a couple of papooses (backpack type thingies), so now we can go anywhere (OK we haven't done any 5/5's yet!) My eight year old boy Joseph always comes along and loves it. The following conversation took place on the way back to the car after last weeks outing, when we did Clough Head Surprise, Simon's Lodge and Lead Mines: Him: Thanks for taking me, Dad! Me: I thought you didn't want to come? Him: Yes but I didn't know it was going to be this good! It was a 'father and son moment'!
  17. Just before I make my very minor complaint, may I first say that I think that the map is fantastic and a landmark in British Geocaching. My tiny little moan is that at low levels of zoom, the town of Blackpool is visible, whilst two or three increments of zoom are required to see the City of Preston. Surely this needs looking at!
  18. Man, are you in for some flak, starting a topic about widescreen TV's! Personally, I don't care, I think there's room on here for a bit of diversity, and if one member of a community can help another, whatever it's with, I say carry on. So: Nice choice with the Philips - don't change your mind - that's the brand you want. Mine is 28" 100hz. Got it cos I couldn't really afford the 32" version. When I got it home, I was glad I did get the 28" cos it was massive. Make sure you really need a 32" before you fork out.
  19. Is the Jeep yellow or is the Jeep yellow?
  20. Man, that's a nasty spray job, Rusty! Where'd you get that paint? This is how it should be done. Took all the badges off and everything.
  21. It sounds like this is your problem:- The PC is trying to help you by using cookies to remember who you are, saving you the trouble of logging in. Simply log out then log in as the new account. I have more than one account, and this is how I do it. Knew someone would beat me to it!
  22. quote:Originally posted by Warwick Bear:...is this what it is all about? Not too sure I have understood the obective, if so I am off! Why do people object so strongly to posts that aren't solely concerned with geocaching? The UK Forums aren't exactly brimming with new topics every day, and off topic posts are needed to keep it interesting. Surely it's OK to 'socialize' with other members in the forum? I would understand objections to this in the 'General' Forum which is busy and has enough new 'geocaching' related input to keep it ticking over, but the UK forum could quickly become stagnant if this kind of topic is excluded. My view is that if you don't like the sound of a topic, don't read it, and certainly don't reply to it. This one was clearly labelled as to it's contents.
  23. In answer to your question: Yes you are. However... I can fully appreciate the reasons why someone would use a persona like yours for use in the forums. And... your trollish activities to date are non-offensive, lighthearted and often humorous. So... Troll on!
  24. This will save me so much time! Thanks very much!
