  1. EXACTLY! This is exactly what I wanted to post!! I am so confused I have an old etrex. yup, just a yellow etrex, not a legend. It never shows me any closer than 17'. That is the best I have ever been to a cache. so I get to sniff 'em out from there! I have small, female hands, and want the flexability of maybe using it for trips, (my husband NEVER asks for directions..... and doesn't believe that I know where I am going). any other thoughts that you guys have will be very much appreciated!! OK I found a dealer in my area after a long search. I actually went in to the store and held each unit. The description posted above about the feel is pretty close about one feeling like a remote and the other like a cell phone. I would like to add that the 76csx feels more like a "large" remote and may not fit in your pocket like the 60csx would. The 60csx seems to feel a little better with my smaller hands but the 76csx wasn't too bad. Overall, both units were nice but I am leaning toward the 60csx as my flavor of the week. I am just waiting for my wallet to open up...
  2. Alot of non Garmin products in stock at the stores. I would have to special order just to hold the units. Just send me your gps unit with a self addressed stamped package so I can send it back after my window shopping...
  3. I agree on that 100 percent. One problem is that I can't seem to locate a dealer in my area to see it in person. I will be ordering online so I just wanted feedback. Thanks for yours...
  4. seems like alot on this thread like the 76csx versus the 60csx?
  5. i'm more confused than ever now... lol. i started out wanting a vista cx and then went to looking at the 60csx. i am now considering the 76csx. sheeesh... pretty much i want the same thing... outdoor, geocaching, auto, etc. which fits better in a pocket? any pictures would be good. the pictures with the hands can throw you off... big hands or small hands. which unit would work better for small hands and for big hands? thanks again for this thread.
  6. thanks for the post. i just wanted to see how much this hobby has changed with the age groups since it started. it definately has my interest. thanks for the replies and keep them coming all...
  7. I thought I would start a thread to see how old everybody is. I was just wondering what age bracket this hobby seems to attract? I just turned 41 here in California...
  8. Welcome our newest CVC Member, Bubnme! thanks all... i was just messing around and thought i would pop down and read this thread. funny how things work out...
  9. ok looks like i am looking at the 60csx now. does the car charger come with the unit now? i read some reviews on amazon and it said that the charger wasn't necessary because it came with the unit. i was looking at the 60csx, cover, 1 gb card, and city nav nt version for $477 if i opened the amazon visa card to get a $30 discount. the vista cx would be $366 after the discount but i included a car charger in the price. any help would be appreciated.
  10. go figure... i got it working now.
  11. would you recommend this unit or should i spend a little more for a better unit? i am looking for a good alla round car, outdoor, geocaching unit. thanks in advance all...
  12. i was looking at purchasing this unit and found a good price on amazon.com but now i wanted to receive some opinions about this unit. i wanted a good all around unit for my vehicle as well as outdoors. pros and cons please...
  13. yes... i just can't seem to find the "re-register" link. when i try to recreate a new account, it says the name is already taken. i know it is an easy fix but i can't seem to find it. btw, i just realized i was posting in the wrong forum.
  14. ok i am stumped... how can i add my picture in the forums? i tried to log out and relogged in. i uploaded the picture but no dice. any help would be great.
  15. I take it the GPSr's you've seen for $238 are not the vista CX. Anyways... my only big suggestion is that you buy from a REPUTABLE dealer. It'll save you hastle in the long run, such as if you need to return anything. At Tigergps.com they sell the etrex Vista CX for $250. For $334 you can get the much better Gpsmap 60CX and 76CX as well. Take your pick... As for City Navigator (I take it you live in North America), you can get it for $100 at amazon.com (the non NT version). If you REALLY want the whole City Navigator on a card you can either buy a 2GB MicroSD or buy the NT version. Personally, I did the former. As for Garmin TOPO, you can buy it pretty much anywhere, search around. thanks for the reply. i was referring to the garmin etrex vista cx for $238.00 when i posted. sorry for the confusion in my post but i wanted to know of a reputable and low cost dealer. it looks like i will be going to tigergps.com for a purchse unless others can suggest any other sources whether they be good or bad. thanks again...
  16. hi all... i am looking at purchasing a handheld gps and i was wondering where would be a good site to purchase one at a good price. i have seen them as low as $238 total but i am wondering if they are lower for the garmin etrex vista cx. i am also looking some software like the topo and the city navigator. any input would be helpful. thanks in advance.
