  1. Now mine (Vista HCx) is doing this. I have tried the hard restart and change location bits suggested on the Garmin website. Webupdater gets to 13% then errors out as above. I have gone to the perry site mentioned above and downloaded the chipset files, but don't know how to install it manually. Any help?
  2. After using the original Garmin Vista for a few years for hiking and geocaching, I'm looking to buy the newest Vista, which I think is the Hcx. Looking for the best price I came along a confusing review on the www.newegg site. A recent buyer claims the unit he got had an older non-high sensitivity chipset in it. ??? I thought the Hcx was the all new latest and greatest. Is this guy lost or is this something to watch out for?
  3. That would be great Myotis, thanks. Would that by any chance include the River to River trail? By the way, I emailed the folks at National Geographic with my question and they replied that their product is a straight scan of the USGS maps, so any trails included are just what the USGS put there. Pity they didn't scan the forest service maps. Les
  4. Does anyone know if the NG Topo States for Illinois software shows the trails in the Shawnee National Forest? If not, do you know of anything that does? I do some geocaching & hiking in that area and thought this might be helpfull. I have the Garmin Topo 24k package but trail coverage is spotty at best. Thanks for any help.
  5. Just picked up a used Vista (original). I do a lot of hiking and a bit of geocaching. Is the Mapsource Topo US detailed enough to be usefull for hiking? I do most of my hiking in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. Can I reasonably expect it to show the hiking trails? Thanks.
