  1. Thanks Bamboogirl...makes perfect sense to me now! HA!
  2. Believe it or not...you can! And, I might add, in great detail. Go Figure!
  3. Ok, OK... I see silver bells' point as I don't care for puzzle caches. I don't go caching everyday so when I do, I like the standard ones. Simple and fun...that's me. But my son Loves puzzles so he does those first..go figure. I too, am confused by silver bells' attitude considering that he/she owns a puzzle cache, the likes of which consists of a really long, boring code. Also, it seems all of his/her caches have been archived. Were they all muggled or did he/she decide to take all their caches and go home? Makes me want to go, "Hmmmmmm...?" Pardon my ignorence but, besides the obvious referral to altered hosery used to entertain children, what is a "sock puppet"?
  4. I also like the regular caches with a bit-0-swag in them...much more interesting. My least favorite are the nano-caches with a tiny little log where you have to use tiny needle nose pliers just to get the darn thing out of the container.
  5. Question: How do you know this and how do you look this up?
  6. My son and his wife started geocaching and told me about it. I thought it was nerdy at first but then I got rather addicted to it. Hey guess what...I'm a nerd too!
  7. Pretty cool test. I scored a 6.1144. That fact, and because I felt compelled to include all four decimal places, may mean I should have scored slightly higher...heh heh! But notice that I said "geek tendencies". The whole point of my post was to state that I believe everyone has a few, if minor, geek tendencies and no one is better than anyone else. Step back and take a look..it's only geocaching. Hey, it's not like you walked on the moon...you're hunting down "tupperware and ammo cans in the woods"! It seems no matter what the subject is, there are always folks who make themselves feel better by putting others down. Sometimes you just gotta shake your head and smile...
  8. Football's for sissies. Go Rugby! Man..that is true! Rugby is a real man's sport! I know this is a geocaching forum but I'll tell ya those guys are tough!
  9. You know, I find it really interesting how people can take anything as simple and fun as geocaching and screw it up by being "elitist" about it. It's ONLY GEOCACHING, not quantum physics! It's ONLY A GAME, not brain surgury! I admit that I don't know who or what type of people started this geocaching "thing" but I can imagine that it was a few geeks who liked the latest, new electronic GPS gadgets and invented a game around the new toy. Or maybe even a few serious Appalachian Trail types who liked to add a little fun to their long, exhaustive, communing with nature experiences. But I do know one thing, and that is geocaching is a Geek's Game! I don't care who you are...doctor, lawyer, trash collector, Nobel Prize winner, redneck, live in a mansion, live in a mobile home down by the river, have a membership at Augusta National or just a season pass to the local Putt-Putt course... if you like geocaching then you have geek tendencies or you're a full fledged geek! As for me, well I'm a college graduate, own my own bussiness and have a beautiful home in the country..but guess what? I'M A GEEK TOO! That's right and I don't mind admitting it. So, all you "elitist geocachers" out there (and you know who you are) bring your heads down out of the clouds and shape up. Before you start treating others with distain, look in the mirror and tell yourself, "Oh my God...I like geocaching..I'm a geek!" and embrace it, then enjoy it... 'cause it's true.
  10. I don't know of any formal Geocaching groups but once in awhile there is an informal get-together. I could be wrong but the last one was organized by Elliottes4. It was a breakfast (or lunch) cach at Ryans in Staunton. Sorry, that's all I know. If there is more info maybe one of the other long-time cachers in the area can jump in and provide some up-to-date info.
  11. Post-It Note pads? Whats the point of that? NOT a good idea.
  12. Hey count me in! Sounds cool to me, just keep me informed about when and where to send my info. I vote for the standard, four color Groundspeak logo if they don't mind. The GX by Leatherman is cool too, but my opinion is it may be confused with some sort of religious symbol.
  13. Hey Neo, Did you get my email regarding your Virginia I-81 Stop, Rest & Cache ? Let me know, I'd be glad to help!
  14. Hello... I am here...one of the silent majority. I usually don't have the time to post to the forums, I'm too busy trying to decode all the abbreviations and acronyms used in forum-speak.
