  1. Where is a good place to buy cameras online? I just got an estimate of over $200 to repair my old Nikon Coolpix 900 and could probably buy a new camera for not that much more. Love that camera though! Thanks!
  2. Well, all went well. The caches were really nice, well hidden, and took me to places I've never wandered around before! I think I recognized the handwriting and probably this cacher just teamed up with someone. Sorry for the concern. I tend to be less careful if I know I'm the only one going out. Trying to remedy that. I heard/read someone say we should be as careful alone as we are when we are with our kids. I'm trying....... Thanks everyone!!!
  3. Good points. Things I hadn't thought about. I do not post a lot, but love to read these forums! It is a "team" that planted them too. Thanks, I'm going cachin' this morning!!! One is only about 5 minutes from my boys school.
  4. Should I be concerned about going to find these alone? I know the general tell someone where I'm going bring a cell phone be aware of what's (who's) around, etc I guess, since I've only been doing this for a couple of months, I'm just wondering if this is normal. We do have quite a few in the area. Seems they could have found at least a few.
  5. Cape Henlopen State Park has quite a few now too. It's in Lewes, about 45 minutes south of Dover. We had a get together there last month. Hopefully we can do it again in the Fall.
  6. Welcome to "our little world". You'll have a ball! Just don't expect a lot of people to understand why you think this is so great. My boys and I went to check on one of our caches the other day and found a log from someone who had found it by mistake. Says he thought it was really cool and was going to check out the website. Even left a 2003 fishing guide! I thought that was cool. He never logged his visit though. I'm hoping he will though, and many more.

    Ticks

How long does it take to see the bulls eye rash if you've been bitten by a diseased tic?
  8. Are there people who just can't come on Saturday that would like to get together on Sunday? I don't have a problem with that.
  9. Sorry, but that's cool! It looked really strange. Thanks again!
  10. Like this? I think this is a test that I might have failed. Looks strange, but I'm going to try to post it anyway. Thanks
  11. It's posted under Cape Henlopen Get Together (zip is 19958) Don't know how to send the link - sorry. I know a time is not posted yet. What else is missing?
  12. Thanks, will do. I don't get over to NJ too frequently, but there sure are a bunch of caches over there! You guys are so lucky. As the crow flies it's really close to me so there are always caches on my "closest list", but the Ferry takes over an hour, and driving up is even longer. When I get/find some major free time though......... How about (maybe, probably?) April 12th? Seems like everyone is busy in May right now.

    >>Forgot to answer this part. Sorry. DEET is the stuff that damages plastic if you arent careful. DEET is the active ingredient in most skin applied repellents, like Deep Woods Off. The strong stuff can actually melt some plastics! Just remember, permethrin doesn't work on bare skin, and deet doesnt work on clothing. Yo need to use both if you plan on going off-trail in NJ.<<< Are both of these ok to use on/for children? I remember reading a while ago that Deet wasn't good for infants, but don't remember what age they said it was ok for. Thanks! Found a tick halfway in my 6 year old's head last week!
  14. I asked my husband for a GPSr for Christmas. I take my boys camping and read about these and geocaching on a camping list. Now, this year when we plan our camping trips, we're also going to check out the nearby caches to see what area to stay in. I try to drag whoever is around with me. Have taken my daughter with her 2 kids, also have taken my brother-in-law (who has a GPSr for his boat) his son and friend along. They all thought it was pretty cool. I took the 2 boys last Sunday along with mine. They are into it. Hubby, on the other hand, just does NOT get it. He just rolls his eyes when we go. He doesn't go camping with us either. In all fairness though, he works his butt off in the spring and summer and really doesn't have the time.
  15. I know a few of you get down/over to Delaware occasionally and was wondering if there were any people interested in doing a caching get together. Probably at Cape Henlopen State Park (near Rehoboth Beach) on a Saturday or Sunday in April or May? Camping is also available there, not sure when they start though, but would be willing to find out! I've only been caching since January and would love to get together with others who also love to walk around in circles in the woods looking for dollar tree goodies! Anyone interested?
