  1. quote:I placed my Cache not so long ago, But I would like to know if I placed it in a place which People do not find interesting, I thought alot of People would goto visit my cache, I spent ages on the page and ages finding the perfect location but so far only my Uncle has bothered to find it Don't worry about it, I tend to find that visits go in fits and starts, some weekends I'll get several sets of cachers at mine, other times it's quiet for weeks on end. You may find that things will pick up over the Easter break as people get out and about as well. quote:Its in Brill, Which I thought would be accessable for people from all over as its an equal Distance from quite a view places. If you read my log entry in Watermead Wetlands II log book, you'll see that I was actually going to do the Brill cache on my way home from Watermead, but then I had a call from Computer Futures on the way back to the car and ended up talking jobs to them for a while, so by the time I'd finished with them was a bit late! Hopefully I'll get back up that way in the next couple of weeks. Brill is one of these places I've always meant to visit having seen pictures of the village in the 30's reading about the old Brill Tramway. Always wondered if there is anything left, as it's not even marked as disused railway on the maps now. Richard

  3. I was wondering whether you guys thought that the following is fair play with TravelBugs? Take a look at Go Fish at http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=897 and Ribena Bug at http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=5809 Particularly interesting is the log for Go Fish on 21st March at Paddington Dare, which is a virtual cache! Richard
  4. The camera in the cache on Coombe Hill (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=369) ran out of film in January, so a number of visitors have been unable to take their picture, plus there are people eager to see how their pictures came out. The cache owner has been contacted, but hasn't, as yet responded. This poll is to determine what we do next, and will run until 1st April. Richard
  5. The implication from what has been written on the cache descriptions is that Brad has placed all the caches by train, so as is being discussed elsewhere, using public transport makes it more difficult. Anyway, I'll start a poll, and I propose to run it for a week, at which point, depending on the results I'll go swap the camera. Richard
  6. I actually had a similar idea, but thought how annoyed I'd be if someone developed the camera from one of my caches, so e-mailed the cache owner a few days ago asking whether he was planning to collect the camera sometime soon, and if not whether it would be helpful if I got the film developed and replaced the camera. Unfortunately no reply as yet. Richard
  7. Talking of pictures, does anyone know anything about the camera in the Coombe Hill cache? Masher said that it had run out back in January, since it was the first one I did I was wondering whether the pictures had been posted anywhere. Richard
  8. Tomb Raider 1 is in the London Necropolis, right next to Brookwood Station, just take a train out from Waterloo. Richard

  10. The initial spark of interest was the BBC Online article at http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/in_depth/sci_tech/2000/dot_life/newsid_1194000/1194431.stm which describes someone finding the Coombe Hill cache. From there it took some persuasion on Beth that a GPS was a worthwhile investment! I initially got the yellow eTrex, however after having done Coombe Hill and Pit Near Penn we had to get a second GPS to end the 'I'm sure you're going in the wrong direction' arguments! After that we tried a couple of caches in Alberta and were well and truly hooked. Richard

  14. quote:Originally posted by Kimrobin: I think that only Jeremy can delete caches from the system, and I don't think he will. I actually agree with this, although I think they should be deleted, there are probably good reasons why they were permanently archived rather than deleted, back in November. If there is a problem with physically deleting the caches, perhaps if the pages were just blanked down that would solve the problem? Richard

Richard We're working on importing the UK forum posts now. They should be up in the next hour or so. ' Great. Richard
  16. The upgrade seems to have zapped a whole load of the most recent postings to the UK forum, looks to have rolled back to about yesterday evening. I'm also having trouble getting at this topic, it keeps vanishing from the topic list, I have to hit reload to get it to appear. Most of the other topics appear consistently. On a positive note, it's nice being able to use the normal Geocaching login, and only logging in once. Regards, Richard
