  1. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or not? Connection with with 2 way satellite internet service with DirecPC/Direcway. Seems to work great with any other sites, except a small problem with the cache pages here. On each cache page, both the large and small map graphics do not show up, but as missing images. Right clicking, and show picture does not work. Maybe 1 out of 10 tries will show the graphic. Its not a computer specific problem, because the computer has been completely formatted twice since this was originally noticed(not formatted due to this problem). And now that I think about it, it will not show pictures under user profiles either, but other site graphics show up. Yes its strange. No other software is being run. Winxp sp1, IE 6, no firewall software. And as Im typing this(its a friend's computer that is having the trouble), I thought to have him try Mozilla, or even Netscape. But if anyone has experienced this, or has a satellite connection with problems or no problems, I would like some feedback. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  2. We visit Nashville often, and it would be something I would definately consider. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  3. But I sure am curious as to which area it was in. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  4. About 4 nights ago, I was showing off my eTrex legend to a friend who hadn't seen it yet. I powered it up, and explained to him that I havent been able to get WAAS to work yet, and it was very strange to me... The GPSr acquired a signal from enough satellites in about 10 seconds, and after about 30 seconds(long enough to scroll through the pages), I was showing a 'D' under my all satellites, and accuracy jumped down to 10-12 feet. This was under a cloudy sky as well. I couldnt believe how fast it happened, and I did not try any of the above suggestions yet. In fact, I hadn't even powered on the GPS since I started this thread. 5. Its sad that the national parks system refuses environmentally consious people the right to cache and such, but they will sell out to allow a commercial company to build on the land, permanantly changing the natural face of the park and land. Geocaching cant get them out of debt, so they sell the land to save the park? I just dont get it. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  6. The Vista sells new for about $294, and the 76s for about $389. Both have builtin barometric altimeters and magnetic compass. Its hard to believe that it would be the Vista for $135 but if it is, thats the one you should get on bargain value alone. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  7. There is a reason why my cache would not be public, posted anywhere, or that i even tell a soul until my goal has been completed. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  8. Good info. Thanks for the links. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  9. quote:You can always park 10 miles away. I find that makes the hunt much longer and harder. LOL, thats my favorite reply. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  10. Ive been curious to see how much more accurate my legend could get, but I cant seem to get it to do anything different than normal. I have the interface mode set to garmin, GPS mode in normal, and WAAS enabled under the system preferences. I was getting a signal from Satellite 35, even made sure I turned/aimed right towards it, and waiting about 5 minutes in the area, and I didnt get any of the symbols on the satellite screen that I expected. Am I missing something? My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  11. Ive been thinking of clever/romantic/memorable ways to pop the question and propose to my girlfriend, and I came up with this as an option... She is not as into caching as I have become recently, and doesnt check this site. I thought I would place a cache, that is not posted on the site of course , print up a mock webpage with the coordinates and a cache name with a hint in the title. Head off just before sunset as if its any other day to a spot I have in mind overlooking a nice bay. Find the cache after doing a little unsuspecting hunting, let her open it, to find some items like a rose, a picture of us shortly after we first started dating, and the ring(which Im a little nervous about leaving, so I may just keep that on me ), and maybe a few other items. Once she probably realizes whats going on, I'd pop the question. Once she says yes I planned on making this a public cache in memory of our wonderful day. 12. btw: Easy GPS If you enter them into your GPS(assuming your model has this feature), you can use the distance function on the map screen to select one point, and drag the cursor to the second point, and it will tell you the distance. 13. I was wondering when they showed N34 how many geocachers thought, Latitude North 34!! I started yelling, its North 34, and my girlfriend just stared at me. Sigh. Btw: Los Angeles AP (S) 33° 56' N 118° 24' WLos Angeles CO (S) 34° 3' N 118° 14' W And off topic, I think tonight's 24 was definately the best episode yet. 15. Nothing like a big lovable pooch in your face to greet you. I just laughed at this picture of my girlfriends dog everytime I saw it, and thought it would make a great avatar. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.

  17. New to here, but not new to forums. Im familiar with the lexicon, but call it what you will, its still much easier than repeating the information. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  18. The more I use it, the more I like it. And now that I finally know how to export, and load gpx files into it. I thought you could load from EasyGPS, files you created on your own, but I was incorrect. I appreciate Watcher and all the work that has gone into it. Cant wait to see how it progresses. I can ask this elsewhere if needed, but... I know that Watcher is only about 6 weeks old, and still growing, but is there an FAQ out there on basic use from setting up the pocket query, and so on? 19. I thought the same thing myself, and saw this thread several days ago. Might wanna give it a read. Thread for cache placing etiquette. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  20. I can respect that answer, as I manage several servers myself. Processing time == money. We dont want a lot of angry cachers out there, because the servers are slow to respond. I'd rather have reliability, too. Maybe keep this in mind however, when the resources become available. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  21. After reading a reply I got on another thread from Clayjar about his Watcher program, I still think it would be useful for geocaching.com to have a refined search option to filter for cache types. This seems reasonable without needing 1 or 2 more third party apps. Not saying I wont be using easyGPS and Watcher, because I will, but a quick search filter from the webpage seems ideal. Making this function a member only option would not be a problem, becuase Ive intended all along to become a charter member. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
  22. Thank you very much for the information. Ive been playing with easyGPS and Watcher quite a bit in the past 24 hours, trying to learn the programs. I ran into what you said about the gpx not working quite right. I intend to become a charter member, just havent gotten around to doing so. Doing a pocket query sounds useful enough. OT Reply: I just happen to have rocky mountain high, and Tribute to Cumberland trail on my watch list. Ive been looking forward to getting to those soon! 23. Im just learning EasyGPS and Watcher tonight... I have tried both EasyGPS 1.1.9 and 1.2.2 with Watcher 1.27b and 1.26. I seem to get a similar problem as above. I simply downloaded 3 caches to easyGPS, saved the file with the 3 as blah.gpx. I open Watcher, it prompts for the file, I choose it, and the title bar says "showing 0 of 3 caches", while the main window shows "No caches to display". Ive created the file with both easygps 1.1.9 and 1.2.2, and tried each file with both watcher 1.27b and 1.26. If I can give you any more information, I would be glad to do so. Maybe Im doing something stupid since I just started using the program. Thanks. My time, your time is limited, but time itself is unlimited.
