  1. So being disabled for 4 weeks may be plenty of time depending on the history of the cache. We have two caches in my area by a new cacher that have never been found, both are drive ups. The last time the CO logged in was to disable them. There are SBA notes on both but nothing has happened
  2. Delete the log. I have also had problems with non validated members.
  3. Excuse me...HUH??? To me, it's EXACTLY what geocaching is about...the challenge of the find! He essentially told me he wouldn't edit it and I was forced to delete it. Was I too quick to do that? I responded to his email: How would you have handled it? Would you have let the spoiler slide? Would you have continued the debate, giving the person every opportunity to edit the spoiler out before deleting it? I always delete spoiler logs. If the person that post the spoiler does not get it well To bad for them
  4. Post a should be archived it looks like the CO is no longer geocaching
  5. "other human waste" Makes me wonder what area you cache in
  6. I have no intention to spend 80-100 dollars a month for a smart phone. I do planning before I load a PQ into any of my GPS before I make a run. Unless you have been caching with me you do not have any way to know how much planning I do. Am I going to read 400-500 caches before I go caching for a day, no way. The theme of this thread is what irks people
  7. How about you are looking for a cache, having a problem, then try to look up the hint and the hint says #1) Send me an e-mail for a hint! Really in the field and even if a person can get online in the field they then have to wait for a reply, and some of use do not have a way to get online when in the field!!!!! Then #2) The hint is in the cache page! Really like above not all cachers have a way to get online when in the field I would like to see reviewers refuse to publish caches with hints like these In the past I have posted very nasty logs when I post DNF's of caches like this
  8. how about caches with bad coordinates and the cache owner refuses to post new coordinates so that others have the correct ones when they run a PQ even when other caches place them in logs these CO still refuse to fix the problem. Or caches with coordinates that are so bad no one can fine the cache. The CO will even post a note that they will be corrected but it never happens.
  9. My link This was place by a new cacher. when I found it, it was buried so I sent an e-mail and I guess the CO fixed that. But the coordinates are off and the hint has nothing to do with the location.
  10. Just buy a travel bug number and then incorporate it into your what you are wearing. I have seen cachers with TB numbers as tats on their legs and arms, I have seen name tags that are travel bugs.
  11. I think the only cachers the report DNFs are the ones that read this thread I always post my DNFs and in many cases I think the issue is Cell phone coordinates.
  12. Yes!!! In the past few weeks I have found 3 caches with very bad coordinates 30 - 60 feet off and one of those was a buried sprinkler head cache. Then there are the two with coordinates that are so far off that no one has found them, the CO has disabled them about 3 weeks ago but has not fixed the problem. Now part of the problem could be the use of cell phones to place the caches but there is no way to know for sure if that is the problem.
  13. I don't believe in avoiding muggles. It is best to just ignore them or a cacher can talk to his invisible friend, that will keep people away
  14. Being that Groundspeak is a private company if you really want to know you would have to buy the company to find out. Now it could be that Groundspeak is a wing of the CIA and some of the high number cachers are agents that make dead drops of secret information while other agent make pick ups. It has been said the best spys are un assuming sorts, kind of like the people you meet at caching events

    maps

When I try to bring up the maps that relate to my PQs the caches are no longer displayed on the map screen. Doea anyone know why this is happening, It is only a problem when I use the PQ page to bring up maps
  16. I got the PQs to load. Then I enabled API, then GDAK just stopped working. Then I uninstalled GDAK and reloaded it, now it works again. I my stay away from API.
  17. I downloaded locus for a free trial that I was able to figure. For now that is what I will use GDAK will have to wait. Thsnks for the advise
  18. Maybe the caching community should send e-mails to the NNJC protesting their action. It only takes a minute.
  19. Looking at this as a business decision makes one wonder what is to be gained by having another power trail. Nothing at all. What is lost by having another power trail. It limits the area for other geocachers to place caches. This may turn away potential new players because new player want to hide there own caches. If these new players stay in the game they may upgrade to a premium membership which means more money for ground speak. Maybe ground speak should decline the placement of the new caches, while the land manager may give his approval and has final say in what caches are in his area, this does not mean that ground speak must list the new hides.
  20. Same here as well. My stress level is high enough the way its! I use geocaching to relax me, not to increase my stress level all the more. If people want to cheat, I let it be.(if you logged caches all over the world in one day and one of them is my cache, very likely I will delete the log) I check the logs if I suspect a problem, in the case of the cache that I deleted the log for today, he admitted that the log was not signed. Now this cache is rated a 5 and it is close to home so I check anyway from time to time.
  21. So much for using a tablet. Now from my real computer, I think to archive a persons caches for another power trail is BS. I am tired of seeing so many power trails. I will admit that I have found the caches on them but I do not go out of my way to locate them. Of the few that I found two of them had illegal hides. In one of those only three cache were illegal, as far as the other one I got fed after I located (I say located because I do not claim illegal caches as finds) 8 buried caches in 30 minutes. I would like to see Groundspeak put an end to any new power trails, they are not good for the hobby and they only serve as a tool for power cachers. Beside I have never seen a power trail that displayed any real creativity they have been for the most parts things like 35mm film cans (yes you can still get them)pill bottles (I hate those crappy containers) those are the legal ones I have found.
  22. Rusted altoids tin! That's what a leatherman toon is for I have never been stoped by an altoids tin.
  23. You bet. I can't stand those caches at war memorials that say on the cache page something like "Remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom". How can I enjoy a light carefree game when people are promoting agendas like this. St. Nicolas cookies: 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1/8 teaspoon baking powder 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1/2 cup blanched almond, sliced Directions: 1 Sift flour with spices in bowl. Add baking powder and salt; set aside. 2 In large bowl of electric mixer, at high speed, beat butter with sugar and egg until mixture is very light and fluffy. 3 With wooden spoon, stir in half of flour mixture, then beat in rest of flour mixture and almonds, mixing with hands, if necessary. 4 Refrigerate dough, covered, several hours. 5 Preheat oven to 350°F Lightly grease several cookie sheets. 6 Remove 1/4 of the dough at a time from the refrigerator. With hand, flatten dough or roll out to 1/8-inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. 7 Repeat with rest of dough, 1/4 at a time. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around edges. 8 Remove cookies to wire rack; cool completely. 9 Dust lightly with icing sugar. Store cookies in covered container. can splenda be used rather than sugar
  24. This is a log that will delete today-I guess in Idaho sighing a log is optional TFTC Thought would grab a few early morning caches From out of town from Idaho and did not have a tool to retrieve so did not sign log
  25. gee I just bought a galaxy 3 pad on Monday and I am totally lost even after reading this thread
