  11. Do you work at YVR? I'm close to CYPK. M.R., actually. You might want to try Dekin equipment in North Van. Can't say much about their prices, but they'll probably have what you need. Hey... my fellow canuck... I have businesses in Vancouver/ US and Asia... actually I am in San Diego right now... ha ha ha... snow storm today, EH!! stay warm and drive safe I am gonna get the stuff in US since I am here for another 2 weeks Thanks for the tip Bruce
  12. Hi... I am almost there to pull the tirgger on the GPAMAP 60Cx / 1 GB Micro SD card and the map... Which one to get?? or it doesnt really matter. City Navigator North America v8 ORCity Navigator North America NT v8. I know the only diff is the compression issue otherwise everything is the same. Correct? or which one is better for 60Cx? and where can I get one? Thanks Bruce
  13. You'll want City Navigator. The current version of Metroguide doesn't autoroute on your GPS. Boom... Thanks brainsnat/ The propers/ davidmac....Thanks so much you guys... gonna pull the trigger soon.. will got for the set!!! 60 cx/ 1gb/CN Navigator NT version!! 14. Thanks to all that help me out in the last few days... It was a toss up between GPSMAP 60Cx and eTrex Legend Cx. But i have decided to go with the 60Cx. The extra features and Auto routing is important for me. So just want to confirm that the 60Cx 1. I can input destination address directly onto the 60 Cx? street name / address etc. correct? 2. 60 Cx do auto routing and provide turn by turn instructions? I will also get a 1 GB card so I can be more flexible [Thanks to all your suggestions] The last set of questions... - What map cd should I get? Metroguide or CN Navigator NA NT version? with 1 GB storage... I can certainly download Vancouver and Great Vancouver area map and then from there I can select the cities that I need then download to the sd card?? correct?? I am in San Diego right now for another 2 weeks ... so when I get the unit and all the accessories... I can select San Diego and then download to the sd card and I can use it right away?? correct? Thanks guys. You guys have been very helpful!!!...that's all for now. I just want to make sure that when I get all the neccessary items... I am gonna have fun for myself, with the kids and the wife can use it as a car gps as well Thanks again Bruce
  15. Yes. The only real reason for getting a lower level model would be economics. The ease of use is about the same - probably better on the 60Cx - and if you are inclined to upgrade later anyway, you will not have spent the extra money on the lower level model, or used up any unlock codes on it. Thanks very much!! Bruce
  16. Hi.. . I thought the 60Cx is the one I want... but as a rookie I think I should start at a lower level model and move my way up. I saw a post re: eTrex Legend Cx... it seems like a good model for a starter. Can I input destination/ street address on the Legend Cx so the gps can be used as a car gps? I dont know... I might end up going for the 60Cx... but I would like to know if the Legend Cx is a good unit for a rookie. TIA Bruce
  17. Hi all... just joined and looking to get into this fun hobby. I think this is a fun way to get the kids out with us and have fun and good family time at the same time. I have narrowed down to get the GPSMAP 60Cx, I think the best way is to get the dvd and then a 1gb micro sd - more flexible. However... questions start from here . Your comments/ recommendations are greatly appreciated! 1. I am in Vancouver, Canada - any fellow canucks here that have used Metroguide Canada v4? 2. When I download the maps from dvd to the micro sd [ i.e. Map of Greater vancouver ] can I input street address from the handheld gps? This is more for the wife when she has to drive the kids outside of Vancouver :-) 3. Do I need to purchase a seperate dvd for parks and trails? we like camping and hiking. 4. or better to get the Mapsource City Navigator Norht America v8 and then download the cities that I needed and go from there. I do travel a bit for business - mainly US. Anyhow... TIA Bruce
  18. Thanks very much for your comments!!
  19. Hi all.. Happy New Year! Lookingto get into this fun hobby. Biggest moivations are to have fun with my 3 kids and get them out of the house and have good fun quality family time. AND.... have a nice tech toy for myself Got a few questions here... of course... Looking for recommedation on the GPS unit to get. Also, I read on some posts already that the unit can be used as a road map. I gathered that I need to buy map software seperately. I am located in Vancouver, Canada so I assume that most of the map software will have Vancouver. The GPS [ to use as a road map is more for the wife ] so I need one that is user friendly. I am looking at the Garmin GPSMAP60CSx. Your comments please!! Thanks Bruce
