I have a Oregon 450, I can send maps, tracks and waypoints to the unit from mapsource but when I try and send info from the unit back to mapsource it will send the tracks but not waypoints it says "the selected device has no waypoints on it" Any tips on how to fix this issue. I am running firmware 5.00. Thanks

Is the compass in the 500 an electronic compass or does it work off the satalites. In other words do you have to be moving for it to work? Thanks

The nuvi 500 does have a compass screen but I don't know if is an electronic compass or if it works off the satalites. I would want an electronic myself

I am no artist either but if you use windows paint it is very easy to creat icons. Just open one of the custom way points in paint. click veiw on the top menu then zoom then custom then select 800%. Then follow these same steps again but this time instead of choosing custom choose show grid. Now you can change the colors of each little grid. You will see what I meen when you get in there. It is very easy.

I started with an etrex legend which I really liked. Then I got a Meridian Platinum because of the sd card - "tons of map storage" That was about the only thing I liked better about it. The unit did not seem to be built as solid as the garmin and like some one else already posted, it ate batteries like candy. I now have a garmin 60c. The battery life is great the color screen is very nice. I really like the auto routing too. I was also surprised how much maping will fit in the 56 megs of storage. So far I am very pleased with the 60c.

How can you create new images for icons. I have already down loaded the custom icons to my computer. Can you do it in paint brush? What is a good program to use for creating them? Thanks

It is blue and it is 1 1/2 years old. It works great and is in very good condition. I never had any trouble with it. I up graded to the 60c so I have no use for the trust old legend any more.

I have a etrex legend with 12v power cable, pc cable, metroguide 4.01, vehicle dash mount and all the manuals. $150 takes all.

I have had a yellow etrex a etrex legend (which I liked very much) a magellan Meridian Platinum. I liked the sd card feature of the magellan but not much else. Now I have a Garmin 60c. It is a great unit, I love it.

Does any one know if there is any difference in reception between the remote garmin antennas and the ones you see on ebay for $19.00? Thanks

Price update Ok how about $150

I just ordered a 60c. As soon as it comes in I will be selling my legend and all accessories. It should be here in 2 weeks. It will come with the serial port cable, vehicle dash mount and a cigarette light adapter. I will also through in Mapsource Metroguide 4.02. This version does not use unlock codes. The unit is in very good condition and works great. I think $200 would be a fair price. I paid over $300 for everything.

Are you sure you have your map Datums and your coord settings in you 60c are set up to match the source of the coords you getting from the web site? I would check to see if both your GPS measuring units and datums are set exactly the same. If they are they should be very close with each other in accuracy. If not I would send it back to Garmin under warranty.

I would like the extra memory of the 76c but I use mine for hunting more than anything so I like the compact size of the 60c. Thanks

I already have a very nice compass. I had the Magellan platinum with the compass and altimeter. I was not impressed with those features. I am not looking to compare between the 60c and the 60cs. I just figured that they are very similar so I wanted input from people who own either model. Thanks for your input.

I am thinking of trading in the etrex Legend and getting a Garmin GPSMAP 60c. I know they have a few bugs but over all how do you like them? Thanks

I am lowering the price down to $320

I have a new Platinum which comes with a pc cable. I also have Map send streets, a swivel mounting bracket, cigarette lighter adapter, canvas carry case, and a 64 MB sandisk card. I have only played with the unit in the car and around the house a few times. I did upgrade to the 4.02 with no problems. I received it as a gift, but I still like my etrex legend a little bit better. The bar codes are still on both the unit and the map send packages, so you should be able to get the $50 dollar rebate that magellan is offering also. They have a coupon you print off there web site. I am asking $350 for everything and $5 shipping. Looking on the Magellan web sight everything I listed is worth over $450. My email is keckb@ors.od.nih.gov

Does using the usb port to your gps unit speed the uploading alot compared to the serial port?

Thanks Ed, I have another question though. If I save a section of the map to the card and then come back latter and up load a new map of a different area, the first upload is erased. so I tried uploading three different areas but it saved it to the card as one map showing all the areas at the same time instead of being able to switch from one to the other with the card utilities. Is this also because of the older mapsend version or am I doing something wrong? Thanks again to every one. You all have been a great help.

When I bought my Meridium Plat. it came with just the basic version of Map Send streets. Looks like it was made for the map 330 unit. Any way it does not show an option to upload to sd card programer, so is there any way to use a sd card programer with this version, or is one of the newer versions in order? Thanks Brian

IT seems to me the rotating compass reads right when I compare it to my bruntun compass, but the heading reading in the custom fields does not jive with my compass or with the platinum's compass for that matter. It does not matter if I have it in gps orient or magnetic orient, the bearing is still wrong. I tried this with my etrex the heading read out is right on the money. Have any Idea's?
