  1. FWIW, I have a 76s and I often loose the satellites under tree cover. Bob Atkinson
  2. I have only had mine for a couple of days, and have yet to take it on a cache hunt. From what I can tell so far, however, it is pretty nice. One thing that I dislike is that it only zooms to a scale of 100' as opposed to my Garmnin GPSMAP 76s which zooms right in to aound 10' (I think). The Topo software is about as acurate as MapSource. The color deinitely makes it easier to diiferentiate features on the display (especially on a map). It does seem to take just a bit longer to aquire satellites than the Garmin unit. I also wish it could connect with an external antenna. All in all, I do like it. I am looking forward to taking it into the woods! Bob Atkinson
  3. I am just curious what others here use their GPS for other than Geocaching or finding their hotel when taveling???? I am married with 2 young (9 & 3) children. I run a small manufacturing business and run a fleet of around 15 trucks. I am looking for new ways to use my 2 GPS units. Thanks! Bob Atkinson
  4. Garmin GPSMAP 76S Magellan SporTrak Color Bob Atkinson
  5. I saw them yesterday at the Syracuse, NY BestBuy store where I picked up my SporTrak Color unit. Bob Atkinson
  6. Thanks robertlipe.... perhaps I should clarify: I curently own a Garmin GPSMAP 76S and the Garmin MapSource Topo software. I am looking at switching to a Magellan color unit, but am wondering how the Magellan topo software compares with the Garmin software. Thanks.
  7. Garmin MapSource Topo US Magellan MapSend Topo US Which is better and why? I am trying to decide. Thanks! Bob Atkinson
  8. I am thinking of switching from my current Garmin GPSMAP 76S unit to a Magellan color unit. I can't find any in a local store to look at. What is your experience with either the new SporTrak Color unit or the Meridian Color unit? Can I use an external antenna with either unit? Are they bright enough? Is there enough sharpness (resolution)? Any other Pros or Cons? Thanks! Bob Atkinson (Skaneateles, NY)
