I had started not trading anything except signature items recently.....and leaving a short log. Then, there was a thread here not long ago that reminded me that there are a lot of newer people every day that are learning just like I did not all that long ago. Now, even if I don't take anything, I try to leave something nice...it don't have to cost much...but something that would be nice to most folks. I also leave our card and signature item in each cache. We also started leaving more detailed logs both in the cache, and on the cache page to help cache owners know we appreciate the efforts in putting out the caches. Yes, it takes more time and effort, but we've found that since we are in this for the fun, then we can spread the fun around as we go. If God is your co-pilot, it's time to change seats!!!

McToys......new and in the wrapper are fine for the little ones...... Seed Pod.....that could be big trouble if it's not indigenous to the area.....I'd stay away from that...but some are ok...so it depends. Tracts....I have no problem with people leaving them. They have their freedoms as do everyone. If I want it...I take it.....if I don't...I leave it. Sometimes, I even leave one of mine too. I don't consider them trade items though. If God is your co-pilot, it's time to change seats!!!

I had one set up that was a night cache......it was a series of 3 micros that if you wanted to cheat.....it could be done during the day....but then it took you to a series of reflectors that just could not be found until dark....During the day......it was hard....during the night....almost (but not quite) impossible. Only 2 finders before I had to archive it due to a land use issue.....but the folks that tried it seemed to love it. My wife and I have done somewhere around 5 at night....it sure does change things considerably once the "lights" go out...... Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

Wow, didn't even know today was the 3rd birthday of Geo-Caching. We found our 100th cache today... had planned on going out and getting several done...then getting something to eat. Had an enjoyable afternoon together and got some good exercise. Thanks to everyone that helps make caching such a fun and enjoyable activity!! Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

Was wondering what the majority of you do concerning locationless caches. Do you log them and count them as finds? Or, do you post a note so they do not count toward your find count? Thanks.... Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

After the keys.....I have a copy of one travel bug tag......my wife has the other copy. Its the one we activated to track out geocaching miles. Pretty neat. Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

What I don't care for....and I know I shouldnt get worked up over it because I mostly just sign the log and leave something anyway. But, when I see a post or a log that is similar to.....I took the cool _______, hubby took _______, son and daughter took ______ and ______ and we left a where's george dollar, two pencils and a bag of marbles. Come on.....one trade is enough per team isn't it?..... I know I put some pretty neat things in my caches, and to have it wiped out by one or two inconsiderate families would peeve me off. That hasn't happened to me.....but I've read several logs where it has happened. Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

They are no longer called Swiss Army Knifes.....they are now "multi-tools". Whats the difference?.....most multi-tools have a small blade anyway....and up here in the north, there aren't any prison road crews anyway. But, the rules are the rules... Earth First!!! Hey Ol' Hippy,,,,you rock!! I hate when people (I use that term with forced politeness) bash the military. I put in 13 years.... served during 3 wars, and now am 30 % disabled because of injuries I recieved as a firefighter. AND I WOULD DO IT ALL AGAIN!! So BRIANCM, unless you served your time to help make this country free, keep your stupid comments about the military inside your lips until you get some education and can hold an inteligent conversation. If you already have served your time, (in the military, not prison), I'll consider your comments either the result of a severe brain injury......or a poor upbringing. Earth First!!! Signature item collecting is a big thing here in Michigan. We wanted a "coin" but found the cost to be more than we wanted to do right now. We thought about a custom wooden nickle or wooden dollar...... do a search for wooden nickle and youd be amazed at what you can do. Then we stopped at a shop that does trophies and plaques.... the also do custom medals.... we are getting one made up with our own design and some engraving. They look wonderful and won't be as expensive as a coin, but will look almost as good. I love seeing signature items in the caches..but, it's also nice to collect them. Here in Michigan...we've kinda got into collecting each others items....and are following each other around trying to snag some of the harder ones to find..... Recently had the same thing happen to me....really shot the numbers up after a weekend or only doing 22, we shot up about 40 for a bit until I realized what was happening. I went back, some were fine....others had 3 or more logs for the same one. I deleted the extras....and now my count is fine. I'm glad I saw it early.....going back through each one after getting a lot of caches would really be a pain. Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

Another thing I do (got the idea from a fellow cacher) is to activate a TB.....and log it in each cache you visit...(not the locationless of course because they default to the state of origion) but that keeps a second diary plus my traveling miles.....pretty neat. Well, I'm not positive.......but will try to answer. The number next to the logs....is the number of logs in the list. Soo..if you post a note, or a could not find.....it get listed under the "number of logs" in the list. The "found" logs, are kept up when you log another find. Go to the most recent "find", click on that. I've always found that to be accurate. However, I also keep a diary listing my finds in order so if the website ever completely fails....I've still got my list. Earth First!!! We'll cache the other planets later!!

If what has been said is totally true, and all State and Federal lands are now off limits, then I think a serious consideration should be given to filing an injunction and a lawsuit. These lands are "our" lands too. There is no difference between hiking, and geo-caching; between bike riding and geo-caching, etc. ALL of us need to start writing our representatives and screaming bloody murder!! Earth First!!! We already have the perfect cache container...the ammo can.... But, as long as you want to invent something; howabout cachers that aren't a bunch of hand-wringing, rule proposing, approver bashing, ammo-can fraidy-cats, cemetairy fraidy cats who aren't scared of pocket knifes and don't complaine about everything. Looks to me as if some reserve cops need some training. Being formally involved in having to deal with some of this stuff, I can tell you that ammo cans were never even brought up as possible "bombs". Terroists prefer to use items much more familiar with people so it "blends" in....... Now, it also sounds like you may need some training in the charging of crimes.......(hold on please while I wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes........) What possible crime have you in mind?.......littering?.....not if he has permission! Double parking or not putting coins in the parking meter?........please....at night?
