Actually....we read through the forums for a week or more before we actually registered. We knew/learned that teams usually have a card and a picture/avatar for their team. We decieded to pick something that told a little about us and yet could still get a decent avatar. We used to live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...and love the northern lights and the north country in general...hence, the name. I don't look at anyones public profile before I go caching.. I like the idea of marking signature items. In fact....we are in the process of marking ours as I type this. Congrats on the first anniversary!!! My bride and I will spend our 21st anniversary at the end of this month, probably caching. I also married a great woman....wouldn't even trade her for a new fishing boat..... well.....ahh,,,,,yup....not even for a new boat....!! If God is your co-pilot, it's time to change seats!!!

At first I was sceptical of batteries being left in caches....especially here in the north country. But this last winter....I found batteries in several caches..some of which had been there for a couple of months in freezing weather... All were in good condition...the only problem is once they freeze....they don't last quite as long. But they are a great trade item as 3/4 power is better than no power if your GPS is about to die.
