  1. I agree with Creakhead and do find it uncessary and repetitive to have multiple entries if the cache is found by a group. Quite frankly I am apalled at the negative attitudes displayed in this thread, on a forum about geocaching of all things! On one hand, you mention this is not a numbers game, but some of your comments lead me to believe otherwise. Just as there are those who cache just to build up their stats, it seems like some of you get off on people finding your caches and logging, disregarding the fact that the last 5 logs were found by the same group. "Each experience might be different?" How much different could it be? You think one guy saw a Yeti while he was walking, while another parachuted in, while another battled angry pirates? Give me a break. Logs look like this: Entry 1: I found this with Joe today. Beautiful day, TNLN. Thanks! Entry 2: I found this with Jack today. TNLN. You rock!
  2. I want to know how many geocachers are in my city/area. Is there a way I can run a search to figure this out? Thank you.
  3. Item has been sold. Thanks for all inquiries.
  4. FS: Garmin eTrex Legend in good condition. I used this exclusively for geocaching. It was never used in car or for road navigation. No harsh elements. Most of my caching is done in the local hills and city parks. I have had a screen protector on it since day one. I will include the Garmin case with belt clip as well as 2 rechargable batteries. Also, I have the data cable and manuals as well. Asking $115 shipped in the US. Payment: Via non-CC (bank account only) paypal or a money order.
  5. Model: KX-TR325S Used only a few hours. Uses 3 AA batteries each. Has microphone/headphone port. FRS Two-Way Radios. Scratches on belt clip, not visible when wearing or using. Price: $30 shipped. Payment: Money order of Paypal (non credit card only). Thanks for looking. Contact me if you have any questions.
  6. I already do this but using Geobuddy instead. Thanks for the tip though. Peace! Sygyzy
  7. I stopped caching for a few months and when I return I find that the .loc waypoint downloads no longer contain a link to the cache page! Why was this removed!?! Peace! Sygyzy
  8. Hmmm, I am not sure if I was clear enough in my post. I am not a premium member. I do a search for caches in my area. It returns 100's of results spanning across dozens of pages. I would like to know if there is a fast way of selecting all of them ACROSS the pages. Peace! Sygyzy
  9. I want to download all the waypoints in my area (spans at least 10 pages). Is there a faster way of doing this? It takes forever to go page by page. Peace! Sygyzy
  10. The problem with the breadtrail is if you turn you r unit off (which I often do on huge hikes), the trail gets very confusing. Peace! Sygyzy
  11. I have a HAWG and it's great. I question it's size though because it really cannot hold much. I think I would get the Rim Runner or something in between next time. Of course this has never been an issue for me since most hike's don't require more than a few hours worth of equipment. They are not that hard to clean. Once you hang them all the water goes out. I must admit that the very last bit of water does collect in that flap above the opening. That is a pain to get out. Peace! Sygyzy
  12. quote:Originally posted by paul_stratton:The Excel worksheets/workbooks, in compressed zipped files, are located in the same "Friends" folder at: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/strattonpaul It says 4 items then when I click into the Friend's folder it says Folder is Empty. Could you email it to me? sygyzy@umail.ucsb.edu Edit: Ah I figured it out. Hosting on a members' only site. Very clever.
  13. Trekking Poles. I am curious how a compass is useful to so many people? I carry an electronic one and a analog one and the only times I use them are when I read the bearing off the GPS and use the compass to site (if we stopped moving, no compass in GPS). Then I can determine which direction the cache is in. However, you can determine the same thing with your GPS. So...what exactly are you guys using it for? Peace! Sygyzy
  14. Because nobody will pay the extra costs. Peace! Sygyzy
  15. Note that the rebate has expired. Peace! Sygyzy
  16. I thought TNLN stood for Took Nothing Left Nothing. Peace! Sygyzy
  17. Normally when you use an example to show how a word is used, it should be put in a context which hints at such. "I took nothing, left GPSr food" makes me think GPSr food could be a monkey. Peace! Sygyzy
  18. Can anyone post pictures and thoughts on size/weight comparisons between the sportrak, meridian, and etrex? I know I can look up the numbers but sometimes a mini review and pictures are easier to grasp. Peace! Sygyzy
  19. Well today I did even better. Found five! Peace! Sygyzy
  20. I am a bit confused on the terminology here. If you add East declination to magnetic to find true, this means that you are increasing the coordinate reading (long, lat). But if you are increasing it, it means you are moving from east to west. So does an east declination mean that true north lies east of magnetic north and by adding to magnetic you get true? That is the only way it makes sense to me. Peace! Sygyzy
  21. I am curious how you are doing #1? Can you give more details? Peace! Sygyzy
  22. Two quick questions: 1. What do you guys use for the user defineable areas on the bottom? What would be the most useful? 2. What does the Off Course feature measure? It gives it in feet but how is this possible? If I stand still and I am looking away from the cache, then I am off by 180*. How is this translated into a length measurement such as feet? Peace! Sygyzy
  23. You might want to double check your link. Peace! Sygyzy
