  1. I have signed the petition and clicked on the confirmation but my real name Michael Franks is not appearing on the petition page and the numbers of signed has not increased. Has any one else had this problem? It doesn't seem to instantly update. Be patient.
  2. Signed. Not that I think it will make the slightest difference. Philip
  3. I now have an image in my head of desperate icon hounds wandering around mega events with a huge aerial and a script to log "discovered at xyz nice coin"
  4. Yes I use it, but it won't give a useful rating until caches get rated half a dozen times or more. I like it and want it to succeed.
  5. Got 265 on mine and growing. Wonder if there is a limit. Use it just as a convienient way to remove caches from my queries that I don't want to seek. It could definitely be better as I have to manually add caches to it which takes ages. It gets used far less now I've moved away from my old cache rich stomping ground in the midlands. Philip
  6. Thanks to Delta68 for posting this on the UK forum section, otherwise I wouldn't have realised this had been done. The Hide & Seek page is now only 1 mile out for me, which is plenty good enough. The advanced search is still 4 miles out. Philip
  7. I'm on there too right here. Is there anyone who isn't on Facebook? Philip
  8. A while back I was given a load of preforms, after hiding most of them (but still have a few more to go) I'm being told off for hiding too many micros, so I was wondering if anyone could suggest another use for them? Philip
  9. Same place they are if you store the cache as a Waypoint. Somewhere else nowhere to store them on an Etrex.
  10. Somewhere else on the forums (can't remember where now) I read about putting Geocaches on my GPS as Garmin POI files. I've just had a play and it's so long for uploading them as waypoints for me! I export from GSAK as a Garmin POI file, see the image below: Pop this file on my memory card in the POI folder of the Garmin directory e.g. D:\Garmin\POI. Go to find, Custom POI and this is what I get: No 1000 waypoint limit, nice big POI name, lots of space for the hint, terrain, difficulty, size, container. Colour me impressed. So good it's worth loosing Geocaching mode for! Philip
  11. THIS Can't see it happening though
  12. In a village called Winkleigh , and i think a fair bit of driving to begin with ,it would be nice to have some near the beaches as im sure we will be spending some time their over the summer (fingers crossed) Oh all the way down there, it's a bit of a cache desert, great to have a new Cacher! Milling Around Beaford 1 and Milling Around Beaford 2 would be good to start off with. Subtonic Segments is a nice cache, if you can solve the puzzle. The two caches on Braunton Burrows would be good Arrakis? and Nothing to crow about. (Do keep an eye out for Adders though!) There are plenty of very nice caches indeed on Exmoor, just watch the terrain rating.
  13. Always good advice, especially in unfamiliar territory, but would that have helped? Looking at the street map from Groundspeak, it seems that the best route is from that road that jogs south off the main road. Even looking at Google Earth doesn't help, as all those hedgerows between the fields look so similar, it's hard to discern a correct course. You can rally all you want about the detriment of adding additional waypoints to your cache page, but it sure seems like it would've helped on this one. This is why we love Ordnance Survey maps over here. Try this: MultiMap Footpath clearly marked. Still can't see any reason for not adding the Trailhead co-ords though!
  14. There are 500 caches within 35.7 miles from my home co-ordinates in North Devon. Way too few!
  15. Congratulations to stevo185 for being the second UK Geocacher to reach 7000 finds at Saunton's Pink Erratic on Friday. Philip and Clare
  16. I've done three. The only one that didn't crash and require multiple attempts starting from the beginning again was the simple one on Harrogates stray. One needed at least a dozen goes. Saving was no help as all, reopening a saved cartridge just killed the player dead. If someone plonked one on my front lawn I might have a go just to get it out of my nearest cache list, I'm a glutton for punishment like that, but I wouldn't travel any distance to do one again. Philip
