  1. They do exist, here is an example (shame it's now a micro). I enjoyed that one, but others, especially with multiple physical stages have been frustrating. The key thing to remember is that you are multiplying the amount of maintainance you will need to do as there are now X number of hides to go missing. It would be very frustrating to find 9 caches then not be able to log a find because cache number 10 has gone walkies. I think for a short walk, or a micro leading to a proper sized cache it could be fun, but if it's a longer walk seperate caches would be the way I would go. Philip
  2. Sounds like a plan. Viva La Revolution!
  3. I have seen logs from Cachers where they have been out and removed others archived caches so you are not alone. An activity that should be encouraged unless of course the cache has been archived because searching for it has caused problems, or because searching for it would cause problems. I suspect what happens is someone looses interest in caching and stops watching their caches, the caches get muggled or broken, end up being archived and because no one is looking after them any more end up as Geo-litter. There is also the possibility that the cache has been moved so the cache owner couldn't find it anymore, or the area has become too overgrown at some point for the cache owner to reach the cache. 4. You should cast the cache into the nearest body of water. Should it float, burn it. Should it sink the cache is innocent. Philip
  5. I will do one at somepoint to try them out, but they are just not my cup of tea really. They don't quite work as a virtual cache replacement. Whilst I would do and enjoy a virtual cache (but not enjoy it as much as a traditional cache) they feel like a completely different game and I think that is the problem. Philip
  6. It's not a problem for me as more than 90% of the caches I have found do not warrant a favorite point. I do remove them from archived caches sometimes, but this just increases the unallocated pool. If they got scarce I would quickly reallocate them, and archived caches would be the first to lose the points.
  7. I've let it lapse before and everything came back when I became a premium member again.
  8. Just realised I've not cached for the whole of September despite: 1) A major numbers milestone approaching. 2) There being several (should be) easy caches within walking distance of home. 3) Some lovely weather. So am I cured of the addiction or will I relapse? Philip
  9. So what's this The Code program anyway?
  10. Somerset is in Southern England.. not the South West... Only according to the bizzare map of regions drawn up for Geocaching.com. What's a Supermare?
  11. I don't fancy bringing up 495 cache pages and clicking ignore on them all. I simply have no understanding how someone can maintain that number of caches. Philip
  12. Eclectic Penguin's been around long enough to know that.
  13. Pretty easy to see who is who, the imposter can't have a forum avatar without stumping up some green. Philip
  14. Make sure the date doesn't clash with Piratemania!
  15. Time for caching to retreat back into the woods from whence it came. Virtuals only in urban locations are the way forward. As others have said it's the searching that causes the suspicion and calls to the police, so whatever container you have, whatever you write on it, whatever you put on the cache page and whoever you get the permission of, won't totally prevent a recurrence of Wetherby. If the GAGB is truly listing site independent it wouldn't have a problem having that rule would it? Even with virtuals I can envision problems when a group of people doing something out of the ordinary near the easily alarmed (they might take a photograph. I've heard on these forums photographers have had a lot of problems already in cities with the new terrorist legislation). Philip
  16. For general geocaching goodies I'd recommend UK Geocachers and Geotees. I've shopped with both and found both excellent. Philip
  17. Your logs are good. Much better than most bother writing. Nothing wrong with writing a longer log if you wish.
  18. I've got two goldfish and lots of Koi in the pond. Sadly they are not very good at Geocaching. Philip
  19. Well there is still the APE cache in Brazil. I think it's just about the same difficulty / cost as getting to the states from the UK
  20. I've just tried it in Opera 11 and it works for me. Which page and which search box are you trying specifically? Philip
  21. A micro cache series in McDonald's car parks?
  22. Yep, looks like it is a fiddle for for the stats. Easiest thing is not to worry about it. Go out and find some nice caches instead.
  23. Dead here too. Luckily I have a fairly recent PQ for local caches, but 1000 doesn't cover a lot of distance these days.
  24. Congratulations to ClareLouise for finding her 500th cache today!!!!!
  25. Nope, kept it to family and friends, though there was a book for peeps to leave messages in at the reception, and thanks! Philip
