  1. I will miss the Google Earth KML file as well. I am also 1 of the 200 geocacher that uses this feature, almost every day. It was fast, easy and alsome. I didn't care if it was acurate, I just needed to see the caches and the where abouts and how too get there. But now its gone. I am now checking out Geocaching Maps and it doesn't look so bad. Every program is different in a way, each has pros and cons. Over time, things changes, sometimes for the better. Other then that, happy geocaching everybody.
  2. I am also 1 of the 200, and I think there were more then 200. It was a good add on and I hope it comes back. It was fast and easy, now I have to do it the long way. I've been using it for 3 years and never had a problem with it. I WANT IT BACK, NOW.
  3. This is a re-post because the last one didn't work. Why isn't the KML file not working for Google Earth?
  4. All of a sudden, my KML file for Google Earth isn't working. And I tried looking for it within Geocaching site where I got it before. Is it gone or what?
  5. Can you use a blackberry for GPS'ing. I am looking into certian ones but not sure which one to get. I want one that has a GPS and can upload programs too like GSAK, or whatever I need to save info on every cache details, and so on. I have to buy a new phone anyways. I already have a Explorist 500 which is my main GPS and the blackberry would be my back up plus with geocaching programs.
  6. What is the differents between Palm's and PocketPDA's? I got a little confuse. One is build around hardware and one is build around software. Which is compatable with microsoft XP?
  7. I've seen somewhere within this site a page with all the satillites orbiting the Earth. It shows all of them and there names and what each one of them is for. Can someone help me locate this page for me please. Thanks in advance.
  8. I like the ideal of downloading 500 cache cooridates at once. Can you download another 500 right away or is there a limit per month, or what? And I don't own any papreless unit for cachemate, ect.. Can I download these 500 cache cooridates and transfer all the info to my GPS, without logs of course? I did lots of reading but can't seem to find what I am looking for unless I read to fast, LOL. I do not what to buy a paperless unit, just want the 500 cache download and put them on GPS. I read something about GSAK. Please help. Thanks again.
  9. Opps. Can I delete this?
  10. What is the max size for an SD card for a eXplorist 500?
  11. Just think of the size of the Travel Bug you can put in there.
  12. I bought a generic battery for my eXplorist 500 off E-Bay 2 months ago from Cellular-Link Wireless. The Li-ion battery is thinner but has all the same specs. Same part#, model#, 1300mAh, 3.7V and works fine with my unit. Use it for a back up spare. Paid something like $20 Canadian with shipping. And it was a buy it now price. This one a would trust but buy at your risk. It's also faster then waiting for Magellan back orders and shipping.
  13. Contact Magellan and get them to assist you. I had to get my eXplorist replaced and of course a different serial number. I called them to clear the old serial number to a new one. But on some software, you can only do this twice. They will go through the steps with you.
  14. When you download a .loc file, use EasyGPS to open it. You can transfer the file to your GPS. Or you can use the Magellan Geocache Manager that came with your unit to transfer the files. But if you become a member, you can download .gs files instead of .loc files which will make it much easier.
  15. Actually i did call back Magellan and told them that I did recieved my first CD and I asked if I had to return it. They said it was a replacement warranty CD and I did not have to return it. I guess I should of added this with my original post as alot of people thinks I'm a theft. No I'm not. The package could have been lost in the mail so they sent me a second one. Many here also thinks I am boosting. Well, sucks to be you. I am letting Canadians know that it can be done and and how I got mine. If people want to stir the pot, then go ahead if it turns you on. Sorry about forgetting some detail that was off topic. The moroal of this post was getting a Canada Topo CD from a Magellan USA Topo CD coupon. And it's my right to sell it on E-Bay as it's MINE. Just because somebody tried doing this and didn't succeed, don't go starting war over it. And its on record so Magellan can't sue me. LOL
  16. Yeah, I read it somewheres that it can be held underneath 1 meter or water for 30 minutes. I was wondering if they have any cases that are water proof for extra protections, like Tims coffee. I was riding with GPS in one hand and Tim's coffee in the other and steering with leg. Hit a bump and, well you know the rest.
  17. I bought a Magellan eXplorist 500 in Canada. It came with a coupon on the box for a USA Topo 3D MapSend for $9.99 US, which is useless to a Canadian, unless you are going down to USA. So I phoned them up and explained to them if they are going to offer MapSend software to Canadians, offer a Canadian map. Why would we want to use a USA map in Canada, different country. After phoning them, e-mailing them and fighting with them, they honored the offer to me. They were going to send me a Topo Canada without 3D. SO the fight went on again. It said 3D on the box, that what I want. I settled for the Topo Canada without 3D as they said it was better than a map that would be useless. LMAO The funny thing was, they mailed me the first CD and they said it will take 7 - 10 bussines days USPS. 2 weeks later and nothing. So I called them up again and they sent a replacement CD out for me. The next day the first CD came to me and 2 weeks later, the second CD came. So here I am with 2 Topo Canada and only 1 unit. So I sold one of them on e-bay for $102 with shipping. That will teach them. LMAO Thanks Magellan
  18. I have a eXplorist 500, color and holds SD card. It goes for around $200 and maps are extra. I really like this unit and as for the 400, it is a greyscale which is ok. I just rather color.
  19. I upgraded from 2.03 to 2.57 and everything went great. I like the new screens and can't wait till they make a fix for the DST for Canada/USA on the eXplorist 500. I would like to see up to date base maps as well. I did notice one thing though, before upgrade, my detail map would show when zoomed in a 2.5km, now with new upgrade, detail map zooms in at 750m. Can't see a bigger area of detail map. Just wondering if anybody elses did the same?
  20. How do I add my own travel bug to my watchlist? I have other travel bugs in my watch list but can't figure out how to add my own.
  21. OK, I found it. Here is a link that will tell all about everything you need to know about paperless caching. Hope this will help others.
  22. I know this was asked a million times but could not find all the info in one spot that I needed. After reading different posts, I decided to go with the M500 (Black text for bright daylight). I need cachemate which will cost me $8.00 and another $3/mo. or $30/yr. geocache membership for pc. Is there any other program that I will need for the PDA or PC for paperless caching? I am trying to find that site I saw here about 3 weeks ago with all the info on it. Just have to find it.
  23. I Found a travel bug that wasn't in the inventory list. I went to do a search and found the owner page. But how do you put it in the cache that I found it in into that inventory list?
