  1. I use CacheStats by LogicWeave Software. It a free download and it is located at http://www.logicweave.com/cachestats.html
  2. Ha! Your comment about babbling incoherently made me laugh! I did respond to TGB's email, with the name of my accuser, and you know what? He never responded back and I happen to know that he is friends with the individuals who fingered me. I can't say I'm surprised. My accuser's happen to currently have my avatar as theirs, but with one big difference - it has a big red circle around is and a line through it. The caption reads, "no geckos", it is kind of funny in a sad and pathetic way. But you know, I'm not going to obsess over it and I'm still going to play this game the way I have all along. In my opinion, some folks take geocaching far too seriously. Edited for grammer, <grrrr> I should really proofread better!
  3. 5.4mi for me! (I've been too lazy to go out and find the sucker!)
  4. That was exactly what happened in my case, and the kicker is that it continues to this day despite my efforts to clear my name. Despite my best efforts to explain that if I was really boosting trackables, like they accused me of, I wouldn't be logging the cache in the first place. But hey, like I said in my orig post, people are going to play this game differently; my accusers seem to play for the the numbers and the glory for their "deductive reasoning abilities", while I play for the out-of-way places is takes me.
  5. To address your issues in the order you are presented: a. You are absolutely correct, we have never met. If you read back through my posts, you will see that I never specifically mention your name at all. I clearly stated that you are part of the same group that tossed my geonik around and labeled me as the local geocoin thief without any proof. Why are you being so paranoid? b. Incorrect, I'm not accusing you and the entire state of Hawaii of anything. You know as well as I do that their are numerous islands that make up the state of Hawaii. Each island has its own unique quirks when it comes to geocaching. Again, if you read back through my posts I clearly state the clique on this island, O'ahu, is the one I have issues with. c. What? You can't click on my profile and send me a private e-mail through GC.com? I think that it is you that is looking for fame at my expense. I have absolutly nothing to hide here.
  6. Editted for clarification: I don't have an issues with the physical caches themselves, just the geocachers that consider themselves a part of "Hawaii Geohana". Looks like you have the right island but the Geohana is EVERYONE who is a Geocacher in Hawaii. Seems like a pretty broad stroke. Again, I am sorry for any misunderstanding but I still have zero idea who you are. Still waiting for that email. Don't hold your breath waiting for that e-mail. If you wish to discuss anything, you can do so in this forum. And for the record, I don't consider myself in any way part of the "Hawaii Geohana" even though I geocache within the state. So your statement that "the Geohana is EVERYONE who is a Geocacher in Hawaii" is, thus, false.
  7. How does one go about getting labelled by a group? Or did you mean a cacher from Hawaii called you a thief, and as such, all cachers from Hawaii are bad? The way it worked was one person accused me and all the others in the group said "We believe you, therefore, you must be right about this!" I certainly don't mean every geocacher on O'ahu is "bad", that would be ridiculous. I'm just saying a signficant number of members of this clique have a herd mentality where they believe the first thing they hear from another member.
  8. TGB - Dude, I hate to break the news to you, and this is my personal opinion, but caching on O'ahu sucks. You are part of the same group that labeled me as a thief behind my back and without any proof what-so-ever. This is the same group that didn't even have the guts to send me a private e-mail asking if I was boosting geocoins, instead one of the member of this clique you so proudly belong to stated in the public forums that I was a thief and didn't have the courage to respond when I sent a private "what the heck is going on" e-mail. What ever happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty? Obviously, this concept is unknown to the majority of the geocachers on O'ahu. So yeah, now that I stated my opinion I want to see those "hundreds, probably thousands of glowing reports" you mentioned. Editted for clarification: I don't have an issues with the physical caches themselves, just the geocachers that consider themselves a part of "Hawaii Geohana".
  9. I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP. Right after I arrived on Oahu my userid was tossed around as the local "coin thief" and I was actually labeled as a thief right here on the forums. Is was only when another cacher brought it to my attention that I was made aware of it the situation and reported the incident to TPTB. I confronted my accusers via a private e-mail and never received a response.... If you look at my trackables you will see even the most common and un-unique geocoin has watchers. Some of them upward of 10 folks who place my geocoins on their watchlist for no reason that I can fathom, I actually think it is kind of amusing. When I did release a trackable on Oahu it was stagged out of the very first cache I placed it into, so that it why won't release any more while I'm on this island. Plus I wasn't able to get out and geocache most of this last summer as a result of major surgery. I wasn't even logging in to GC during this time but yet, I'm still considered the local thief... So yeah, my introduction to the Geocaching community wasn't exactly a welcoming one either. But, hey, everyone plays the game their own way. Some people are in it for the numbers, while I'm not. I play the game because of the places that it takes me to.
  10. It didn't work on my Colorado unit. I still have the issue of time "freeze" on my 300, as I still have a valid RMA, it will be going back to Garmin today.
  11. Timpat - I'm in the same boat as you, I have the RMA number in hand but keep on hoping that Garmin will get their act together and figure out the real cause of this issue before I send my 300 back. (i.e. hardware or software) I don't want to be forced to live with this problem, but I would really be irked if I received a "fixed" version from Garmin and it turned out to be an even bigger lemon than this one. I'm kinda spooked by the conflicting information I've received from the Garmin techies themselves....
  12. In my case, I have a medical condition where I never know if I will feel up to going geocaching. Rather than feel guilty for holding onto a TB for extended periods of time I usually just discover them. It's a fairly rare day when I will pick up a TB and carry it home with me.
  13. I've only had a problem once with using the update tool inside MapSource, and that was a known problem that Garmin fixed in their next release. I must be just lucky!
  14. Wow, that is truly a stunning coin! I'm definately going to order a couple of them!
  15. Well, I learned the hard way the value of having a backup of the files on my hard drive! Thankfully, my story had a happy ending and I was able to obtain the basemaps from a very helpful Garmin Cust Srv person. I also have a Colorado 300, so I could upload them tonight if you just give me a location.
  16. I purchased my Colorado from GPSNow and it arrived within the week. GPSNow even had a lady call me to ask if I had ordered from them... Now that is what I call service!
  17. Well, in defense of the folks who do dip TB/Geocoins in a a virtual cache, if you have a personal mileage coin then you can dip it in the cache to track where you have been. I do it all the time just because I've taken the time to visit that location and it serves as a way of remembering when I visited that spot. Some of the coolest caches have been the virtuals, IMHO. I would rather visit a vitual cache that is in a spot that has some sort of historical signicance than, say, another urban micro cache that was placed for no obvious reason. Personnally, I think Earthcaches should allow a bug/coin to be dipped in it as well, but TPTB don't allow it. Just my $0.02!
  18. Lightning Jeff - Just ignore him! You probably have already figured this out but LifeOnEdge trys to pick a fight with anyone who disagrees with the "perfect little vision" of the world. For the record, I use an Invisi Shield and have never had any problems what-so-ever with it. Matter of fact, it has saved my screen on my old Garmin 60C several times. With it on my Colorado I didn't notice any difference is the light quality from having it off and on.
  19. I'm pretty much in your wife's camp with this feature. I went caching this weekend and I just couldn't get my bearings with my new Colorado GPS when it was in the "North Up" mode. I finally had to resort to the old walk-this-way, walk-that-way method to determine where the cache was by the distance decreasing.
