  1. Well two things jumped out at me, they state all the coins are in hand, but several are shown as finished artwork - not finished coins. Second - I don't know of any coin company that would openly state to their customers to choose whatever coins they would like and once they have received them they can send the money. Is this intended to lull prospective customers into a false sense of security and pay upfront anyway. Usually if something sounds too good to be true it usually is. Testimonials from just three customers, no presence in the coin forums and the comments option on their website closed. This company may just be naive and a bit green about the gills, but ............................

Tooey - There are trusting souls out in the world. For example, I know of a vendor in Arizona that sells Koa wood fountain pens. They usually run about $35-40 each. One day I wash mine with a load of clothes. I tracked the guy down and he, on good faith, send me a replacement pen and just asked me to send him a check after the pen arrived. He now has a loyal customer in me and I have purchased several of his pens.

Just because this vendor does not haunt the GC forums does not mean he is a shady character. Nor does having the comments closed on his website. Give the guy a chance instead of prejudging him...

  2. I know these were released for the special day, but are there any out there which have not been released that you can purchase as a collector item?

Geoswag carries the WDD geocoin for something like $7.50; I don't think a person can purchase the actual travel bugs. Hope this helps!

  3. Hi All

Here is the revised mint art. I did request the text to be changed and have the cApS corrected.

Very Nice! I'm looking forward to seeing them in person! :)

  4. This is just my personal 2 cents, but I would vote against it.

I do actually (more than just every once in a while) go to a cache for no other reason than to grab a coin that I haven't seen before. I always check the logs to make sure nobody has said it's not there, but I like the icon.

    IMHO

Be cautious when you are doing this! A while back I used to target geocaches that contained geocoins as well. I moved several but, more often than not, the geocoins would not be where they were suppose to be and I missed them. A fellow geocaching team, who shall remain nameless, who noticed my pattern of activity accused me (in these forums, no less) of being a geocoin thief. Which, of course, I wasn't. I privately tried to politely explain my actions and the fact I was laid up in the hospital for a most of the summer to these two but they failed to respond. Now, I generally avoid geocaches that allegedly contain a geocoin.

    3. Geocaching-Geckos, not yet received, no refund given as yet.

  6. I don’t know what forum to post this in because part is about selling and part is not. Because of medical problems and bills I will be trying to sell some ‘valuable’ coins soon.

I am also going to release around four hundred or more into the wild. There is no way I can keep track of so many traveling coins so I want to adopt them out if anyone is interested. Though you may never see the coin, you will be able to claim up to ten or more yours as long as they travel.

This will be a long process due to the difficulty of adoption, but if you email me I will get the coin on its journey under your caching name as soon as possible.

P.S. Don't expect me to reply to any requests.

Sorry to see you leave the hobby due to health issues! :D

  7. Kaniakapupu-013.jpg

This photo was taken at a place called "Kaniakapupu", which is the only remaining structure associated with Kamehameha III.

The ruins of Kaniakapupu lie in Luakaha, the forested upper portion of Nu‘uanu just north of Honolulu, Hawaii. It served as the summer retreat of Kamehameha III. Kani-a-ka-pupu ("the singing of the land shell") is considered by some to be the most important site in all Nu‘uanu and was built in the late 1830s.

What is most remarkable about this place location is that not many folks know of its existence so it is totally undeveloped.

  8. Purchased one of the Lady Luck re-mints...received same email message dated 8/25 regarding delays, was curious as to their status...guess this is the answer?

    Cheers

Yeah, I dropped $54 on a full set of the remint Ladies. Can't say that I'm thrilled by their lack of communications. I'm not saying that they need give a blow-by-blow description of what their personal issues are but the bottom line is that, as a customer, I shouldn't be left in limbo like they have left me (and numerous others, from what I gather). This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth concerning pre-sales.

  9. I have a Denali National Park Stamp Antique Silver along with a 2008 Evil Micro LE (glow-in-the dark) along with three of the standard versions of the Evil Micro geocoin up for grabs in anyone it interested in a trade. All are unactivated!

Specifically and in no particular order I am looking for:

Mimbres, CSI, Snowwolf, or a Hawaii 080808 Infinitity Geocoin.

Feel free to make any trade proposals even if you don't have the above geocoins as I am open to just about anything! Please respond via my profile address as I usually don't log in the forums much these days.

  10. In looking for a perfect spot to hide a new cache I've started turning to my own property. I considered a "front yard" cache and came to the conclusion that it wasn't the right idea for me. There is plenty of acreage behind the house but I don't really want just anybody turning up to hunt at any hour of the day and bushwacking through our woods. Now if they called (emailed) ahead and I was there to follow along, that would be different.

I've re-read the guidlines and didn't see specific verbage. I know of other caches that aren't always available due to park hours, events on the property, or weather conditions. Would this fall under that?

I would, of course, sate clearly on the cache page that I must be contacted and a time arranged prior to hunting the cache and that it should not be approached from neighboring private property.

So has this been done? What are your thoughts, how would this fail?

Not exactly the same scenario as what you desire to do but there is a multi-cache on Oahu that is on property owned by, I believe, the University of Hawaii. The place is sort of a garden/plant reseach center and it is only open to visitors from 9AM-2PM, Monday - Friday. Yep, it is closed on weekends & all holidays. The staff makes the visitor sign in and out, for liability purposes I'm sure. It is a little tough to get out there when it is open (I've only been out there once) but it was well worth it.

  11. Hi rugged swordfish.

Have a number of problems with mine -perhaps you canhelp?

I have noticed the internal clock on mine stops after turning off unlike the 60csx and the when turning on before finally picking up satellites reports this time. to check as far as I can I have discovered that even with a satellite fix the stopwatch mode on mine gains about 24 secs/hr or about 9mins/day.

I am no expert but am totally taken aback by this.

Do these problems lead to others such as time to first fix and also perhaps explain other problems that are reported with this unit?

My first Colorado had the exact same issues with the time feature not working like it should. After a few firmware upgrades I decided enough was enough and RMA'd it back to Garmin. A brand new unit was back in my hand less than two weeks later and it works flawlessly. I believe, like others on this forum, that the earlier units, like mine, suffered from a hardware error and not from a firmware flaw.
