  1. Great job, dont forget the lil people.
  2. From all my test/playing, the gps is waayy closer than my vehicals speedometer. Some cars will read higher, some lower.
  3. I was a newbie and started with the 500le also.Love it ,once I ordered the rechargable ion battery and car charger.Mapsend always worked great with caching, hints and cache description all loads easily at once.I suggest getting direct route off ebay and cache along.
  4. When you set the unit to follow a track it will show the track and your position. Thanks ,I believe this will do allright for me.
  5. Ok, got em on track logs, will it show my position while traveling on these tracks or do I need to convert to routes? Thanks alot, looking like Im getting somewhere.
  6. I can open the single routes on gps tracker ,but cannot open the custom maps at all.So I merged all the routes in one ,but gps tracker cannot get the product ID from my gps, acts like its not even connecting.
  7. Yes ,routes, track logs and or maps. http://www.tommyrhea.com/gps.htm heres the link Im trying to get any or all onto my magellan 500.I really need these, any Help?
  8. Any way to do this? I have a friend who has created some transparent maps using his garmin and Im trying to get them to open on Mapsend vs. mapsource. Is this possible?
  9. With the mapsend light ,which should have came with your installation cd,you do not need gsak.I use the mapsend topo to open the pocket querries that are sent via email.Open up the caches on a real map so I can view them, also has logs, hints and other cache info.Pretty much paperless.I have always liked the ease of this program.
  10. I have GSAK also,I use it for conversion purposes only,on mapsend ,I can see exactely what will be loaded to gps. Jpatterson-what exactely fixed your problem?Just for future reference. If I plan on really spending a few hours caching,I either take palm,or laptop with me for the previous logs, very rarely though. The 500 has usually has enough info to get 90% of the hides.
  11. All you newbies to magellan, heres a lil help for loading those maps. http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/jpr...gellanMap_1.flv http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/jpr...gellanMap_2.flv
  12. Not sure what your doing wrong exactely. But,I always open the file on mapsend topo or lite, select a cache and it should have hints up to 30 or so characters and previous logs.If so,save the file to gps.I belive I always check the e-book format also when creating the querry.
  13. On the battery from magellan,I ordered mine back in febuary and had it in hand in a week, thats for the 500.Someone said they were on backorder before I ordered.Maybe I just got lucky.
  14. Thanks,I recieved them from someone here and figured Id try to help others, just shot the vids over there, really didnt know how the zips work.

  16. http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/jpr...gellanMap_1.flv Try this link.
  17. Someone here has a link to a video that really makes this easy.Maybe Embra?
  18. Glad that worked for you,my 500 is sometimes a lil sleepy on accuracy also,if I set a point after driving 10-50 mile home after work,in my yard.I can turn on the unit a day or so later and walk right out of house and hunt the spot I marked ,itll miss by average of 20 feet,Now I can walk around or ride wheeler around for 10 minutes or so and waas will lock on and take me strait to it.
  19. Mine worked out great today, but I believe the adults enjoyed it as much as the children.
  20. I believe that once you get used to it,especially if you run pocket querries, you will appreciate the way it works.
  21. Connect to computer and delete, similar to how you added them.Im sure sure on how-to from unit without connecting.
  22. You may have to let it sit out in open and see if the acc. gets better.Really,it should be better, have you driven with it for a few miles and checked it elsewhere.Anything over 17ft usually is in tree cover. If doesnt improve or more folks here cannot help, maybe a swap at Walmart is in order. If Someone else could check theres next to yours if would give an idea if yours really has a promblem.
  23. I have the 500 Magellan and you should be getting better accuracy than that, especially if out in open, away from blds,or trees. But Ive found that mine seems to get better the longer it on.Waas doesnt always come quickly on mine, usually a 15-20 trip in the truck will get my locks on better and I have seen 5-7 ft bouncing accuracy, but usually 10-13 ft is what I like to see while caching. Now in thick woods it is tougher, when 16-20 ft acc. is bouncing it can put the cache a ways off.
