  1. Here is an excellent review on Sanyo Eneloop's. http://www.stefanv.com/electronics/sanyo_eneloop.html
  2. If Nimh batteries are stored at a lower temperature if they self discharge slower and keep their charge longer, but they will not work as well when they are cold. They would have to be brought to warmer temperature. Some people store there charged batteries in the freezer to get them to last longer, and then warm them up to use them.
  3. The tech at Lowrance said that Lowrance will make an update for the Expedition, if inserting the SD card while the power is on works. He said that if that is the case it is just a simple software update that will fix it. But somebody would have to call or email them and let them know what works. As for formatting your card. I used the program provided in the link below. Once I formatted my card in the Expedition it knocked it down to 1GB also. Reformatting it in windows didn't make it 2GB again. I used Panasonic SDFormatter V2.0 and it recognized it as the 2GB it is and formatted it back to 2GB. When I put it back in the Expedition I did not format it again. The Expedition says the capacity is 2GB, but only 1GB is available. Here is the link. Panasonic SD Formatter V2.0 Thanks for the tip for reformating my SD card! I then tried to put the now back to 2Gb card my GPS with it on and it still shows that there is a 2Gb card in the unit but only allows use of 1Gb. Obviously the tech a Lowrance isnt the answer. Mine is the same way. It sees the entire 2GB, but only uses one. I would like to be able to use the entire 2GB, but for now 1GB works. I have over half of Louisiana on it and it only takes up about 17MB. So I am good for a while.

  5. The tech at Lowrance just told me to try another brand of SD card. He said all they use at the factory is Sandisk. That is what I am using. He said the Expedition will work with 2GB cards, but only with certain brands. I don't want to keep buying SD to try them out. The tech said to try this, I haven't tried it yet. Use your 12v lighter adapter in you car to power up the Expedition with the batteries and SD card removed, and then after it is finished powering up insert the SD card with the power on. He said it might recognize the 2GB card then. If it does recognize the full 2GB, then they can make an update so that it will work normally. I just haven't gotten around to trying it yet.
  6. azbigben, Check out this thread. It talks about how to get around the 5 card limit in Mapcreate among other things. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...115044&st=0
  7. Actually, you do not need the LEI card reader at all. At least for the iFinder Expedition C you don't. Just insert a memory card in the GPS and select Menu -> Menu -> Browse MMC Files -> MMC Card Info (button at bottom of screen) -> Create ID File. The card needs to be registered with Mapcreate, but you will never need the LEI reader.
  8. Thanks Indotguy, I'll give them a call and see what's up. I was pretty sure it supported 2GB. Maybe I just need to change a setting or update my firmware or something, altough I thought I had the latest firmware already. Thanks, Scott
  9. I put in the blank card and went to browse the MMC files. It said total capacity was 2GB but the available capacity was 1GB. It sees that the card is 2GB, but it will only allow 1gb to be used. If I format it, it only formats 1GB. I am thinking that it only supports up to 1GB. Which is why this is happening. I wanted to know if anybody else was successfully using a 2GB card with their Lowrance.
  10. I use 2400mah rechargeables in my Lowrance Expedition C and they last a long time with the backlight on. Like already mentioned, bring an extra set with you and you just in case and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It saves alot of money. Instead of having to keep buying batteries and keep throwing them away. This is what I use. It is an excellent charger. http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/la-cros...c781da584fc4cc4
  11. I am using a Sandisk 2GB SD card in my Expedition C. It says that it knows that it is a 2GB card, but it says that only 1GB is available. I have read 2 different things about Lowrance iFinders reading 2GB cards. I've read that they will use 2GB cards, and also that they will only use 1Gb cards. Which one is correct? I am using the latest firmware. Is it just that right now the biggest they can use is 1GB cards? Thanks.
  12. Thanks to all who replied. I called Lowrance and askedabout it, and the Tech said that hers is the same way too. I am glad to hear that it is waterproof inside I just didn't want to take any chances. It didn't look like the rubber flap kept water out, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks again everybody. I feel better now.
  13. I just purchased a Lowrance iFinder Expedition and the rubber seal on the back doesn't look right. It doesn't seem to seal too well. The external antenna connector looks isn't protected very well. The rubber flap doesn't want to stay closed. Is it still waterproof? Is this normal? Does anybody else have an iFinder? Does it look the same as mine? Has anyone had any problems with the seal on the back? Thanks http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/u...t=100_1062r.jpg http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj300/u...t=100_1058r.jpg
