  1. I completely agree with Packanack - this is a great venue with lot's to do for everyone!
  2. I really enjoyed this event - it was my first. It was good to see some familiar faces but meet some new ones too. Thanks Avroair for organizing this fun time!
  3. Thanks Packanack for organizing this. Teenagers always seem to put a wrench in things as it did for me today. But I'm glad I was able to meet everyone for a short while - I hope to see you on the trails.
  4. Here's a link to a map of Apshawa if anyone is interested in printing it out beforehand
  5. I was thinking it was either a female or a juvenile - it looked like it was probably about 175-200 lbs. It was just wandering aimlessly until it saw the dog and me and then it just took off up the mountain - I'm so glad I finally had my camera to get a pic.
  6. I'm definitely in and looking forward to it! See you early Sunday! Does anyone object to a medium sized well behaved dog joining the pack? She's aloof and would just ignore everyone and simply likes to hike!
  7. They attacked my birdfeeders again on Christmas. It seems the last two years have been worse than others with them. Maybe we'll see some this weekend at Apshawa.
  8. That spot looks familiar... would it happen to be just east of Bear Swamp Lake? It was the fire road that runs adjacent to the Cannonball Trail by the top of Skyline.
  9. December 30, 2007 in Ringwood State Park - shouldn't they be asleep by now?
  10. Good Going Brian - Happy New Year!
  11. If it's not brutally cold I may actually try to meet up with you for this hike. I hiked Apshawa in early October and it was a great hike.
  12. 2007 Age of Discovery 2007 Worldcaching Volcano
  13. Okay - so disregard my last post - there's no way I'm getting up early tomorrow. Enjoy the hike - it sounds like it would've been a good one.
  14. Okay - I'm going to try to make it this time (although I did a 25 mile bike ride today and my legs are trashed). Is it acceptable to bring the dog? She's friendly and just likes to walk in the woods. Hopefully someone will do a quick check of the post in the a.m. as I will too.
  15. Not so sure that I'll make it now. Some family commitments have come up. Maybe next time.
  16. We had one in the backyard this a.m. trying desperately to reach the bird feeders that we've suspended from a high clothes line. After about 15 mins it finally gave up and went after the garbage cans.
  17. Cool - I'll make sure I bring my snow shoes
  18. I don't think the Skylands Road gate opens until 8am
  19. Sorry I couldn't help myself - just had to check it out
  20. Ooh I think I'm finally in - it's a close drive for me so I could actually make it by 7am.
  21. I'll second this suggestion. I have these in the non-gore-tex version, but after a recent trip to Washington's Westside, I wish I did. These are great for Idaho, but I'm sure this spring I'll be wishing I had the gore-tex version. These are so comfortable, I'll be getting another pair. Can't go wrong with Merrell! I agree - I'm on my 4th pair of them this year. You don't need to break them in either - just put em on and go!
  22. Just hit 100 Labor Day Weekend - would like to hit 150 by year end.
  23. Great pics everyone. I always love to see everyone else's pics. I try to take a shot when I see a good one. Here's a few recent favs: My boy right after my 100th find today - River Rocks Long Path Trailhead GWB Water Lilly Miko the Geodog
