I've heard a few people talking about new firmware update for the 500LE although I've yet to find it on their "most" informative website.Can anyone tell me if this rumor is true and if so what does this alleged new update include??Will it benefit a Canadian GPS user?Thanks in advance for the help!!

I'm looking for primarily Canadian maps ie: detailed hiking and back country and river and lake maps. I hear ya about the Garmin but that is not an option.

Hi,Can anyone tell me if there are any third party download options (Free!) for Magellan Explorist 500 maps?I am VERY aware of the proprietary restrictions of such software but just wondering if there are any sites/individuals that can provide a less expensive alternative.Appreciate any assistance and thanks in advance!

Oh?..I was under the impression that you were able to view maps other than 3D ones in 3D with this download ,I am curious though as to why you would need this program to view a map in 3D that is Mapsend topo usa 3D?Isn't this Topo USA map viewable in 3D without downloading Mapsend Lite?.....Now I'm Really confused

Hello all,I've just downloaded the Mapsend Lite from the Magellan website so I can view my Canadian topo maps in 3D,But my question is how do I go about viewing them in 3D??Can't seem to find the way,Do I need to save regions first or can I just run my Canadian topo CD and have it display in 3D.I'm a bit technically challenged if you will ,So if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. I had the same problem with my topo maps and what i had found is that I had forgotten to format the SD card in the 500.The card contained all of my maps and the 500 read the info but boy was it slow.So I saved all my maps to my pc and formatted the card in the 500 and all is well! Good luck!

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone out there might have an extra Hotsync cable for my Palm M125.I want to transfer some basic maps onto my PDA but my cable is toast.I'm willing to shell out 5 bucks for it if available. Cheers!

I haven't accurately counted the seconds tick by but I can tell you that when I used the "AAA's" I was very disappointed in the amount of time it took for the dreaded "LOW BATTERY" icon to start flashing, Maybe an hour or two with back light on low ( or off as Magellan puts it! )and as far as the LI-ION battery goes I average about 15 hours + or - a few hours. I cleared all memory and now the "Darn" (much better word than Dadgum!) thing works again??..Never explain some things with electronics! I haven't the foggiest what transpired with the unit but all seems well ..for now!thanks for the help!! B

Have any other 500 LE owners experienced problems with the joystick refusing to move the cursor in any given direction?This just happened today while entering some POI's.Can't get the cursor to move left at all! and AND I JUST DREAD the thought of having to make the call to our favorite customer service center in India.I was just curious to know if anyone else has seen this problem. Hi, Can anyone tell me if there is any way of downloading (all) the caches on a certain page using google maps geocaching?I can't seem to find any "select all" or "download all" button on the page and downloading one at a time is fine if I had a spare 8 hours.....and I don't! I have done as you suggested ,checking the append box but is this something I will have to do with every cache? As soon as I try to save another cache it reverts back to the "new file " setting.The d*** program seems to only let me save three or sometimes four caches before reverting to only saving one at a time.Would you recommend that reinstall the software?

Greetings cache heads! I am having an issue with the Famous (or infamous) Magellan geocache manager,I'm using the google maps geochaching site to download caches in a specific area, but when I click on the cache and the Geocache manager opens it only shows the most recent cache that I downloaded rather than all the caches I had downloaded.If memory serves I'm not the first to encounter this problem.Does anyone in Cacheland have any solutions? I'm not a premium member so the pocket query is not an option I'm afraid.Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! B

Depending on what site you go to to review the 500 one will say waterproof ( to me, meaning it will float in any body of water) or water resistant (If you spit on it while speaking, it will live to cache another day). Not that I would blindly trust any factory o-ring or seal but it would be nice to know the straight goods. Thank you in advance for your help!

Check some of the LOWEPRO cases out,I use the "REZO 40" for my eXplorist 500 LE and it fits like it was made for it.Also has a pocket on the front to to store extra batteries and SD cards.Best of all it was only 15$.Cheers! B
