  1. I go caching with an old pair of high top Eccos that I paid big bucks at Nordstroms. But, I had them for a few years now. I have about 3 pairs of these they are the most comfortable boot/shoe I have every owned. I used to have a job where I was stood on my feet all day jump on/off a work truck. These boots are really great.. I keep a trash bag in the back of my jeep and change out from my street shoes. It has worked great so far. http://store.nordstrom.com/product/product_brandboutique.asp?styleid=2765018&boutique=boot_shop_men&category=2376778~2372807~2372829~2375603&Search=True

  4. Hey gang, I'm working on planning a big trip driving trip coming up August (can't wait) and I would like to know what are the just you HAVE TO CHECK out THIS caches. I will taking I90 to Montana to about mid states and dropping down through Idaho to Oregon. I'm planning roughly a few days between Idaho and Oregon. Thanks all for you suggestions!!
  5. Hey gang, I just wanted to let everyone know that I enjoy and relish this game that we call "geocaching". I'm just about to my 30th cache on, and I ending a old decade and beginning a new decade in life. Everyone in the forums is most helpful and friendly. The folks that I met out in the field the same. The experiences that we gained you can't put a price on! Thanks again, I can't wait to get my first querie tonight. Go get outside already! hehe
  6. Labtek that would be sweet thanks for the quick response! Let us know how it goes. Good luck
  7. I have MS Mappoint and use excell currently like spyder40 to import pushpins. It would be cool to have this program to work with my Garmin Legend, but then again maybe I will need to add a Meridan to my gadgets . Now only if my g/f will agree. I would think about kicking a few bucks for Garmin support. Thanks
  8. I bought a Legend around Sept and I love its compactablity and design. I may get a Meridan Platinum or Rino series GPS. I heard that Meridan's do better in tree cover. But, I have yet to go caching in a big group. I have run into a cachers VDS, he had the basic yellow one, and he had many many finds so its not all about spending lots of money to find caches. Also, if you purchase a Garmin $50 rebate which I recieved really quick considering I still didn't get my rebate checks from my Christmas hardware. Hope its helps!
  9. Found cache full of pocket knives left handful of MC'D toys. I sadly I agree with Jeremy and his stance.Again I feel that kids who geocache with parents are more responsible and informed then the average kids. The kids who geocache are informed like when I was in the boy scouts and club scouts. But, I get guess we allow our government come up with law and fines to protect stupid/informed people. Otherwise, they would just allow their kids to watch tv til their brain rotted out. I'm outtie 5000 I found some caches with knives.. time for trades.. (hehe) I'm glad I spent all my productive worktime browsing the forums today or I would haven't know! Maybe you send an email to all geocachers cuz this is news to me.
  10. Hey all, I have about 23 caches logged to my name and I'm looking to upgrade my digital camera to record my finds. I'm looking for a mid priced compact digital camera. Right now I'm using a freebie digital camera that I got from Earthlink. I need one that will survive our caching sport and not cost me and arm and leg. Thanks much, Cache on!
  11. Welcome... From another cacher named Mike
  12. Just curious Jerome & Sherry what digital camera did you use to take the pics looks good!
  13. The cooliest thing I found in a cache was a ms wheel mouse on our first cache. We try and put stuff in caches that we find at dollar stores. Small tools, keychains, batteries, gloves, stuff like that.
  14. I would like to create maps of caches that I located and caches that I have yet to locate using streets and trips 2002. http://domination.mi-geocaching.org/map.htm Can someone let me know with easy to follow steps. This may help others. FamilyUnit
  15. I would be interested to know where the caches are near the gunnery in Boise Renegade. Thanks much
  16. Ok maybe not an AK47. I wanted the son to take a picture of the front but for some reason son was a little scared. He thought they would have thought was were spies or soemthing. We walked up and down the path like 7 times slowly surveying the area. I was trying to convince the g/f to drive down there last night so I can try and find it by myself. I also ran into a cache that was near a State Patrol office. Just my 2cents. FamilyUnit
  17. Hey All, Yesterday my son and I were cache hunting near Everett, WA. It was a multi-cache one of the corrds was near a Naval Base. It was on a path next an entrance to the Naval Base, there stood a few guards one was in a Hummer with a AK47 or other assault rifle. Does anyone think that this is wise to hide caches near such a place in our heighened state of alert at this time?? Or should I have toughened up and got my son and I some bullet-proof vests and poked around the bushes.. (hehe) My son was kinda bummed that we had stop our cache and I was too. But all is well. Made nice dinner chat! See ya on the trailhead! 18. My son is the type who is great at all video games. I myself on weekend would find myself indoors even during the summer playing around on the computer. Before having my son go on a walk let alone go outside and play was a chore. Now, with geocaching he actually runs sometimes on the trails just to find it first before me! When I get home early or sometimes when he is in school he emails me when are we going Geocaching! Since he is 12 yrs old I try and have him organize the maps printing them out prepare our backpacks. Lately, I had him hold the GPS although that can make hunts fun too [] Unfortunetly, kids these days want to stay indoors and play all their video games, but with geocaching it brings your outdoors and that is so awesome. See ya on the Trail!
