  1. I picked up an explorist 100 in REI today for $40x. They're closing them out. I saw that there are expansion cables available on http://pc-mobile.net/gugsfaq.htm Has anybody used them with any success? According to the site there is a firmware available and it can be used in nmea mode. I am mostly interested in downloading topos & geocaching pts. Who knows anything?? Let your voice be heard!
  2. was in rei today bought an explorist 100 for $40.
  3. I'm not into shrooms -- used to be Is it true if you place a nickel on the mushroom in question and it turns blue its poisonous if the shroom is unchanged you're ok?
  4. Go to typical view and click the download all then uncheck the 1s you don't want or import them into gsak & delete them before converting them.
  5. no bite, but had a BIG banana spider freak out my wife while caching in Alabama.
  6. 2 inch packing tape works great & you can hook up all of your friends. Hey big spender
  7. I've got a mio--which is awesome. $200 retail. I might be interested in a trade. Or would you take $125??
  8. I've got the 500 LE, it works great just not with vista. Try the GSAK program.
  9. bang for the buck the mio is awesome. under $200 flawless sirf technology & newest maps are 2007....
  10. My wife doesn't mind me dragging the kids out of the house for a while, but what she hates are the hours I spend downloading waypoints and scheming new cool cache placements. Not to mention checking out the forums (and posting just like now) We're hooked too. Does that mean we are geeks?
  11. It's my 1st unit, but its rock solid. Costco.com has the LE bundle with 3d topo for around $159. I've just had some trouble with support (call center in India) and now with Microsoft Vista communicating with the unit. The unit itself is accurate and easy to read. Rechargable batteries are a MUST.
  12. I gotta go poo. A guaranteed winner. Grab the back of your pants while saying it. If they don't leave you be follow it up with uh oh... if they still don't let you be start to sniff. If they still don't leave reach for the pants button. If they still don't leave you're on your own
  13. yup you gotta do the install cd. your os needs to recognize it as an explorist. you need to use the software included since it converts the info to its very own type. Call for support IF YOU DARE
  14. Yes their customer service is some of the worst on the planet. What you need to do is check device manager and make sure that your explorist is seen as an explorist by your operating system. I have been having trouble with Vista (Victim Is Still Totally Aggravated) since the drivers couldn't be installed but with 2000 & XP no proiblem. Make sure you've done the firmware update, then you should be ready to run.
  15. Vista also won't allow MapSend to work for Explorists. Driver error...who would've thought V.i.s.t.a. Victim Is Still Truly Aggravated
  16. You need to use their software or put the waypoints in manually.
