  1. I've spent the last few hours trying to get it down to a reasonable size. I've got a 178MB MPEG2 movie, but I can't seem to find any free software to do the conversion to anything else. Windows Movie Maker keeps crashing. Anybody else want a crack at it? Email me and I can give you the URL of the big file.
  2. I TiVo'd it too (as I do for BAB every week) and I'm in the process of extracting and uploading it for everyone to see. But I may not post it until AFTER the event as incentive for everyone to go. :-)
  3. I'd settle for 5-way support from just the listing screen so I can change the category, sort or select indivual entries.
  4. I'm not sure how I feel about ignore lists. In some ways it feels like cheating. Why should I ignore a cache just because it seems 'hard'? Isn't that part of the challenge? They can't all be lamp post micros, you know. :-)
  5. Hey, I like the new look. But is there any reason why every page on the new site has to have Javascript that removes any frames from around it? It breaks some very legitmate uses of frames such as my Express Logging Tool . Maybe there could be a parameter that could be passed that would turn this off?
  6. Check out http://c3po.Groundspeak.com/ , which appears to be the geocaching beta site. New look, but the most interesting thing I've found so far is bookmark lists which are sharable.
  7. Kablooey = 3K today http://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default....63-b62919d412b7 Not that anybody's counting. :-) Congrats.
  8. I was looking at the EBRPD website and came across the meeting minutes. One of their latest meetings discusses geocaching. http://www.ebparks.org/district/PAC/11_22_04m.htm
  9. Alright, I'll bite, Nostrada. Pretty web site. Too bad fancy DHTML interfaces are not a defensible strategic advantage. Mapquest is by far the #1 map site anyway. I'm guessing Google may have some patent problems with this too...
  10. I'd like to second this. I just upgraded to a Treo 650 and it seems like every app has 5-way navigation support except for CacheMate. I can use a hard button to switch between screens, but most apps support using the nav buttons to move through elements in the screen so you don't need to use a stylus.
  11. I suggest just doing them all. It's not that big an island. :-) Seriously consider renting a jeep so you can venture into the center of the island for some cool caches on muddy roads. Be prepared for lots of quick rain showers.
  12. Geez, it would be hard to keep a secret on these boards. I didn't even get a chance to log it first! Thanks to MotorBug, Nostrada and Workerofwood for accompanying me and thanks to WeBeDnD for the cool cache. Thanks to the rest of you for all the caches and fun. And I'd like to thank my agent, my mom and dad and the academy.... :-)
  13. You can read it here and alert yourself to the terrorist front known as 'geocaching' http://www.paloaltodailynews.com/dailynews...PA_20041220.htm Geesh! It looks like these were the 3 caches that were removed http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7a-75cd7b50d5cd http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...2a-222a53a32733 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...90-6cd3f77e2c45 All of which I've already done. Looks like NavySparks' log had the photos referenced in the article, but of course it doesn't mean that the caches were in those areas.
  14. New smilies menu in the Geocaching Express Logger Hey folks, I know a number of you like my little logger tool, so I thought I'd let you know about a feature I added last night. Each log entry box has a button that pops up a menu of smilies, so you can just click them to add them to your log rather than remember all those bracket things. It's just a fun little addition. Geocaching Express Logger If any of you have some design skills and want to take a crack at making this thing even a little prettier, I could obviously use some help there. Enjoy.
  15. I wrote this tool because logging was such a chore. I guess I'm pretty lazy because it still takes me days to catch up with logging my finds.
  16. Hello San Diego! I believe I've received email from TrailGators and Dr Boggis about my logger tool and I seem to have tracked them back to here. I responded to them both and updated the help with solutions to their issues. If there's other things I can do to this tool to make it more useful, please let me know.

I see Venona is up to his tricks again, and this time he's involving me. Well, unfortunately I seemed to have misplaced the coordinates for this cache, so maybe someone could help out with that. If possible, I'll try to make a run on it tomorrow, although traffic out here is pure hell in the afternoons. My next chance won't be until the weekend, and unfortunately, Saturday is right out. At 2:00, I'll be on my lawn chair with a cold beer, doing my duty for country. 18. There's a user account set up for INCONNU. http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=9e...8c-27bacf53fe68 I just emailed the account with this message: -- Hi there, Apparently you have a file name password for us? It's supposedly in this cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCGZ17 Thanks for your help in capturing the evil Venona. See this if you don't know what I'm talking about http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...opic=83776&st=0 --
  19. Holy crap, I just cracked it. Password is GCGZ17. --- IS NOW NEXT STEP FOR ACTIVITIES. MUST CONTACT PERSON INCONNU IN LANGLEY VIRGINIA. GET PASSWORD AND FILE NAME FROM THEM. THEY WILL FIND INFORMATION FOR PASSWORD IN CACHE OF 24523. -- http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCGZ17 I used fcrackzip like this: fcrackzip -c A1 -p GCAAAA STAGE2.ZIP -u http://www.goof.com/pcg/marc/fcrackzip.html
  20. Isn't that just because Venona has two N's?
  21. SnapCalc is indeed cool. Thanks for pointing it out. Do you know of any palm apps that will calculate the result of an expression though? I'd like to just highlight "1 + 2 * 3 - 4" and have it spit out the result. Yes, I'm lazy.
  22. Here's an idea I had for a cool plugin - a calculator. Right now it's annoying to have to switch back and forth between the calculator application and CacheMate when doing multis, so maybe CacheMate could provide a calculator in the app. Even cooler would be if I could just highlight an expression like 4 * 3 + 37 - 56 / 2 = And it would just calculate the result and insert it into the description right there. That would save a lot of time and mitigate my questionable math skills in the field.
  23. Next time, I have calibrated maps already done and ready for download for use in ExpertGPS .here. I went up there today and it was nice. I don't know what a limekiln is, but I don't think I saw any. :-) I would definitely take the limekiln up and priest rock down as preist rock is very steep.
  24. I have a tool that might help. My Geocaching Express Logger requires a lot fewer clicks to log caches. I just added a feature that allows you to upload CacheMate databases directly too.
  25. Excellent. I remember requesting something like this a while ago so I'm happy to see it come into existence! I've updated my Geocaching Express Logger so you can now upload CacheMate PDB databases directly. I use cm2gpx on the server to convert the file to GPX. No more exporting to memo pad, then exporting from Palm Desktop. Thanks, Brian!
