I'm from Miramichi New Brunswick. I'm heading Calgary on Thursday for a few weeks. Does anybody have any must visits geocaches? I'm taking my GPS and I'll have lots of free time on my hands. I'm also going to try and find one in Banff, any suggestions. I also read the forums reguraly. See ya Thursday...hope the snow is gone by then!

Well looks like our little storm put my traveling plans on the back burner...for now. Looks like Friday now. I was hoping all this white stuff would be gone within the week the way it was going, then the plow came by and left about 3 feet in my driveway. Not impressed! Still looking for my first cache find! What is LFL's, BFL's and DBBFL's? Just wondering?

The best Idea is to get the vet to take it out. My wife was a vet assistant and she said if you try to pull it out you will probably leave the head inside. If that happens you got a hole other set of problems on your hands. Good luck!

Spring has sprung! What a great day on the Miramichi! Took the dog for a walk and placed my first cache! (well if you don't count the first one that was denied ) Anyways I thought I'd give ya the heads up so here it is: Black Fly N47 03.918 W 065 23.759 Should be up in a couple of days...If I don't get DENIED Hope ya like it!

Thanks Fellas I was just wondering. I was looking for a cache on a cliff. My GPS showed I was right there. That's when I thought elevation might come in handy. I also live on the coast so when I walk along the beach I'm at O then I look up a bank or cliff and think I wish they gave me the elevation. I was also thinking of hiding one in a tree. So you could find in in the winter instead of digging through 5ft of snow. I was thinking of just tyeing a string to it and try to make it some what hidden to non-cachers.

Just an idea. I thought I could combine my two favourite activities Geocaching and drinking! If I took my GPS with me while drinking, there goes my excuse for not making it home!

Should we include the elevation of our cache? In some locations this could be very usfull info. And would a cache only 6" x 2" x 3" be considered a micro cache?

We have about 4 caches within the city limits, with about as many pubs. There are also about f outside the city limits within 20 of my house. Toronto would be a great place to have a pub crawl. With so many people and pubs it would be a great way to meet some fellow cachers. MRCPU asked where I'm from, well I'm from the "hill" aka Chatham. I know where the boom road is, been there many times. I'm working on a cache for Miramichi as we speak. My very first cache was denied, so I guess I have some tweeking to do. Lots of cachers from Moncton, also a great place for GPS Pub Crawl. What ever happened to Fat Tuesdays? That was my favourite place in Moncton...well besides Angies, I haven't been there yet but I here the service is excellent! Til the next time, keep your stick on the ice!

Well you set up a meeting point, at a pub. Have a drink or two. A the starting point you'll find the coordinats for the next location... another pub in you area. Once there you have another drink or two. At each location you get the coordinats for next location. If you make it to the last location there you'll find your prize. I thought it would be a good way to get out and meet some fellow geocachers and get a buzz on. I know that ther are some cachers in my area but I have yet to meet them. This would probably work better in a city. Lots of people and the pubs would be a little closer together. Hope that explains it for you.

Has any one ever heard of or attempted a GPS Pub crawl.

Well I just got my Etrex for christmas and remembered a story I've seen on the discovery channel about geocaching. I couldn't wait till spring or even summer so on New Years Day I looked up a couple of caches in my area (Miramichi the most best place on earth!) and began the hunt. We looked for four with no luck. There was lots of snow and I suspect one was taken away by the tide. Still not detered, we attempted to hide a cache. Only to be later denied later because of some of the contents of the cache. So I'll try again and eventually get it right. I think that this caching is a blast and being able to talk it over with you guys and gals is just another bonus. I have yet to meet any other Miramichi cachers...maybe we should set up a St. Paddies Day get together. I'll get back to you with the coordinates.

I don't what's more fun, geocaching, or chating with you guys or gals. This will be a great way to spend the last few weeks of winter and get a few laughs and lots of helpful hints for my First approved cache! As for the log book I don't think that I can wait for spring I'll be going back soon. I like going the day before a storm or a heavy snow fall so people can't just follow my track right to my cache. I know that this will sound unorthodox but I put the cache in a Green and brown back pack with all the supplies in plastic bags and zip lock bags. Then of course covered in branches and stuff. Other things on my to do list Confluncing! Ever heard of it. It seem that there are only two left to get in New Brunswick and on in PEI that I sailed right by last summer. I know that it sounded like I walked randomly into the woods, dug a hole and placed a cache. What really happened is I went to a place that visit every summer and when I have enough time I'll even spend the night. I picked a place that is very familar to me and after I dug through the snow to the ground I covered it with branches. It also happened to be between two trees where there was a dip in the ground. When I was finished it looked as though the ground was even. So I can be sure there were no poison ive around and I also know that in is not an environmentally senisitive area. As for the log book yes I did forget it so I wrote a "You Found It Note" on a scrap piece of paper and used up every inch of the paper and then put it into a zip lock bag. So I left the "Papers" in the bag as well, with some macthes and a pen. "How do you write on zig zag papers?" Very easily. Same as any other piece of paper. Just really small. If you are really long winded stick them all together and go nuts! As for how well thought out my cache was the rest of it was pretty cool including an axe, ,mug,tarp, map of the area fro 150 years and lots of other goodies! If you need any other info on the cache or if you have any other questioned maybe I should just give you the coordinates and you could come up for a visit! Thanks for the advice This is fun!

Well I've just been denied the other day. And yes I did take it personally. Until now. You see, it was my very first cache and I was quite excited. Where I'm from, Miramichi, New Brubswick, we get quite a bit of snow. Geocaching seems to be pretty slow around here in the winter. I just got my Etrex for Christmas. I couldn't wait spring or summer. So I braved the elements, must have wakled about 5 km into the middle of nowhere, dug a hole in the snow about 5 feet deep and placed my cache. Every thing was great except for the Zig Zag rolling papers I left and listed as part of my cache. I was denied because of the "drug paraphanalia" and told to try again. The reason I left them was for paper to light a fire or write a note, it was all I had. So far tried to find four chaches with no luck, too much snow. And now I'm 0 for 1 hiding a cache. Anyways I love my GPS, and I love geocachig. So I'll try my luck another day. Mic or Mac Miramichi

Just got back from another adventure on the Miramichi! I also managed to place my first cache. I just filled out the form so you should be able to view it soon "Drake Cache" . I plan on adding some pictures since this happens to be my favourite spot on earth. We will also be having a get together here on May 2 & 3, so plan to be there then and bring your tent and an Alpine for me.

Well I started off the new year in pursuit of my first cache find. We looked for three caches in Miramichi, French Fort Cove area yesterday with no luck. I'm sure we were close but we had a snow and Ice storm the night before so if there was anything there it was buried. My etrex told me that I was within 10 meters each time but we still couldn't find anything. We did find the cave and I'm sure I left no rock un turned. i think the tide took it. I don't the winter is the best time for this, but it is fun. I just got my etrex for christmas and I love it! I'm currently planning cache of my own in my favourite spot on earth. I'll keep you posted. I'm also still learning how to use my new toy. Can't wait for summer! Are there any other Miramichiers out there???
