If you drop and break a jar/bottle on your kitchen floor, do you move out? http://fp1.centurytel.net/Criminal_Page/ Nope, but I don't live in the countryside with wildlife (some days it feels like I do, but then I put them all back in their cages ). Its all about respect, being sensible, looking at alternatives if available. 2. I'm in South Yorkshire but right on the edge of M1 corridor (yay!) so work commitments permitting, we might be able to attend! Hmm, thats more of a threat than a promise isn't it? 3. Kennamatic - I'd noticed that and it always annoyed me! I see loads of broken glass when I'm out walking and caching, and as I have a small son and an even smaller dog, its always a worry. I try to take a carrier bag with me to collect broken glass as its such an eco hazard in the summer too. I agree with Eckington - I'd never place a cache in a glass container and there should be some constraints on it. 4. Team Spike - I have Lucius Lizard now and just tried to email you, it was returned undeliverable. What is the state of play with these Geotravellers (which I don't believe to be lame at all - good on ya!) ??? I'd like to move him along (as soon as we have some transport again!) and log his movements. 5. What a very special experience for you. Please don't let some of the skeptics on here make you think otherwise. Thats a beautiful dog you have there too. 6. Its a good idea indeed! Thanks for sharing Criminal, we hope to borrow that. I'll email you soon. Sam ~ Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own Canoe ~ ~ We can't run away for ever ... but theres nothing wrong with getting a good head start ~
  7. I only voted yes because I responded to this poll. My answer should not be construed as an accurate indication of my behaviour towards other polls. Thank you. 8. I have to say that the waterproof clothing you have in the US seems much more "funky" than the camo colours we see in British stores We do night-time caching as its easier not to have to explain ourselves. And if we have a babysitter its cheaper than going to the movies! (although we do incur the wrath of our son - "you went to find things WITHOUT me?!?!?!") 9. Hi there Criminal. As I'm in jolly old England and the closest I have ever been to WA is in fact ... ummm ... Canada, can I please hear this idea? I promise to keep it secret, and if I have any ideas to share! Thanks. 10. I've been delighted to watch the antics of Harry the Quacker Bug who was picked up from West Yorkshire by us (left there by TheCat I believe), and dropped off in Southern Spain, since then he has been flitting around Germany. I hope his young owner is enjoying this TB's travels. I know we are! Oh, and totally agree with Pharisee - photos of TBs on their travels make it much more fun - especially when the TBs belong to kids. 11. Also not wanting to enter into a "bag war" but yeah, some bags are much better than other. I use several for the craft items I sell on Ebay and some of the bags have "safety breathe holes" (in case a small child were to put one on their head - kids do stuff like that! ), which wouldn't be much use for keeping cache things dry! I like Asda ones for thickness. Sam (don't call me a bag lady! ) ~ Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own Canoe ~ ~ We can't run away for ever ... but theres nothing wrong with getting a good head start ~
  12. I'd heard about Geocaching via BookCrossing and at the beginning of the year, bored, I was looking for more details on it. I loved the idea, bought a Magellan 315 on Ebay, had it delivered next day and was off to Spain for our first Geocache within 6 days of discovering the sport. I'd like to say I use it for other things, but I hate to lie ... 13. I go to the "Main Page" and enter the postcode details at the top. If you don't know the exact postcode of the area just use the nearest for the nearest city - eg. S1 1 for Sheffield. 14. Unfortunately I can't make it to London around those dates, but I would have loved to! I am holding a TB who needs to go to the US. I was thinking of mailing him to a friend's partner who lives in Oregon, but handing him over to a fellow Cacher would have been much more fun! I hope you have a wonderful trip to the UK, and hopefully the weather will stay bright for you! 15. I know exactly what you mean! We read that several logs had mentioned that a cache's contents were wet. So I took along a teatowel! Some people seem to just rush in, grab the items, make a quick note in the log book and dash off again! More respect needs to be given to the caches (IMHO), both the areas they are placed in, and the condition they are in. Someone has taken the trouble to plant it there for our enjoyment - we should all be careful with it! Just my 2 cents worth! 16. Similar to Team Hydro, I'm unable to take anti-histamines (mainly because of other medication I'm taking) and there is no free therapy around here. Getting onto a trial is a great way of getting some relief - lucky you being in Southampton! The only time I ever had relief from Hayfever was the year I was pregnant with my son. Bit of a drastic way to avoid hayfever though! Sam ~ Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own Canoe ~ ~ We can't run away for ever ... but theres nothing wrong with getting a good head start ~
  17. It would be useful to know the answer to this as we visit Southern Spain at least twice a year (already been twice so far this year), so I was hoping to place a cache nearby. I thought I would place the cache, use an internet cafe to log it and then if its not approved, I can always remove the cache before I go. 18. Yep, its seriously hindered my caching for the past month now. We usually cache late in an evening but lately, the pollen count is still high then. Ahhh, for the days of rain & mud - I said I'd not know what to do when it was sunny and dry! 19. A thousand miles or so?! When I first discovered Geocaching, it was 5 days before we were due to fly to Spain. So I hurriedly bought a GPS on Ebay, saved all the "local" Caches onto the Laptop and we flew out to Southern Spain very hopeful! Our first ever cache found was on Gibraltar and is still a very happy memory (and also began a pattern of caching in the rain!). 20. Unfortunately for us (but a huge relief to many Geocachers I'm sure! ), Team Rockratgirl will not be able to make this meet. Health and financial issues pending, we would be delighted to attend the next North bash. I hope all who attend have a fantastic time. 21. I use Paypal all the time for my "Ebay business" and also to pay for my Geocaching subs. What are the probs you are having with Paypal? They are the ONLY online payment system I will use now. 22. quote: I did a cache at the weekend and the quoted parking co-ordinates would've put me a mile to the north east of Great Yarmouth. You work it out Gosh - that was rather rude of them to suggest parking there - unless you pulled up in your yacht! OT - hope there are some good caches in Norfolk - I'm due my trip back "home" soon and fully intend to cache along the way! 25. I would assume that a reclassification is in the offing as a recent application of mine for a rather fun family locationless cache was "archived" whilst something is sorted. *Points at Moss Trooper* He might know more!
