  1. ...just ordered a few from cheaperthandirt.com (and a few stickers from geocaching.com). I'd been gathering stuff for a few caches (even scouted our a few good locations) and the ammo boxes seem to be the driest, easiest way to place the cache. I'll return the tupperware to the kitchen! And I thought the GPS was the last money I was going to spend on this hobby! Thanks for the tip!!!
  2. ...I always put it back exactly WHERE I find it, it was more a question of how well to hide it. For example, some caches I've come across can be seen from a dozen yards away - I'd been ensuring they were at least obscured by brush when I left so the next person would actually have to hunt. No question about not relocating it - just whether to leave them visible or not..... Thanks!
  3. I have a newbie question (that's probably been answered a dozen times already) that I didn't see listed. How difficult should you make it for the next geocacher when re-hiding a cache you've found? I'm very new to geocaching and some of the caches I've found have been VERY obvious (sometimes not even covered) - others VERY well hidden. I've always tried to leave the caches well hidden (even scattering the brush around them and ensuring they're not visible) but thought I'd ask for some more experienced opinions. It occurred to me today that some folks may INTENTIONALLY make their caches easier to help newbies (such as myself) along. Am I wrong to always leave a cache very well hidden so the next person can't easily find it? (even if it was very visible when I came across it?). Any guidance appreciated. - Hart
  4. Question for all you experienced folks out there: is it possible to get addicted to geocaching? >grin<. Seriously - this is a blast. We've logged our 10th find since first starting New Year's day and it's a great excuse for getting the kids out hiking (although I've found the hunting goes faster when I'm going alone!). My wife's been an unbelievable sport - we actually started on January 1st in the pouring rain - finding a cache just around the corner from our house. Just wanted to share my excitement! - Hart
  5. I'm very new to GPS topics, but remembered reading that any plans for war included facilities to "scramble" GPS signals locally (sort of like an anti-WAAS signal). I agree with what had been said earlier, if GPS is disabled, everything from cruise ships to UPS trucks would be affected. quote:Originally posted by yorelken:Just saw a Canadian newscaster waving his GPSr around and talking about its virtues in the field and then saying something like " the Americans say they will shut the satellites down when they go to war just like they did in the Gulf last time." Anyone hear about that?
