  1. Sounds like you're just trying to get the waypoints to your GPSr. Check out my website for a walkthrough on how to do it. http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com
  2. That would delete all the geocaches not just the ones found. Forgive me. Deleting the .fnd file just erases the "Found" categorization. If you've marked a geocache as found and you've set your map options to not display found caches, the geocache disappears from your map. After you then mount your GPS and delete the .fnd file, you'll find that when you turn your unit back on, the previously "found" geocache will be marked as not found and will therefore appear on your map. Erasing the .gs file will erase all the geocaches. This is why I've found it's better to use POIs instead of the geocaching file system.
  3. Just make several .upt or .gs files consisting of 150 waypoints each.
  4. Or just mount the gps, then search for the .fs file I think it is. Either .fs or .fg. Then just delete that.
  5. Maybe it's more of a problem with the battery than the 500. Can you try a different battery? Or try 3 AAAs?
  6. I don't have reception issues with my 500. Granted, I've only had it for a month and a half and it's my first unit. But I'm loving it.
  7. Use the Menu button to access the menu that allows you to edit/delete POIs. Navigate to the POI file then use the Menu button. Alternatively you can delete a POI that you have set up as a GOTO by using the GOTO button to access the menu that has the Delete POI choice. One way to delete geocaches is to delete them from your mounted gpsr once you've hooked it up to your computer via USB. I'm not aware of another way - I don't use the geocache file system to geocache.
  8. Here's the link to the latest thread on the unit. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...mp;hl=crossover No Magellan that I know of can upload .gpx or .loc. You need to convert them to .gs or .upt. This is standard.
  9. If you'd like we can go out together for a few caches so you can test drive my eXplorist 500. Let me know - I don't have school on Tuesdays.
  10. Nobody in there right mind would use a Mac Work on your grammar and get back to us Give them a try! You'll love them.
  11. I really enjoy my Magellan eXplorist 500. Color screen, built in maps, great for geocaching and can be used for driving directions.
  12. If you use a Mac, try GPSBabel (Quick mode) or Load My Tracks. Check out my site for reviews in the Resources area. http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com
  13. You should have multiple geocache waypoints in one file on your GPSr (either a .gs or a .upt file). If you only have one waypoint per file, all you'll see is one waypoint at a time. Annoying! Take a look at my site for help about navigating and managing the eXplorist file systems. Once you get the hang of it (which shouldn't take long) you'll like it. http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com
  14. Take a look my my site, http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com . I wrote it for Mag-using Geocachers (MUGs) - in particular, those who use eXPlorist 500s (like you!). You'll need GPSBabel.
  15. I'm glad you got the Quick mode to work. Let me know how you like working with the Geocache system instead of the POI system - I'm partial to the latter myself. To enter a waypoint manually - for me, at least - I hit the Mark button which opens up a screen displaying coordinates, icons, names, etc. I can then scroll down and manually edit the coordinates to match those found on Geocaching.com.
  16. It should definitely work with the eXplorist 210! EDIT: Don't forget to donate to GPSBabel if you can!! And when you do, I've been asked that you please specify that you are a Mac user. This tells the GPSBabel team to keep working on its Mac development.
  17. Google Pages http://pages.google.com/-/about.html I created my site using Google Pages. Worked well. http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com
  18. I've created a website for Mac-using geocachers (MUGs), particularly those using Magellan eXplorists. I have an eXplorist 500LE and I love it. The only thing I can't do with it due to my Mac is put maps on it (yet!). But importing waypoints for geocaches and everything is pretty darn simple. When I get home I load my finds and Track Logs into Google Earth. I also integrate my Treo650 into the mix for a paperless geocaching experience. http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com EDIT: Hey, I'm in LA too.
  19. Craigslist. PS: If you really try this, let us know how it goes.
  20. Yeah, I was about to say... just download BootCamp for FREE.
  21. You need to use their software or put the waypoints in manually. Or use any of the free applications out there to get info into your GPSr. Namely GPSBabel.
  22. We are a problem? My barefoot and naked ancestors who ran untamed in the wilds for thousands of years before they even thought to invent park rangers and trails may not agree. lol you guys kill me. I'm out. Thanks for bringing the issue to my attention; I'll be sure to tell my friends and my scouts' parents to support it.
