  1. We all know how field notes work for this unit, you navigate to the Magellan drive on your PC, click on geocaches and select new logs.txt to upload your field notes. Now if I create a geocache while out in the field, it lets me put in attributes, description, diff/terrain,etc and I have not found a way to upload this file which I assume is newgeocache.(can't remember suffix) in the magellan/geocaches folder when viewing on the pc. I am assuming gc.com does not have a way to upload these from the unit or from gsak? am I correct?
  2. I just uploaded from gsak to my gc like I always have done, but I included found geocaches this time when I sent the 4k caches over to the gc. the problem is, the found caches are not showing up as found on the gc. I could care less about the stats, but it would be nice to not search for a cache I have already found, unless it was one I would like to go revisit.
  3. That sounds right to me, I will let you know step by step again when I do it as I have only been doing it a few times.
  4. trying to figure out if there is a way to view roads or some minor roads at least when I zoom out further than .25. After .25 the geocaches just "float" out there and I have no idea which roads are close to them.
  5. I use gsak. I run multiple Pocket Queries in different parts of my areas to make up the majority of my caching area. Then I just have a database file on gsak that is titled "everthing" and I will update that with all of these pocket queries. Once updated I can upload the 4,000 plus caches and images at once to the GC. gsak is free for 30 days or so...after that it's still usable but gives you a nag screen that takes a few minutes to go away, but once it does you still have your full featured software...It truly is worth the $25 bucks!
  6. when you plug the unit in, it and you choose connect to pc option it shows up as a storage drive in "my computer" Now if you go to your Magellan drive and then click on geocaches you'll see a txt file called like newgeocaches.txt or geocaches.txt, you just delete that...This is the same file you upload to do your field notes as a FYI. So once you upload your field notes...navigate to your "My Computer" and the Magellan drive and delete that same file. That is what I do, and that is also what the little hints section in the field nodes say to do in the geocaching.com field notes upload area.
  7. I'm still interested. PM me or send an e-mail to me. I am curious if it will fit in a flat rate usps bubble mailer(yes they have those now) with it still in the box? If it won't, perhaps cut the UPC off and include that with everything else out of the box for me. I'll send you a PM as well with more info and ask about how you want payment. Thanks!
  8. If the GPS is available I will take it! Please see my PM's
  9. Even when I do that I still never receive any satellites. I have rolled back to 3.00 and 3.2 for a cs and I still didn't have any luck . After a new software load or a master reset I still only have one bird visible on my sat screen at the 12 o'clock position and it never gets any signal. The other BIG issue is the date is not a few months off, it's showing up as Jan 12 2014
  10. I am currently trying to revive my gpsmap 60C, it has been used about a dozen times since I got it last year about this time (december 2009). My symptoms are exactly what most people experience here, the unit can sit for hours and not acquire a single sat. It also only shows one sat at the 12 o'clock position. I have done the webupdater more than 6 times and I tell it to overwright, I have hard reset the unit several times, I have told it my location down the the exact street. The one thing that remains off is the date/time..it is shwoing a few days into the future instead of today's date and time. Not sure how to fix that. The software version is 4.20 and is not 0.00 so that is working fine. I can get to the diagnostics screen but I couldn't tell you if the signal and noise ratio and all that is correct or not. I use NiMh batteries and I select that option upon reset of the unit. My only option now is to try and roll back to a former driver and see if it works. I found a link to http://www.gawisp.com/perry/gps60/ on this site and thought I could try rolling back the driver to see if that would work. Garmin wants 110 bucks to swap it for a 60Cx, but this is a referb I got from garmin and it has always been slow to get sat and locks...plus 110 can buy way newer models with the high sensitivity receiver or a couple of nuvi's. anyways' I'm open to anything to try before I ebay the brick and use what little I get to buy something else. Thanks for reading.
  11. I'm also looking for parts, My 60C has stopped acquiring sats and is stuck "searching the sky" and only 1 sat is shown. it's date is also all wacked up. I would love to find any model 60C, 60CS, or 60CSX with a busted screen or case and swap my parts over to it. I don't see my self paying $110 for a referb 60CS when this referb has been nothing but problems since I got it. Thanks for thinking of me!
  12. I too tried e-mailing him to no avail. I will leave you a PM and see if you answer it sometime. Thanks.
  13. Try GSAK just google it and check it out. I was doing the same thing your doing but when I finally upgraded my membership I needed a way to organize all my files. GSAK will let you upload them to your gps and you can change the display name if you want, add what kind of data goes to the gps(for example in the "notes" section when you click on a cache I have listed the cache size as a number and the dificulty as a number and the cache type as a letter) Good luck
