  1. As others, I don't like this new format and would like to put it back. When I try and look at a friend's profile it won't allow me to look at the caches they have found and defaults to a list of all caches locally to me but I can't clear the Filter to allow me to view - any ideas?
  2. Having just cached in Israel I hope we can see a souvenir for this country as there were a lot more caches there than I first expected.
  3. I'm very confused with this type of comment? What is geocaching? Well here's a log from my Brass Cap cache that does give me a great explanation of what geocaching is all about. Note the comment.... "They are the reason we have explored so much of our great province. The most favourite reason I love hunting for caps is all the fun I’ve had finding them with family and good friends and the memories we have created together " Your note sums up so much I enjoy about geocaching. I hope Groundspeak reconsider or find an exception so that the YOSM cache and its peers can continue to be enjoyed by many geocachers.
  4. This is terrible news and I hope Groundspeak reconsider. I accept the intention to restrict multiple logging in error or deliberate in standard caches but surely an exception can be found for GC45CC. This cache brings so much pleasure to geocachers and although I accept the move for all New caches PLEASE reconsider for this cache.
  5. I've been getting the same problem and it seems to have been for several weeks and even if I open GC via Google Chrome rather than IE it still won't allow me to search by postcode. Is there a way around this or should I contact GC??
  6. I'd like to add my support to the call for more country based souvenirs. I've just returned from Italy where I cached and also got two caches in the Vatican City but found neither warranted a souvenir to appear in my profile. It seems incredibly ad hoc for GS to not have artwork produced for each country that appears as a separate entity in the Statistics page of your profile - consistency ought to apply across the facility. I have no specific view about who designs the artwork and would have no objection to GS designing all of them. PLEASE can GS re-think their stance on this.
  7. Can anyone direct me to where there is a list of all the souvenirs that can be obtained? I recently visited Italy and got a few caches but don't appear to have Italy as a Souvenir in my profile so I'm interested to know how I might obtain one.
  8. As someone who has often cached in Gosport and enjoyed most (but not all )of the locations, I think the above suggestion from Team Tisri is a great way of helping to convince GBC and would ensure a lot of positive comments could be achieved. Very happy to attend a CITO in Gosport if you arrange one. Finally, exploit the political process and lobby your local councillor - it is always amazing how effective that can be (especially when elections are looming!). Good luck.
  9. Caching in Snowdonia is a real favourite of mine. My eldest son & I attended our first Event Cache on Snowdonia several years back and went up via the PYG Track from Pen-y-Pass and down via the Llanberis path - took about 3 hours (up). Always check the weather and be prepared (clothing etc)for a very different set of conditions at the top to the bottom (I've experienced sunshine in Llanberis and less than 10m visibility at the top). Our particular favourites are GC12RFV, GCDB1D, GC117VH, GC117B8, GC1AZX2 and over towards Anglesey - GCRDXM. We even got a FTF on GC23WCG. Taking a young child may restrict some of your caching but enjoy the scenery and the caching.
  10. A huge CONGRATULATIONS must go to Esscafe on hitting 20,000 caches. Sarah generally caches solo and it is a huge achievement - something most of us can only dream about
  11. There is also an indoor cache on the IOW. Check out 'GCFA50 - IOW - The Lord Palmerston' - well worth a visit.
  12. For about the last week I haven't been getting email notiofications of 'Finds' on my own caches and yet when I look via my profile there are finds against some of my caches. I seem to be getting notifications of New caches and where I am watching caches but not my own. Any ideas?
  13. Brilliant news - many thanks. Couldn't access it via IE but it worked via Firefox. Another 30 days Premium Membership
  14. I can imagine your surprise at getting a NA from an overseas cacher but I guess it's been useful as a reminder and I would rather have a reminder than people moan about my caches. Personally, I have logged a few NA's on cache outside my usual area but almost always for two reasons: 1. I am about to visit the area and am planning my route 2. If I happen to look at an interesting cache anywhere in the world and it looks to have been forgotten or ignored I will post a NA However, I have had a few uncomplimentary responses from the COs - which is a shame as my notes are always meant to help and not provoke - but as the saying goes "You can't please all the people all the time"!!
  15. Is it just me or have others seen the when you look at your Friends details through your Profile their Cache Totals no longer appear. If this is a permanent loss its a great shame as I was glad to see how others were doing and what milestones they had reached.
  16. Have I missed it ?? Seems to have been released in November but I can't find out if it ever played in the UK or is still to be shown. Does anyone know??
  17. Sadly I can't answer, but I'm glad I checked onhere as I thought it was a fault with my formatting - not sure its an improvement (but its strange how you can become accustomed to change
  18. WELL DONE to Esscafe on 5,000 caches (and as a solo female cacher)
  19. I hope someone in New Jersey might be able to help? Way back in August the above cachers retrieved a TB of mine that started off its travels in the UK. Despite numerous email prompts they have never responded and last logged onto GC on 1st October. Cachers from New England suggested a few hopeful ideas but the trail has gone cold. If anyone happens to know them could you give them a nudge and ask that they drop my TB off into a cache near to them - I understand they live in the NJ area or pass it over to a 'live' cacher so it can be moved on. They may have given up on Geocaching but I hope they could at least get my TB back into circulation. We know its daft after all this time but its a final attempt before we mark it MIA. I hope someone can help.
  20. Whilst I haven't met either of you I have benefited from both of you with my own attempts to get started - thank you. I hope you will now find the time to enjoy what is a fast growing sport or 'addiction' in the UK as you have both done so much to make it a success.
  21. Thanks for the advice. It was only after posting that I stumbled across the 'How To' advice !!! However, I will see if the owner wants to release it otherwise I'll place my own as its a lovely area.
  22. Can anyone help me out with this query? There is a cache near to me that was muggled back in March 2007 and it was disabled. The owners profile shows they have not logged into geocache.com for over 4 months. Is it best that I apply to set my own 'new' cache up nearby or should I ask the existing owner if they will relinquish their cache? If the latter, how do I get it transferred to me?? All help welcomed. Thanks
