  1. Was thinking I'd get my Tranquility coins but looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
  2. Found #161 yesterday at Sugar River Trail. Woohoo, my first mystery coin find! Thanks GCF.
  3. Looks like Indiana has three now as well. I know the southern end of that state is a little spooky (like French Lick ) so that's probably why. Nothing in Illinois yet though. Regardless, congrats to all recipients.
  4. Me too. Some of the coins are down to single digits. Boy that was fast. Edit: The red and black coins are already gone. Super quick!
  5. IIRC, the email I received said at or after 3PM Pacific time.
  6. Just what I need, more great looking coins to add to my list. I had heard about these but had been away from the forum for a while so didn't see the photos until now. I must say, they're better looking than I was told (and I'm sure they look even better in person).
  7. Halloween the night When Great Pumpkin makes his rounds May he bring you gifts
  8. I have this model and am very happy with it. I frequently get better than 20 foot accuracy except when under dense tree cover. Then it jumps up to 50 feet or so. The basemap that is included with the unit (and cannot be erased) is pretty basic. It only has major highways on it. This isn't really a problem if the unit is only used for caching and you have another way of figuring out how to get to a starting point for the hunt. I bought a copy of MetroGuide North America to get street level maps and POI data. This software has all of the data in the City Navigator product but does not do auto-routing on the 60csx. It was a bit cheaper then CN though and I already had a car navigator so didn't need the routing capabilities. Most people do get the CN (NT version has the same data, is compatible w/ the 60csx, and takes up less space so it usually the one chosen) product though. Updates to the operating software (and I believe basemap data) is available for free. The MapSource software (the PC viewing software, not the maps themselves) also has free updates (as long as you own a full copy of it). The map and POI data, however, is a purchased upgrade that comes out once a year. The upgrade fee for the North America versions of City Navigator have been $75. I'm not sure what service you're asking about if one has to pay for it but there is no fee (other than purchasing a receiver) to access the system.
  9. Try http://jeep.geocaching.com/photos/. This link was at the top of the contest page. There's nothing there yet though. The calendar on the contest site shows the first batch of photos being available for voting on August 1. Not sure if anything will show up before then. Joe
  10. I have MetroGuide V8 North America and Europe. From what I've read and based on the online map view, the MG and CN products have the same map and POI info. The difference is in the routing info. If looking for specific details, check out Garmin's MapSource Map Viewer at http://www.garmin.com/cartography/ Edit: Just re-read the original post and noticed the OP asked about V7 of the products. The online view will show V8 so that won't be a good indicator of what's in the older version.
  11. IrfanView (Windows only) will also resize images and is free. http://www.irfanview.com/
  12. You can use the following to go directly to the printer-friendly page as long as you know the cache's waypoint name (i.e. GC#). http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?pf=y&wp=<GC#>&log=<y/n>&numlogs=5&decrypt=<y/blank> Replace "<GC#>" with the cache's waypoint name. Replace the "<y/n>" for log with the desired value (y or n) whether or not all logs are desired Replace the "<y/blank>" for decrypt with the desired value (y or leave blank) whether or not hints should be decrypted. Setting "log=n" will not show any logs even if the "numlogs=5" portion is included so there's no reason to remove it if no logs are desired. Here's an example (5 logs, hint not decrypted): Old Chicago (GC108DA) Edited to give include the 5 logs portion to the URL & remove an error for hint decryption.
  13. Are you maybe thinking about a PalmOS version of the Treo 750? The 700P has been out for a while.
  14. Not sure which apps you're looking for but I use a Treo 650 with Cachemate with no problems. I have a Garmin GPSr so don't try to integrate a receiver into the Treo for an all-in-one solution.
  15. I occasionally get a similar error when trying to download a GPX file. GCJ807 is one example. Admitedly, it's archived, but other archived caches don't exhibit this problem.
  16. OK, thanks to my browser's history, I was able to track down the link to the PDF version I found that was on A4 paper. Here it is.
  17. Did you save the link? I can reformat it to suit my needs. No, sorry, and an attempt to locate it again via Google came up empty.
  18. I haven't hit my limit on the number of PQs I can have defined so I can't say whether or not I'll need more. In fact, I probably have several that will get deleted at some point since I no longer use them. Maybe I'll need more someday. As far as Magellan GPX file limitations... As mentioned in another thread on this issue, why not create a PQ to download the max number of caches and then use an offline program such as GSAK or EasyGPS to create a subset that will satisfy the Magellan requirements? I have pretty much all of the caches in Northern Illinois in a GSAK database even though my Garmin limits me to 1000 waypoints. In fact, I don't even fill the GPSr to capacity. I only keep two areas loaded (about 500 caches) that I frequent. If I'm going to be in another area, I can always create some space and load caches for that location.
  19. The maps and POI data on the MetroGuide and City Navigator are the same (for the same version). However, only CN will perform routing on those maps in the 60c(s)x. If you try to route on roads with MG loaded, the GPSr tries to use the basemap. There are ways to get routing to work with MG maps but they have limitations. I have both MG North America and Europe for my 60csx. I went this route since I have a navigation GPSr for the car (in the US) and pretty much just wanted something to cover walking around cities and caching. The CN products would be ideal but what I have meets my needs (at least for now). I leave the GPSr in "off-road" mode so even when I say "goto" a waypoint, I only get an arrow and a line but the maps show me the streets and I can figure out how to get close enough to park with a little thought.
  20. I seem to recall reading another post recently where Jeremy indicated the CITO logo falls under the same usage as the Geocaching.com logos. Edit: Found it! The thread is old but should the info should still be accurate. Here's the link to the thread.
  21. Tried searching but all of the links to files that I found either here or via Google came up dead. There was one exception but it from the UK and was for labels on A4 size paper.
  22. It looks like the MapSource software (the application that shows the maps) has a newer version, not the maps themselves. MapSource is a free update. The $75 update is for the map data of which you have the most current. The updated version of MapSource can be downloaded from here.
  23. Just checked the Garmin site and the update is now available for download. Here's the link
