  1. I think it's time for an update on this topic. I found another Corps of Discovery II - Lewis and Clark commemorative four-inch disk in Huntington, West Virginia. I can not say when it was monumented, but I guess it was between 2003 and 2006. The station is not listed in the NGS database nor on NOAA's special website for Corps of Discovery II marks. 32. David Harris Riverfront Park, Huntington, WV, 4-inch, no-PID, ??/??/???? (overlooking the Ohio River + plaque). Huntington, WV
  2. Let's log two is the motto of this station. My favorite is still GO0497 - FOUR CORNERS=GLO STA 1. This station is destroyed. It was replaced in 1992 with AD9256 - CO UT AZ NM. Most of the people are logging both marks. King Hubi
  3. Thanks BlueRajah, that's what I did. I created a waymark and used the photo URL in my post. In the meanwhile I figured out that Waymarking.com stores the photos three times. A small version with 256 x 194 pixel, a medium version with 768 x 576 pixel and the original version with 2816 x 2112 pixel. At first I used the original version in my post. Then I edited my post and used the medium version. Now everything is fine. King Hubi
  4. Thanks Motorcycle_Mama, as I wrote I'm to blind. I found the edit button. But is there a way to resize photos in a forum post? King Hubi
  5. Hi, I just posted minutes ago a reply in the Benchmark forum including two photos via BB Code img tag. Now I see the photos are to big. I would like to resize the photos so they fit into a normal screen. Can I resize photos with the img tag or can I use "real" html? Second problem is that I can not edit my own post. There is no edit button or I'm to blind to find it. I thought that's possible for a "short" time after posting. Thanks for any help, King Hubi
  6. And here is the 2000 Census State Center of Population monument for New Hampshire. It is located east of Route 3 in the front lawn at the Pembroke Town Library in Pembroke, NH. The disk sits in the top of a 1x1 foot granite stone. Coordinates are N 43° 09.011 W 071° 27.633. Until now it has no PID. I waymarked it, its waymark ID is WM8R63. 7. Nop, one ask me. But I saw the same post like yours in the waymark forum. You are right, updating the benchmark database here on geocaching.com would be very very nice.
  8. I'm a little bit lost. Hope you can help me. Looking on a bench mark page on geocaching.com I see the term Altitude right under the coordinates. Looking on holograph's great web site holoscenes.com I also see the term Altitude. Searching here in the Benchmark Hunting forum I find a mixture of Altitude and Elevation. Looking into a bench mark datasheet from the NGS I don't find Altitude nor Elevation but Height. Looking on the bench marks I have found so far I only see ELEV., ELEVATION, FOR ELEVATION WRITE ... Looking into the datasheets from the NHDOT (New Hampshire Department of Transportation) or MaineDOT (Maine Department of Transportation) I only find the term Elevation. My understanding is, that elevation is the height above mean sea level on the Earth's surface. Altitude is also the height above mean sea level - but mostly used for points above the surface of the Earth. So now, what is the correct term for the height of a bench mark, Altitude or Elevation? Thanks for your replies, King Hubi
  9. Same here, I also get the error message 500 when I go back to December the 5th. It is also very slow. Good thing is I usually don't use this functionality.
  10. Very interesting article. Many thanks! I have been there last year in August. Make sure you log the right one. It's funny to see that a lot of people always log the old one which is gone/destroyed many moons ago. And if you have a little bit more time just take a short stroll into the desert. There is another benchmark not far away called BOUNDARY MI COR 330 CO NM. You can't miss it. King Hubi
  11. You don't need to be a premium member to use GSAK however it is more convenient if you are. As a normal member (like me) you can download your finds into a geocaching.loc file. This .loc file contains only cache name, waypoint number, owner name, the coordinates of the cache and the web link of the cache. You can upload this .loc file into GSAK. Once this is done, you have to enter manually some more informations for each cache, like country, state, owner id, found and placed date, cache type, etc. Takes a little bit longer but it works fine for me. 12. Use leather cord, it's natural and fits better to a wooden hiking stick. Comes in many many colors. You should find it in mostly every craft store. Use small metal staples or cramps to fix the leather cord to the stick.
  13. The link works great, many thanks for the tip. Check out hike America. They also sell hiking stick medallions from mostly every national parks-, monuments and many many trails. I have the one from the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Mon., CO attached to my hiking stick.
  14. I like to throw in some more ideas how create a private waking stick. I only use a small swiss army knife to carve the stick. Then I painted it with water color pencils. The good thing is, the wood shines through the color. At the end I varnish the stick three times so that the color is protected from the elements. This was my favorite stick, however it is gone to heaven, broken in two pieces. But in the meanwhile I made a second one that looks similar. I use my own hiking stick every time while hiking and geocaching.
  15. Funny topic, love to see all these weird signs. I have two for you. Saw this sign while on the hunt for Lowell, aka Second Mass: The home of this great sign is the Arches National Park in Utah:
  16. Just go to the HIDE & SEEK A CACHE page and search for Steinwälzer via Found by Username or Hidden by Username. Once you hit the go button the system displays the username in the URL line of your browser. In your case it would be Steinw%C3%A4lzer. Try some names with all umlaute and you will have all the characters you are looking for. Oh, and don't forget the Eszett. Grüße über den Teich, King Hubi
  17. I also use Krylon Fusion camo spray paint, works great. You may check this thread: Lock & Lock containers, Any suggestions on painting techniques. Lots of good informations.
