  1. After the hunt and the anticipation of finding a mammoth, the $4.05 to get the free companion skeleton mammoth coin is acceptable to me. If $4.05 is going to break my bank account, I've got more problems than paying for shipping. LOL
  2. Last week, July 25... Waterloo, IA to LaCrosse, WI 266 miles round trip, 5 hours 4 minutes Status: Mammoth missing, no one has found it ? Kaddy's Cafe(excellent food) in LaCrescent, MN we ate lunch and grabbed a few caches there too. Today, August 2... Waterloo to Cresco 73 miles, 1 hour 17 minutes Status: Mammoth claimed by NINJAB, 5 minutes before we got there ? Cresco to McGregor 62 miles, 1 hour 12 minutes Status: Mammoth found/claimed by us ? McGregor to Waterloo 93 miles, 1 hour 39 minutes Grabbed caches all along the way if they were close to the highway. On a side note, that whole "loop" we drove today is beautiful and fun to to drive anytime, but absolutely gorgeous in the fall when the leaves change.
  3. To claim the skeleton mammoth partner coin, you've got to log the 6 digit code on the mammoth coin you find. You'll then receive a discount code that makes the skeleton mammoth coin FREE. ***Shipping to get your free skeleton mammoth coin is only $4.05.*** I can live with that. Especially after the 500+ miles of driving to find one. Third time was definitely charm. BTW, both coins are magnetic so when they join together one side is the mammoth and the other side is skeleton. The 66 mile drive to Cresco this morning took FOREVER it seemed. NINJAB beat us there by 5 minutes and vanished. We never even saw a footprint of him, but the mammoth was gone. We jumped back into the car and drove the 61 miles to McGregor and I was like kid waiting for Christmas hoping we'd be there first. We were and the rest is history.
  4. Just found my mammoth in McGregor, IA.
  5. Last week, a mammoth was hidden in LaCrosse, WI so we drove all the way there from Waterloo, IA only to find that it had been hidden in a not-so-good place and disappeared before anyone found it. Fast forward a week, I checked my email this morning and had 2 mammoth notifications. One from yesterday and one for today. We headed to Cresco, IA because there was a mammoth hidden at the fairgrounds yesterday. When we got there it was missing and no one had claimed it yet. We found out on the way to the next mammoth that NINJAB beat us to the first one by just 5 minutes. We never even saw a footprint of him. LOL Since there was another mammoth hidden in McGregor, IA we headed east in hope's it would still be here. I was as anxious as a kid at Christmas driving the 61 miles to the next chance to find a mammoth. With a little luck, help from my wife and Pinky... Bingo!
  6. New Geocaching Rule... All mosquitos, chiggers, ticks, wasps, dangerous vegetation & trees, etc must stay at least 10 feet away from any geocache and/or geocachers, but may still feel free to show some love to any geocachers who steal travel bugs, muggles, and/or those who destroy geocaches. All in favor, say Aye!
  7. Thunder Chick was MIA for years and then popped up in June 2020 when another geocacher actually found her and moved her on. Then she promptly vanished again. It is now posted on Travel Bug Rescue... www.project-gc/Tools/TBRescue ***$10 reward for it's return*** If found, contact us here by PM or at z51stingray@outlook.com and we'll gladly pay postage to have it returned to us. Thunder Chick... TB14PJ0
  8. It was under one of the river bridges, "on the wrong side of the tracks", and when we walked up to the hiding spot... there were 2 homeless folks there who asked us if we were looking for the "clue" cuz several had come before us and not found it. They were nice, but even they said, "This is the wrong place to hide anything or put anything of value." We thanked them and left.
  9. The hider of the Mammoth in LaCrosse, WI, hid it at a place where homeless and drug addicts gather. Needless to say, it disappeared before anyone found it.
  10. Well, that didn't take long. Thunder Chick is missing again.
  11. This is America. Travel restrictions are unconstitutional as is the governors shutting down churches and businesses. Just tell the authorities you're protesting and you can go wherever and whatever you want.
  12. I love the "arms race". LOL I'll be using trail cams at some of my caches and plan on using one at my TB Hotel when it's made and launched.
  13. I always notify the cache owner if maintenance is needed. I plan road tripping next weekend to find a suitable cache.
  14. It's not a dream, it's a nightmare. I've got TB's that were shanghai'ed by people who joined, logged the TB, and never logged back in again. If anyone here sees my posts and sees ANY of my missing TB's anywhere... YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION to snag them, contact me, I'll give you the reward, and pay the postage so they can come home.
  15. I've been searching for TB Hotels and normal caches, in Waterloo/Cedar Falls(Iowa), to launch a new TB I have called, "It's a T.W.A.P.!", TB86C9D It seems that all I find are micros(which are fun) and any of the normal sized caches I've found were either "Do not drop anything" caches, DNF's, or complete garbage(wet, broken, etc). I'm not ready to launch my own hotel or cache yet. Any ideas or suggestions?
  16. I hope so. I plan on launching and relaunching a bunch of TB's this fall. I followed the advice from some of the cachers here and things will be different this time around.
  17. ***$10 reward each for their return*** If found, contact us at z51stingray@outlook.com and we'll gladly pay postage to have them returned to us. Baby Kong... TB156DJ Lightning McQueen... TB14TBE Live Long and Prosper... TB14TJF Thunder Chick... TB14PJ0
  18. ...now is found. Thunder Chick(TB14PJ0) is back in circulation after being MIA for 6 years. THANK YOU to Neet0Geo0 who found her and moved her on.
  19. This whole corona virus thing has gotten me back into geocaching. That's when I noticed my TB's had been stolen. Now work needs to slow down a little and stop working me on weekends so I have more time to do it. I'm hoping to attend the event coming up in July in Waverly, Iowa. If I were to go to one of these events and I see one of my TB's, is it permissible to repo it?
  20. I've read throughout this forum about the Travel Bug "Collectors". Let's call them what they are, Travel Bug Thieves. I'm surprised more people don't call these thieves out, at events or otherwise. Maybe a little public shaming would do them some good. At the very least, these people should have contacted the original TB parents and asked if it was OK to adopt them and take them out of circulation. I would have gladly given permission to the person(s) responsible for stealing my TB's, as long as they had reached their destinations beforehand.
  21. I received an email saying I needed to finish registration in order for my posts to be public. I can log in just fine, but some of my posts are hidden and others are public. If any moderators read this, please correct this. Thank you!
  22. Last seen 8 years ago in Arizona, after 20,981.4 miles and never reaching its destination before being Shanghai'ed. It is now posted on Travel Bug Rescue... www.project-gc/Tools/TBRescue ***$10 reward for it's return*** If found, contact us here by PM or at z51stingray@outlook.com and we'll gladly pay postage to have it returned to us.
