  1. Yes, I am using Version 7.2.3.35. I am also using Windows XP. I am so close to being able to use this great program you so well wrote for this "kindergartne" for my Nuvi 680. It just uploads deleted old caches I have already found.
  2. No it doesn't download any new caches only old found ones. I have removed all found caches. I am really quite a novice at this. I don't know how to find or adjust the Micros. Don't know how to remove the gpx file in POIloader. I need help like a kindergartner. If there is anyone in the Phoenix area that can fix this let me know.
  3. Fortunately the GSAK uni-install does noit remove data files. Does the download to the nuvi include found caches because the found caches are also in your GSAK database your downloading? Perhaps making a Found database and moving the found caches there makes more sense. Not sure but you might need to remove the gpx file in the POI loader directory and generate a clean one. Jim

  5. Premium Member Group: Premium Members Posts: 8 Joined: 21-December 06 Hope someone can help me. I have a Garmin Nuvi 680. I had downloaded pilotsnipes program for paperless caching. Everytime I upload caches to my Nuvi, it always sends caches I have ALREADY FOUND. I use GSAK. There is nothing in GSAK except 1 sample cache. Today I uninstalled GSAK and reinstalled. Oddly enough the Nuvi button is still on there. I thought I would need to reinstall the program for paperless caching. It uploaded 400 caches and there is only 1 cache to be loaded. I am at my witts end, and can't think of anymore things to try
  6. Like I first described, I have a kindergarten mentality. I don't know what version of firmware I have nor do I know how to upgrade if necessary. Need help with this also.
  7. I played around a bit with my Nuvi 680. I changed it to 2xx from 6xx. I no longer get the error messages I described. Guess that was one of my problems. I can hold down on the green bars and the map of a selected cache comes up and I took it for a spin and it took me right to the cache. Now I have one more BIG problem and if I can get it ironed out I am good to go, I think. I go to GSAK and the Database I WANT to down load and it downloads all the old caches I have found. I don't even have a page on GSAK right now of my past finds. So how do I get it to download the page of caches I want and also it only downloads about 12 and it tells me it has downloaded 200. I am so close. Hope someone can help me. I loved my sample spin with Nuvi yesterday.
  8. Well here I go. I have never written to ask a question on this forum. I have skimmed thru the 13 pages and my mind is mind boggled. I was excited that I can download caches to my Garmin Nuvi 680. I am not savy like all these people on the last 13 pages. First I don't know what "xxx" I have. I installed the well written instructions to the best of my kindergarten mentality. I got to the screen that says "Please select the directory where the data can be found. At this point I am just using the default on the screen. Then I get an error msg. that says, Windows cannot find..... c:\programfiles\garmin\sox.exe.......so I clicked ok. Now I get a second error msg. that says Poiloader unable to convert.........c:\gsak\poiloader/geocache tour guide.wav to proper format, therefore this audio file will not be transfered to your gps. I clicked ok. Then it says my downloads were successful. The story gets better. I look at my custom POI's and they are ones I don't even have in GSAK anymore. There are only like 6 or so caches listed not like 200 I ask for from my database in GSAK. Geeze I am just blown away by all this. I hope you can help me.
  9. I am fairly new at the geochaching having found only 275. I noticed looking at profiles of people that have found our first cache we hid, they have their cache statistics listed. My question is what is the most popular and easiest to use free program to down load my stats into? Would appreciate any help. Bobmo38
  10. I had same problem. Using less paper and only getting the info I need. This is what I do. I go to Microsoft Word, and write the Cache name and Geocache code on a new document. Then I go to the page of the cache I am working with. I copy & paste the curucial info with corresponding waypoint in to Word. I do this with all my caches then I print them out. quote name='geochiles' date='Jun 24 2007, 10:57 AM' post='2929773'] We print our caches and take them with us. What we'd like is an easy way to both map and print a set of caches we intend to do for the day/trip. I'd like to be able to create the set of caches (with the bookmark list), then create a map with all of them on it to print. With just these caches and the index. Then I'd like to print all the caches in my bookmark list (or the ones that I check from the list). Now, this gets into the printing thread a bit. My goals are: - print the crucial information only (waypoints, name, description, 5 logs, clue). No unimportant images, etc. - i like to not use up too much paper, and not use up too much color ink It might be easier if you were to dump this into a txt file and then I could just edit out what I don't want. At least a map of the bookmark list would help me to do the map for where i need to go. Thanks! Love this site and geocaching. Geochiles
