  1. Sure. FTF Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI LOL!
  2. Don't stop.... Sooner rather than later would also be nice. I'm really tired of losing about every cartridge now due to corruption on my Vista laptop.
  3. It's my cartridge guys. No custom code on that particular cartridge (or any current ones - COUGH). I've heard the same from someone else locally running the Oregon they had issues resuming and just a week ago - a PPC user. Saturday I was fooling around and had it happen to me one time and then I tried it again later on and it resumed ok. I'm still thinking it's the Player on the device.... at least at this point.
  4. What I have been doing is create a zone with my coordinates, and then use Google to adjust the zone itself. But when I click on the link to view/edit the zone online I get "script errors" with Google. It used to work previously.
  5. Jeff - I have read other threads here that mention that even though the version numbers of the Engine 2.11 are the same on both the Colorado and the Oregon - there are differences.....
  6. Are inactive zones still consuming memory? I know I've read recommendations are no more than 10 zones per cartridge. However, could I have say 20 - and only a few active at a time and not have to worrry about memory and other performance issues?
  7. I seem to remember seeing a topic posted regarding editing zones online with the Google Maps. However, I'm not finding it. Is anyone else getting script errors with editing the zone size / shape online with Google Maps?
  8. Hidden zones work great on a Colorado. I use them frequently. They work just like a visible one - only the player can not see them. Just like the visible one - the player still has to zero out in it - which I why I make sure the zone is large enough where zero'ing out isn't an issue.
  9. Are you saying the leave zone event doesn't work for the colorado?
  10. I guess I haven't looked to see how many are actually in existence... Next time I'm in GR I'd like to try out OpenWIG and see if it will work on one of those caches by Conman. In an ideal world, I'd figure out how to make one in Muskegon . I'd love to do one in Muskegon!
  11. I tried a different method initially - just getting the inputs in succession - it blew right past all but the last input and you could only answer that one. I learned something new. Thanks for helping this non programmer actually do a realatively simple task! If you only knew how I made it through Turbo Pascal and C++ in college, Ranger Fox, I'd certainly be embarassed! I just don't have that development mindset. Thanks again!
  12. I have a zone, with a character in that zone. I would like to be able to ask a series of questions, get the answer, check the answer, and then move on. I know how to ask a single question but I'm not too sure about a series of questions.... I have my suspicions and ideas however. Suggestions?
  13. Only a couple within 50 miles ?!?! You are SO lucky! There are states that have NONE! Michigan has 6 or 7 I believe. Having that many in Michigan in my most humble of opinions make them much more popular than say Wisconsin which has none! Perhaps you could contact the cache owner or someone else who has the hardware to do one of the nearby Wherigos.
  14. Are you running with the latest firmware release?
  15. How much text are in the text diaglog box? It if is a lot (there is a known issue at least with the Colorado) it is known the lock the unit up. However, in the same thread I see that others have had no issues.... so I am at a loss at the moment.
  16. Perhaps you could always find a local cacher who would be willing to go out and do some of the local Wherigo caches with you? Are there any Wherigo caches near you?
  17. I am having my cartridge corrupt after showing a series of dialog boxes to the player. It saves it okay and lets you continue on. Once you close and re-open the cartridge you get the error message saying it can not open the cartridge in the builder. I found that by deleting that function in the builder function area of the cartridge it will open it back up. Once you re-add the dialog, save and close, it will no longer open. My question - is there a maximum amount of text you can show to a player using the "show a series of dialog boxes to the player"? Will adding quotation marks around text cause problems? Commas in the text? (I'm grasping at straws here....) For what it's worth - I scrapped the entire file and started over. But I am curious if there is a maximum.
  18. They work just fine on my colorado as well!

    Site changes

I know I am certainly looking forward to new changes and where the newest updates will take us!
  20. Here are a couple of older threads on this topic: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=195299 (see post #2) http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=192945 Both pretty much touch on the same problem. Download an older version and it should work I believe is the answer. I know it did for me.
  21. Some time ago I had the same issue. My problem was that I was only displaying a single diaglog box for every interaction with the user. Changing it over to "show a series of dialog boxes" made all of the difference in the world. If you want to attach your source I'll take a peek through it.
  22. I believe it was the cartridge GUID - in fact I noticed it's the same GUID used in the URL on Wherigo.com's site and it all came from the cartridge. I wondered how to place the value of a variable in a message box... thanks for the info! Any sample code for this "student" to look at (ok, ok. "borrow") for resuse so I can see the value of said variable?
  23. I love the idea! I have thought of the same idea just for different reasons. My idea was using a cartridge and if the player knew the right "code" it would take them to a different part of the game (just like on the Nintendo or other game console). That would certainly make development much more difficult - although I don't think impossible. Just off the top of my head - perhaps when it asks the user which language they would prefer - store their answer in a variable. Then at every interaction read that variable and then display the content in their language preference. Just my humble two cents worth...
  24. I changed the cartDoYouSeeWhatISee.Id="ef12768e-a915-4e61-8305-d3980a0a336d to a cartDoYouSeeWhatISee.Id="ef12768e-a915-4e61-8305-d3980a0a336E. My heart sank for a brief second thinking many hours of my time just went down the tank and I was going to have to do it again! Scary that I'm starting to play around in the LUA code directly too. Tonight I created some skeleton zones wtih barely enough to exist and added scripts to each of the zones manually! That certainly saved a LOT of clicking in the builder too!
