  1. So Team_DDNight are you putting it together? If you need any help, e-mail me at turtle3863@yahoo.com and i will help. I thought about putting out the county challenge, but Southpaw beat me to it.
  2. The Turtles will be on spot #13. We liked that site so much at the TrailMix that we got it again for Friday and Saturday.
  3. He is a homeless guy (by choice that is) He and Cache-22 are waiting out just the right house. One thing about SMTC that I alway thought was great, is that he treats all cacher alike no mater how many finds you have. When I first met him, I had 10 finds and he invited me into the geo community like I had a thousand. It is because of the way he treated me that contributed to me becoming so involved in this game. Congrats and good luck in all your endeavors, hopefully your house hunting abilities will reap results soon.
  4. Check out this website for the next INKY event in the area. They usually have one every 3rd Tuesday in the month. November's is bumped up to the second Tuesday because of Thanksgiving. It is a very laid back event with alot of people talking about geocaching. We would love for you to come.INKY website
  5. While in Bardstown you might want to check out the Kentucky Bourbon Trail: KY Bourbon Trial I have a cache at Beam and Makers Mark. Nice twisty country road driving to these great out of the way areas.
  6. Notice that DEERMARKS is one of the few dry sites. I am glad Better Half Shell and I spent the night in the hotel.
  7. Any idea as to where the location for next years will be yet?
  8. I have heard that Lance Armstrong geocaches. The add for geocaching hats that is sometime displayed looks like Lance.
  9. I know that was just an event cache and I did sign both the log book and the log, but it kind of makes you think, why not just use the log. I will leave this subject of what makes a log book up for another day or so then I will be closing the subject before it goes too far a stray. If you think there should be more leeway in what is a log book, write you reviewer and have them plea your cause to Groundspeak.
  10. You mean like this one: This is the log book for Geowoodstock 5
  11. I'm sure that most people feel that their cache is unique and fun. That doesn't mean that they are. It can be a drain on reviewers to have to try and decide which are and which are not. Yet another reason why virts are not allowed anymore. Yes - where is the line? The line is at a container with a log. If it doesn't meet that criteria, and if it's really unique enough to warrant an exception and the cache owner believes it strongly enough, then they can appeal to Groundspeak. I already did. Here is my last e-mail from Groundspeak: First and foremost please be advised there is no precedent for placing caches. This means that the past listing of a similar cache in and of itself is not a valid justification for the listing of a new cache. If a cache has been posted and violates any guidelines listed below, you are encouraged to report it. However, if the cache was placed prior to the date when a guideline was issued or updated the cache is likely to be “grandfathered†and allowed to stand as is. without a container and a log this cache can not be published. What has been published before is never a factor. Signing a wall is not acceptable. Thank you, Michael Groundspeak - The Language of Location Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: PKH-xxxxxxx Department: Reviewers Priority: Low Status: Closed
  12. For the Reviewers. Spirit and Intent should rule the day. That's why the guidelines are not hard rules. A unique and fun cache should not be denied just because it's a square peg. Live on the edge and approve things that would be enjoyable to find especially if they meet the spirit and intent of what a cache is. My point exactly.
  13. Take the small spiral notebook phrase as an example, not as the only thing that could be used. Generally, the log is something you place with the cache, not a wall or a similar object. And while you may have permission, please note this statement from the guidelines: edit: added word "notebook" The guy owns the wall and wishes for people to sign or put a comment on it as a form of art.
  14. At the coordinates there was a plastic card that instructed you to log the cache on the wall. Tape a little pouch on the card that can hold a slip of paper. Invite people to sign the wall as well. You know, you might be on to something here. I might give this suggestion a try.
  15. At the coordinates there was a plastic card that instructed you to log the cache on the wall.
  16. Well after having a cache rejected then sending it to appeal and then turned down, I now find myself with the only thing I have left, MY OPINION. The cache in question was rejected because you had to log it on a wall. I had permission to use the wall which is already being used for people to write what they wish on it. I could have just as easily put a 35mm container in a light pole out front and would have had no problem getting it approved. I thought that a cacher would enjoy signing the wall instead of just finding the micro in the light pole. The real question I would like to put out there is this: What constitutes a log book? I have looked through the guidelines and I do not see a description.
  17. We wanted some shade so we opted for the "B" camping area site #7. For everyone else who would like shade instead of location, come on over to the dark side.
  18. I have been lucky enough to go to all the Geowoodstocks and from what I have seen so far this one is raising the bar even higher. Looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible and eating some of that BBQ.
  19. This might have been discussed somewhere else, but I am unable to find it. I noticed on a preview of the Amazing Race for Sunday April 29th that one of the team members is holding a Garmin GPSMap 60cx, does anyone know if they are in fact searching for a geocache in that episode or are just trying to find a clue with the unit. It would be great exposure if it is in fact a geocache that they are looking for with the clue for their next pit stop.
  20. I have Comcast and I am having the same problem.
  21. Thanks for the info, I will check that post for updates, hopefully they are working on it.
  22. I just installed the new update of MS Explorer web browser on my computer and now all those neat picture that used to show up when I placed my corsor over them are cut in half. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix in the works?
  23. I would love to see them come back, but I can understand that it would be hard to control, so my suggestion is that they be allowed to come back only in places where it is impossible to have a regular cache. The National Parks are a perfect example. I know that they do have Earth Caches, but this past weekend I did Three caches on a hike up to the top of Mt. LeConte in TN. and they were all great, but none would have been a Earth Cache.
  24. One person set up Geowoodstock and it is now in the hands of a select few who have a good idea as to how they want to put it on. This select few would probably not be interested in having two events because they would quickly lose control of this premiere event. The Midwest Geobash has grown to be almost as big as Geowoodstock and I would think that folks from the west coast might want to start a western region caching event that could eventually become as big as the fore mentioned events. In order for it to grow, someone has to have the vision and put it to motion.
