I just removed the preload.GGZ file from the gps and they were gone on the next start up.

Have you tried creating a pocket query? Not sure it will get all caches in 50 miles depending on where you live (limited to 1000 caches). If it does not you can make more to cover the areas you want.

I think collectable mean they can keep it if found so probably not the best but it's on your car, good luck getting g it off.. As far as missing, no idea the official rules but why put it as missing (stolen) if it is not? Can it even be logged as a find if it is marked as mia?

Do they have any low cost private security options that anyone else knows about? Seriously, if you do not want to use your phone for risk of damage or high data fees a $100 etrex will get you there but you may soon find it lacking in features. There are ways with offline lists to use the phone without data. I know there are bad places everywhere but if your trying to use the GPS to prevent you being mugged for your phone, good luck. They look the same from 20 feet. I have traveled a bit and lost luggage is not out of the possibility if this is what you meant by stolen. But again. If you are in kabul or something and it is that dangerous, unless your armed with a private detail, maybe hanging in the hotel is a better hobby. Just saying..

As much as the privacy button might be nice as said above it is tough to be private in a game that requires logging of finds. Only way to stay private is give false locations for your home coordinates, make a screen name that is not your name or something recognized. I do not think there is a way to just read profiles unless you click them right? Hate to say it but if you are that worried about an ex or are actually hiding from a stalker or abusive partner you need to just not be on here. It is unlikely they could find you here by using the above tips, even if they knew you were still caching. Unless they got your screen name from a child they still could not do much. We log after the fact so it's not like they'd show up while your out on the hunt. Compared to what somewill put out on Facebook every second they move this site really is pretty benign.

I lost most of what was being said in that mess.. But if battery becomes and issue on your phone pick up one of those juice packs. I have one htat is about the size of a pack of smokes and charges my phone 5 or 6 times over. If the phone needs some protection I can attest to the otter boxes.. Pricey but worth it. I had mine a week on an Iphone s3 and it was knocked off my belt four stories up on a roof. It fell onto the hard ground, bounced, then crashed onto the sidewalk... Otter box had a scratch, phone worked great for many more years and drops!

I know nothing of the watches.. I know not helpful.. But I was out caching and met up with a guy using one of these Fenix watches. He seemed to be moving right along and finding caches so they must not do all that bad!

That's cool. I have yet to be able to use my new GPSMap 64 in the filed since it will not stop snowing but I was amazed I had 15 foot est accuracy in the middle of my home. My Delorme needed a perfect sky and no tree cover to even get an initial fix. It is probably more related to the new GPS having a more modern GPS chipset than manufacturer. I would suspect a new Delorme would be better than your older one. OH I know it is. Ten years makes a big difference I am sure. Other than my delorme being a pain to sync with a computer it worked well. I simply made a switch to Garmin due to the open source support. I got about 20 hours off my delorme not sure about the Garmin yet..

there is also people who wont even tough the actual TB. Me, I'm not snobbish like that, I move it along if I can or leave it if I cannot. I do not care whether it is the real deal or not. I have two TB (well three but one not deployed) and numerous coins. I deployed both my TB and they went missing. Re-deployed the one TB and it went missing from it launch site within a day. I won'make that mistake again... Not in this day.

I know this topic has died, just as well, but I was listening to a podcast last night while at work. It was called Geogearheads and it was from 2012 and oddly enough in reference to the GS API going live at that point. They were interviewing a member of the GS crew (Irish I think the last name was). He spoke of the API going up and what was available to the other programs through the API. One thing of interest and of which was clearly stated... Your home location. That was in 2012 so seems like the private home location has been a bust since at least then.

Yo can purchase the Tavelbug which comes with an ID # / trackable #. Once you have it you can do as you wish with it.

There seem to be lots of things that should be here that are not. Some are even here but buried and seemly hidden away. Another place to try if the PQ is a no go is project-gc.com they have all sorts of stats and such.

I am not a pocket query user God but I am sure it can be done thru that.

If I wanted Facebook I'd be over there. But I guess I can see a benefit to the likes to cut down on those dog piles. But people, even agreeing, still want to say their peace if if they can click a like or agree. I do not revisit my past finds with exception to the ones right around me. I list them as watching in case someone is on locations and lost, needing a bit of a phone a friend or other assistance.
