  1. Why are people leaving Where's George bills in caches anyway? The whole point of Where's George is to track where the bills NATURALLY circulate! I log 'em immediately and spend them.
  2. I say fine, but please post on the cache page that it is on private property and you have the property owner's approval. I would refuse to search on private property without such a legend, fearing I was in the wrong place and not wanting to get in trouble. Also the cache site would need to be such that there is no chance of people going astray and rooting around in someone else's yard unless your neighbors know about it and are OK with that.
  3. Does this mean we can log said woman as a TB if we see her?
  4. I've never used any maps when geocaching, other than to use the MapQuest map on the cache page to get a general idea of where I'm going. I have US basemap in my Garmin, but I don't really use it much.
  5. I'm all for the find/DNF heading on each cache. The figure Team Shibby mentions isn't real helpful as it could include 10 logs of "couldn't find it" followed by notes by the cache placer "checked - it's still there."
  6. I'd like to see the cache page include the # of times the cache has been found in the title area that shows up when you search - right now there is no way to get this information other than opening up the cache page and counting the logs, correct?
  7. For use as a speedometer/odometer (I'm an endurance horse rider). Was thrilled to find a new activity that used the other features of my GPS!
  8. I think the plastic tag is OK - what you should work on is the message. The current message is not very intelligible to a newbie and results in lost bugs. The instruction tag is a good idea, or maybe just print on the back of the tag. Something like "Travel bug - first log your bug find on www.Groundspeak.com, then place me in another cache as soon as possible." Is there a way to make the bug find page on the same page as the cache so you can do it in one swoop as when you drop a bug off in a cache? I.e, log page would have a section "I found a bug here [enter number]" Perhaps you could add a space or additional tag that says "Help me find my way to: _______" so you don't accidentally move the bug 100 miles the wrong way before getting to the computer to discover its goal. In any case, I recommend that the bug starter do this. The only problem is you can't change the goal then unless you enlist the help of someone that has found the bug.
  9. Well, I don't ride ATVs, but I am an endurance horse rider. Got into geocaching because already had the GPS for endurance riding. Seems like caching would appeal to anyone who likes to tool around outside - whether on horse, ATV, skis, or your own 2 feet.
  10. In Minnesota there are both. State Parks are preserves and managed to provide recreational opportunities - they usually have nice campsites, visitor centers. State Forests are logged, and there are fewer rules (you can camp anywhere, for example, or ride an ATV) and less developed recreational opportunities.
