  1. I posted this info above, and Groundspeak told me to come in here because they are to busy with geocaching to be bother with Waymarking errors. (my paraphrase) . In the past 3 months I have had about 20 of those 500 error. Once I get one, trying to add a visit or new makrer I have to completely shut down the computer and re boot and then open Waymarking anew.... sometime this does not work, (i.e a visit to you catholic church in Westphalia MO)....received 5 of those error notices today, and even after a reboot.
  2. Little Caesars is in England, and 4 Arab States and Australia, with new franchises to open in France and Germany...
  3. I have it put together, but was advised to post something in here. Officers on board, and they have voted on requirements and variables.... Since we have about down to 8th largest in the hamburger world the Third largest in Pizza world should be acceptable. They are also in 8 country other than US with 6 more countries with locations under construction. So, they do meet the world wide requirement. Little Caesars Pizza... without major objection will go to Peer tomorrow...after I check in here to see how much screaming and hollering is going on....lol YoSam.
  4. I only have 266 of the "grid" spaces, so I made a list, now I don't specifically go for a grid space when I tour. I like to "discovery" stuff. So, I plan a tour trip of about 4 counties, say, in MO. Then I check a map route making sure I visit all county seats. I check Nat. Reg of their listed sites, and Smithsonian for outdoor statues....then off I go. I visit all town within 3 miles of the chosen hwy route. I also bring along, 6 to ten grid square names that I do not have an be on the look out for one of them. I know I miss a lot, BUT I find a lot. And each trip I miss less. Took two trips through the Panhandle of Texas, via OK and KS...I found a ton of Historic (my main goals) but missed a lot I do not miss now. So, how far? depends on how you view How far. A trip has been 2 thousand miles, some trips less. Just finished one in Sept. went through 7 MO counties and 2 in IA, since I am that close cannot pass it up. In the major counties of MO...BruceS has been there and had all the "good" stuff....but there were still small things he missed and that was worth the search for me. I noticed many (like in IL) who follow me in an area, and they find a lot I missed. Good for the game. Back when I started I was going to find all the Lewis & Clark markers on the Katy Trail. Sometimes it is 12 miles between trailheads (usually old deserted train towns) and the markers are in between. I have walked up to 8 miles for ONE (1) Lewis and Clark marker - see Lewis & Clark in Gore.
  5. When this happens to me, I start thinking about a category take over. There is an established procedure to follow if you are interested in ousting deadbeat officers and taking over the management of the category. I have found the procedure to be fair to all (I have started the procedure and as a result, the leader was "woken up" by Groundspeak. I and others in this forum can help with more details. Would be definately interested. The two categories I have in mind are "Country Churches" and "Iowa Historic Markers" both have the same leader. She is a nice person, I use to communicate with her a lot (2010 and before) but lately I do not get a response. I have 4 in each and they are going no where. I have several categories of my own, but I am willing to take over a couple more. I review only 5-6 each day so my brain can breath. If I do too many I get lazy and sloppy, so with that in mind. where do I go from here? and thanks.
  6. I just had one, in LDS Sites, denied "because it d is not a LDS site" And in fact the site was built by Mormons, was the home of 4 Presidents of the Church of Latter Day Saints, and I wrote the leader...the only active officer BTW, making a fine dictatorship....and no answer to date. If they are going to reject submissions that qualify - why in the sam-hell do they have a category to begin with? Update, "B Family" sent me a very nice e-mail and took the trouble to explain the split in the LDS church and why it was declined. I was pleasantly impressed with the detail and professional way he handled it. I wish some of that info was in the requirements, but now I am just getting picky.

  8. Alas! cannot. I thought of that, but she has the settings that the officers can only review submission and review visits...they have no other power. PS This also goes for the Iowa Historical Markers category. She has logged on last 10/14/2013...so she is around, but has not reviewed submissions - other officers in Iowa logged in 6/10/2013...and the third some time in 2007. (Really?) MNSearchers needs to clean up her categories.
  9. I have a question of my own. If you read my reply to MountainWood, you will see I was gone for a while, now I have playing again. What do I do with categories, where I make a submission and check the officers, and it usually has only 3 - and the latest one has even logged onto the site has been YEARS....or in one case, none of the officers had logged in in over 4 months....I know my submission will not be reviewed soon. Yo
  10. I am an officer in both of these, and I check my review list every day. One thing, to keep in mind is I am the ONLY officer reviewing submission in some of my categories. I even email the leader of country church and asked her to add a couple officer (one being you) so I could get some help. I quit Waymarking for almost 3 years, but still kept up my responsibilities of reviewing submissions. My pattern now is to review 5 to 6 submissions every day. Some days I have over 60 submissions, and you can see that will take me about 10 days to get to the last one. Another issue is Charles Britton (GEO*Trailblazer 1) passed away and no one knew it. When I found out, I got command of Missouri and got everything caught up. Country Churches is another matter. We have three officers. One has not logged in in a few years. The other our leader has slowed down a lot and the third is me. I have 4 submissions lingering in there myself. I will not review my own. I have email twice and asked her to add officers, but have not received even a reply. YoSam.
  11. I agree, this is what I would do. And if the they are significant monuments and the move was significant then I would consider adding a waymark to the Relocated category I also agree. This has happened several times in Texas and Missouri Historical Markers...we also ask that a note be made in the long description area that the marker (monument) was moved from xyz location on whatever date if known.
  12. I see where in some cases it help describe the waymark more accurately...but in the case of, say, Texas Historical Markers, the originator wanted the historic marker title to be the only title for accurate representation of the signage. So, it depends on the subject matter, and how the category founder feels is best to represent what he/she was aiming for.
  13. I use the que, and in the mornings, and I have so many categories, that I do 3 per each each day...and while working through a new one pops up, say, in a category no others were in that morning...and I will review it right away....so it will receive a quick response while others may lag a day sometimes two...or in the case of Texas..where we sometimes have as many as 50 entered on a day...a bit longer.
  14. Congrats. Just saw this post (I don't come in here much -LOL) You have helped my as an officer and a friend.....this is praise for you hard work... Your information on Civil War site is breathtaking.
  15. Charles and I had lunch several times, when I was in that part of Missouri....we became friends through the Waymarking category of Missouri Historical Markers. We both we tracking all the stage coach stations of the Butterfield Stage Line through MO and AR (1858-1861) We found and hunted in some deep woods, and found foundations, and other clues... I will miss him, am saddened with his passing. YoSam.
