  1. How awful. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends.
  2. If you think the cache might be missing then you should definitely log it ASAP to alert the owner. If I get 2 DNFs in a row I will check on the cache. Only one DNF might mean that cacher didn't eat their Wheaties that day. Sorry I was kind of vague there. I pretty much thought the ONLY reason to do it was if you actually looked hard for it and didn't find it. Not like...I tried to go at lunch while wearing a skirt and stockings and fell over a tree about 600 feet from the cache. I figured, why post THAT if owners just need to know if it is maybe gone. But I'm getting the nuance now. So I went back and added the story The good news is that if I log them all, I can really provide some top notch entertainment for everyone. When I fail, I epic fail. Some of my best caching stories are DNFs.
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wardriving Now I know and understand why I ignore such a thing.. wiki is retarded and user based. Most recognized universities want nothing to do with wiki... it is the fact check place for net newbies. I would feel less intelligent for citing it.. you should also.... wikipedia is the last refuge of fools... Then cite another source if you think it is wrong... Are you actually asking me to educate you? I never said it was wrong... good lord man... do you have any idea that wiki is a user based website? I asked for an answer.. and you asked me to provide one? Sorry pal... not here to do your thinking. Is there a particular reason that you feel the need to be abusive to someone who only tried to answer a question you were too lazy to Google for yourself? Actually, I apologize to TrailGators and Alabama rambler. I was in a bad mood and was rude to someone trying to help. I am very sorry. Bruce. No problem, I get bad days too. I was just curious to hear about what you thought was a better online source. I'm not going to start a new off-topic thread just to ask a quick question. So just message me if you have a better one... Anyhow, we found out the reason the cache wasn't approved. I've never heard of a cache like that, but it sounds like a fun idea!
  4. So if I eat Wheaties I find more caches? Let me at em! It works and someday a geocacher will make he cover of a Wheaties box!
  5. The milk has been spilled. So it's better to just filter out the micros. You can also ask the locals for their "favorites" or "must-do" caches and add those back in including the micros (if you enjoy non-numbers micros).

  8. I'm guessing that they don't want the website directing people to snoop around and potentially hack into a neighboring wireless connections.
  9. You didn't offend me. I created the SD Consensus Favorites list and post it in my signature line to let people know where to go to find the caches that we enjoy more. There are some awesome caches in San Diego. It is a beautiful area with the ocean, mountains and desert all within driving distance. Of course, if you hit the only the urban areas without a plan, you'll find the same types of caches you'd find in any urban environment.
  10. If you knock over one at one end, do they all fall over? Funny!
  11. I'm not sure how many of you have seen this video on geocaching, but it appeared on PBS a few years ago. There was another thread on the main forums discussing it. Anyhow, enjoy!
  12. Nice video David! I thought that you covered everything very well.
  13. So what if the same situation happened except you left to eat dinner and came back the next morning to continue looking? Is there a time limit between breaks that mandates that you log a DNF? If so, what is it? For me its different day, different log.. If I DNF twice in the same day it will be combined into a single log. While I think logging DNFs is important, logging multiple DNFs on the same day is silly. It once took me 3 days to complete an awesome multi. I didn't log any DNFs. I logged one long appreciative find log on the 3rd day. My point is that my attempt spanned more than a day. I view a DNF as the end of an attempt. However, if I couldn't finish my attempt in a week or so, I would log a note letting people know that I'm working on it.
  14. I agree with you on this point. It is not a sport to me. It is a means to put some good tasting food on the table. I don't hunt for the fun of killing something. If that is silly, then what about adults lifting up a lamp post covers in a parking lots?
  15. Just wanted to tell you guys how awesome these photos are! Keep 'em coming!
  16. I agree. Some of my best adventures ended with a DNF. To me the cache is just the cherry on the banana split.
  17. Just happened to wander into this forum but I feel I must add my comments. In my opinion this is a PERSONAL SPORT - have fun and keep track of whatever compels you! I have many friends in this sport and most of them are just out for fun, adventure and exercise. Unfortunately, some are out to dictate as seems to be the case in these silly forums. I find it best to stay away from these forums - too many naysayers. I agree - it is a shame! Nice posts!

  19. If I drink too much coffee it would cause even more DNFs from having to quit looking and run to the bathroom! I would log it as one find and tell the story.
  20. What happens if you are looking for a cache don't find it and then get hungry and go get some breakfast. After breakfast you come back and look for it but don't find it. You are tired and so you go get some coffee and come back an hour later. After the coffee you come back and look and you find it! So are you supposed to log 2 DNFs and a find or just log a find? I'm sooo confused....
  21. Afraid to leave my house? Dude, I START caching at 11PM. I'm just missing that warm body to keep me IN the house at night. I've detected an overtly sarcastic and/or negative tone whenever you post on this forum. Is your life so bad that you have absolutely nothing positive to contribute? Is it possible that the reason you're "just missing that warm body to keep you IN the house at night" is because you have such a depressing outlook on life? It's the simple pleasures in life that add a little sparkle, and yet, all you've done, in your latest postings, is make every effort to belittle the simple pleasures that I, and people like me, look forward to on a daily basis. I pray that you find a reason to not be negative, because that's a terrible way to live your life. Our time on this planet is short, and I intend on trying to enjoy my life as much as possible, and I'm looking to bring as many people with me as I can. I consider this a personal attack. Actually, I read that as nothing more than personal observations. I don't read any attack motive into it in the least. I don't get it either. I thought it was good friendly advice. People that don't care about others don't offer that kind of good advice.
  22. Anyone for Venison steak and eggs for breakfast??? Count me in!
  23. Speaking of etiquette... These jokers need to learn some table manners!
  24. Yes, the law has many little technicalities that the LEOs know very well.
